We played well without Wellsy last week.
Narni though would have been good yesterday.
There was no matchup for Delaney such as a Dawes for whom he could run with and win the contest against.
Narnis creativity would have been handy.

you'd be right in saying wells is our most talented players. when he plays well we win. adams is an out and out gun and his reckless endeavour will be missed. narni is a very classy backman, we are a better side with these guys no doubt

i think Wells will play this week (maybe sub) and Grima the week after. It will be a massive risk to bring both of them back for finals at the same time when having 3 weeks off.

My thoughts are Wells seems to be able to come straight back and play well.

Grima on the other hand needs a run to get back into it. Also, i don't think we would want to go into a final with both of them having missed 3 weeks. Maybe risk it with Grima this week (assuming he is passed fit) and sub him off early.

Agree, Love Grima's work, but touch doesn't seem to coime easy to him.

Happy to see them miss against gws this week. Ideally get some run into their legs before a high intensity final but if there is any doubt, leave them out!

It's vital that we are able to secure a Melbourne final. Absolutely huge for us. Even if our finals experience ends up being just one game, if it's at the MCG, it will give us a real taste of what's to come over the next few seasons. But a heavy loss in Perth will end up being absolutely useless.

A heavy loss anywhere doesnt mean much. And a brave loss in Perth is probably worth more for character than a brave loss in Melb. But forget all that, i just want to go to the game, so we have to get a home final!

I'm desperate to get Grima our lucky charm back into the team.

It's no coincidence that our form turn around coincided with his return from injury earlier in the season.

Despite missing the first 6 or so weeks he has been in our best players almost every game since his return.

Call me biased but I reckon despite missing the early part of the season if his form held and he didn't suffer his second injury this season his name would have been mentioned in AA calculations.

Narni to get the lactic acid burning again and play this weekend. Hell be a liability if he doesn't play this week going into finals without a run. Wells to be rested another week.

I heard Doc Larkins on the wireless tonight talking about Wellsy and Narni's chances of playing this week. He reckons Grima is running fine and that he could well play and that Wellsy returning would be too big a risk as it would be a week or two short of the usual recovery period for a calf injury,

yeh Narni needs to have a blowout to work back into some fitness. Definitely needs to play. Chapman and Scotland are on the wrong side of 30 and both only missed a game with their calves. If it was do or die last week or this week Daniel would have played. Get him right for week 1..

Yeah don't risk them this week.

Grima has elite fitness and Wellsy is pretty darn good himself, so 3-4 weeks off will be a good result, not ideal, but it's better than rushing them back and having them go again.

play narni off the bench or even as a sub..needs a run.
Wells another week.
The issue is whether guys like Atley and Harper need a rest before finals. Im always hesitant about treating games as so called "byes" to rest players...

Was at the club today, Brad said maybe 1 change only but don't believe it will be Wells or Grima coming in. Spoke to Wellsy and he said at this stage he wasn't sure if he will be recalled this week but I got the feeling that he won't get up. Grima wasn't doing much at training either. Neither were in the main group so I would be very surprised if either were recalled.

Excellent.

North Melbourne's 2012 campaign is now complete and most players are enjoying a well earned break. Now is the perfect time to analyse each of them, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and see who is best suited to take the club forward.

kangaroos.com.au is conducting reviews on all players to represent the club in a senior game in 2012, underlining their best games, season statistics and video highlights.

Season stats
Games: 20
Goals: 14
Disposals: 439 (22)
Kicks: 290 (14.5)
Handballs: 149 (7.5)
Marks: 72 (3.6)

AFL stats
9th in total goal assists
18th in total inside 50's

kangaroos.com.au says:

Over the pre-season Wells was expected to be unavailable for Round 1 due to his ongoing recovery from a blood clot in his lungs. Nevertheless, with limited preparation, he ran out for the season opener and played a large part in North's return to form from midway through the year.

It was no coincidence that on the three occasions Wells cracked 30 possessions, North was victorious (Geelong, Adelaide, St Kilda). With the ball in his hands, the Kangaroos became a much more dangerous and unpredictable team.

Wells went down with a calf injury in the early stages of the Round 20 clash against Essendon and North's attack suffered. It only broke the 100-point barrier once in the final month of football, compared to seven times in the previous eight matches when the number 8 was in action.

The experts say

Matthew Richardson
"He is a very, very unselfish player. He loves bringing teammates into play, there's no doubt about that."

Andrew Swallow
"It's great to see him continue to play some good footy. He's had a lot of doubters over the years, but he's finally starting to show that he can play well, especially against the best teams."
