Riddle me this, "if he is good does it matter if he is slow?"

There are scales of good. It all depends just how good and what role is being performed, and how much the lack of speed is offset by that.

A friend who was at the game told me this crab was gobbing off at Hooksy when Hawkins was kicking his junk time goals in the 4th quarter. Is this right??
Time for him to retire I reckon, team bond will be better without him.

Pretty sure he didn't share his pretzels with Hooksy post game, so I'd say your source is legit

Where Goddard struggles these days is when he has to bend down for the ball eg pass from teammate is a bit misdirected. He's really slow in those situations. Basically he doesn't have the agility.

Still reasonably handy though and played a good game vs Geelong.

Would like to see him rested from time to time as well.

I recall a passage of play on the weekend where he had to deal with two or three handballs to his feet. Felt sorry for the bloke.

3 tackles with 2 holding the ball ;)

Thought he was very solid, stood bravely in the hole on many occasions puting his body on the line and apart from that kickout his skills where sublime. He is still a very important player for us when he is up and about.

He's become a Fletcher style rock in defence that can also play forward if moved there. Plays up the ground well. Like Dustin.

Unfortunately dropped every mark when he was in the hole. Might cut him some slack because of the greasy conditions but in the past 2 years I don't ever recall him taking any decent intercept marks.

He marked at least 2 that I can remember when he was 'in the hole'.

Fair enough too. Our percentage took a hammering. Will be all the difference when we are fighting for top 4.

Took a strong overhead mark in front of a Cameron and Ambrose contest in the third when GWS were all over us.

He took a blinder against GWS too. Must be watching a different game.

Must be Runk...
Goddard could almost win our B&F (Remind me, how'd he go in last years B&F?) and still be labelled as dead weight by the usual suspects who shout murder when a kick doesn't work out, then turn a blind eye when he ends up in the coaches votes every third game.

His past 2 weeks have been very good imo. Then again so have almost everyone else's. I will say he has slowed in his movement of the ball however his kicking is still penetrating and accurate. He can marshall the youth at the back and offer sound advice.

Is he holding anyone out this year? At this stage I'd say no, however will he be holding youth back next year, I believe he will be and we need to back in Redman and Francis. That's a different discussion.

Yes. I missed his marks during the game live and only saw the spills. Saw them on replay so I have to put my hand up and say I've made a mistake on that one.

Regardless, I think there is zero benefit in playing him. Rather give Redman the second half of the year rotating with Guelfi and Ridley in that spare man, medium size type defender and see how they go.
