600K over 4 Years (being 2.4K million) you pillock.
You worded it badly and neither way it could be read is believable.

If we think he's so shit he's only worth 150k a year we're not also giving him a 4 year contract and he couldn't be described as greedy for wanting more cash, and if we're offering him 600k per year (which there is no chance in hell we are) he's not going to be snubbing his nose at it out of greed and then taking less elsewhere.

I have no idea how you think anyone will believe this shit you made up, and on the off chance someone is pulling your chain I don't understand how you're so gullible.

$600k per year would put him in the top 6 paid players at the club.

He’d be on Cunnington money.

If we offered that they should sack more people.
Hahahaha Theres absolutely no way we are offering him 600k per year.

600k for a bland, average Bailey Smith type is the sort of decision thar has gotten us to the position we are in. How many shitmen on our list over the past 15 years have earned good coin only to be forever lazy and mediocre or on the long term injury list. Screw that, Viney get to work.

What?

Thomas (and Polec and Corr) earns more than that.

Could have sworn I said LDU.

Corr, yes, he was a free agent so we had to offer overs. The previous crew overpaid to lure Polec. Hmmm, not sure what Thomas is on, I am guessing it would be in the 450k region.

The salary cap is $14.75m and from what we understand we are about $1.5m under cap we carry forward so we have about $13m we fork out and we have 38 senior players which is about $342k average.

We have about 11 on first year contract, a first round pick earns over $100k plus match payments and bonuses, they can earn 150-200k. Guys taken outside the first round and/or haven't played much are pulling in less.

You can't be handing out $600k for players like Scott, that is WAY over what he is worth and it would be salary cap suicide because young kids want to see a progression in terms of them earning more as they develop. What are we going to be paying him when his nuts drop, $1m?

You do understand there is a salary cap floor?

Who else is making that floor as we basically a VFL team with 6 AFL players at the moment.

Who then are we paying to meet the salary cap floor?

Cunnington
Goldstein
Ziebell (lol)
Corr
Simpkin
Polec (lol)

We actually don't have many good players because, you know, we are arguable the worst AFL team of all time?

Like we are genuinely a shithouse football team.

Did our losses this and previous escape you because they didn't escape me?

I mean, even with all the jokes about Corr, the reported figure wasn't even 600k a year.

So would be immensely surprised if a ) the club had offered Bailey 600k a year, and b ) Bailey had been offered that money and thought it wasn't enough.

Doesn't seem like a dumb kid. If he had a contract in front of him he knew put him in the top 5 at the club, he'd likely offer to fellate a sewer pipe for the privilege of signing the contract.

If the figure of 600k is to be believed, I would hazard a guess thats first year front ended, like we did with a young Ziebell who was on something insane like 750k for the first year and dropped off sharply thereafter.

Honestly given our team make up it is how we should be dealing with just about every contract right now.

Drag as much forward as possible. It could create some level of flight risk but it’d probably be minimal.

It is also better for the players. While it also means we are maintaining a significant war chest.

Say what you will about the Brad Scott tenure, but they nailed contracts in his early days.

We did some really good accounting by front ending contracts that left money in the coffers later on. Just a shame that it wasn't put to better use.

Just went a bit pear shaped when Joyce’s was wandering around with a wad of cash thinking he could solve the world’s problem with it.

Worked alright before it with W80, Higgins and Dale Santos.

100%

It really put us in a good position for a while there.

If we're offering to front load Bailey 600k for the first year, I am 100% for it.
