I hate the Petracca comparison. LDU will never be able to match his scoreboard impact.
This is a massive shitpost. LDU regularly gets forward and, if he was a little more accurate, would could have an extra 1-2 goals a game. While he can sometimes shank them, his kicks inside 50 are sometimes weighted so perfectly for our forwards. I don't see why, if he had a midfield that actually shepherded him, he couldn't be just as damaging as Petracca. They play a similar role and be just needs a bit more midfield support and confidence in himself and the boys. He will get there. I think he's got all the attributes to be better than Trac, except for maybe the natural confidence which is the job of the coaches to bring out in him.

Could easily match his scoreboard impact with more shots on goal in a more offensive team. Hard to score goals in a side that scores 6 or 7 a game.

Beats him on pretty much every other stat, with less TOG and 70 games less at the same age. That’s effectively 3 seasons less. The comparison at 60 games would be even more clear cut.

Would like to see a few more people see him for the player he is and is becoming, and to cut the rubbish about no defensive game which is clearly just rubbish.

Enjoy what could become a great NMFC career. Much more fun than potting blokes
100% agree. We were lucky that he slipped to us in the draft. Have not been as excited about a draft pick in our history. LDU could be our next premiership captain provided we get the right support around him.

With all the over-the-top carry on about JHF, the media (except maybe Gerard Healy) won’t know what to do when they wake up and see that LDU, TT, BMac, Souva and Tommy Powell are All Australians in our 2026 premiership year.

Richmond must still be playing decent footy in 2026 then? 😉

Fair to say that his last 6-7 weeks has been brilliant and still improving on the whole. I said he was our best mid a few games back and he is well on his way - if not already there - to staking his claim as our best player.

As a soothing presence playing in the middle, I’m just wondering how handy the 18-20 possessions Dumont would be right now.

Dumont was never effective in CBAs. His 18-20 possessions were, and still are, as a link in chains of possession, typically in the back half, sometimes on wings / half forward.

We're missing his commitment and hard work, especially given our lack of onfield leadership, but he's still pretty vanilla and good for a couple of turnovers a game.

Was he ever given an extended run in the middle?

The exciting thing with LDU is that he still has massive scope for improvement despite playing at a high level at the moment. There are some guys who play well and you know they're doing everything the best they can possibly do. LDU is at that high level but can go even further by adding a few more strings to his bow like honing his forward craft so he REALLY scares opposition defenders when he goes down there.
