I look at everyone between that and your next pick. You don't cherry pick one or two players, it just gives a picture of if there was a depth of talent available or not.

A player going 15 picks after a selection is unlikely to have been rated at your selection if you’re inside the first couple of rounds. Meaning it’s highly unlikely any club would have taken them at the higher pick.

Eg Fyfe drafted at 20, no one was taking him inside 10 despite it qualifying for your metric.

The clubs all rate the players differently. So you can only look at what was on the board at your pick. If there's a single player 15 picks after your selection or if that player is one of half a dozen or more - that's how I look at it. The overall talent available at the selection.

Very benefit of hindsight looking that far ahead. Fyfe is a great example of a player that no one in the industry ever saw what he'd become, so you can't hammer any particular recruiter for it.

We have the benefit of hindsight, so use it. We bag Parish for missing that goal on Saturday, easy to do in hindsight. You weren't complaining when he got the footy.

AFL club makes a trade that has not 100% worked in their favour.

Anyway we gave up two x pick 14 which ended up being Caldwell (2018) and Bergman(2019). We got their 2019 second pick but it was traded on in a multi trade. I think the pick ended up being with the Crows and was Ronin O'Conner .
We then got Caldwell for two second round picks. Cost us 2020 pick 29 and 2021 second round pick. There where several trades with these picks I think. Geelong ended up with one of them and picked James Willis.

Just going with Eth's join the dots method of saying we traded Fantasia for Caldwell (which we didn't).

I think the argument traces back to you saying "we got Caldwell anyway" if I'm not mistaken?
you’re going to get all ****ed up when we trade Fantasia back!

His only way in outside of injury is a small forward out (Snelling, Guelf or Menzie)

And we got back to playing a Hobbs/Caldwell/Perk more fwd than we saw today

Guelfi was awesome
Menzie manages to kick goals

I think were stupid putting Langers back instead of playing a Baldwin or Cox

Not sure the coach has done him any favors by throwing him in at the center bounce when he gets on. Surely you run him into the forward line for 5 or so minutes so he can get the pace of the game. As for some of the other crap. He was in good form as a forward / midfielder before he got injured. He could use a full VFL game for sure but his form early this year proved he can play a role.
