Dusty is our best player but the people i mentioned are the ones responsible for the change our club went through and the people who drove the changes in culture and attitude
Ivan Maric was one of the original sources of our new culture too

I really hope we just sit back and enjoy his final season. Unfortunately I think we’ll have the usual suspects bagging him every chance they can. Same goes for Jack. Let’s just enjoy what we have left of their careers, they’ve given us everything we’ve ever dreamt of.

Looks like he's got 5 years left campaigner

As Jack and Cotch are playing on this season. We can't write the eulogy just yet. My eulogy has 300 games, 4 flags. Up there with St Michael & St Dick. but....Sheds barely got to be best 22 by the end of the season and Jack & cotch are showing signs of slowing. Jack can't jump as well as he used to but is needed as a KPF. Still contributes. Cotch was injury prone in 2021 but seems to have overcome the injury.

The debate is his position with new mids joined the club.

On paper TT & JH make us flag contenders. But Brizzy have made some good additions.

I don't expect a Sheds-like drop off for Cotch..but its the balance of their gameday input vs winning games.

100%, but there’s no need for the fans to turn on them like they started to this season, Edwards included.

And produced something Richo never could.
A boy.

I suspect Cotch will have a very good season - the addition of the two GWS boys will allow him to better mange his manic inside clearance work which takes its toll on an older body big time.

Our unofficial captain still - will inspire on the field and mentor off it....

Kid loves basketball and cricket, no interest in AFL at all.
Give the kid a little time. A Cotchin / Kennedy male is just dying to captain n play "tough and physical " (Rick Kennedy wiki). 'ball n cricket probs makes a young child happy. Predict footy instincts to take over for this lad.

That'll change
Wouldn't have a clue if it's true or not, just thought I'd throw it out there as something that's likely to happen given he's one of our few Father son candidates for the future

Nevertheless.
No pressure on the kid.

Cotchin had an excellent 2022, despite Cornes saying he shouldn’t have played on. I loved the way early in the season he had a few impactful games but not that much of the ball, and Karen Cornes would say to a talkback caller “yep, he had 17 touches”.

Then later in the season he was regularly getting around 25 touches, and Cornes changed the narrative to “yeah, but he’s just not having much of an impact”.

Cornes just cannot say he was wrong … Cotchin more than held his own in 2022 with a very good season and fully deserves to play on.

And we don’t need to worry about his role. We will rarely have all of TT, Hopper, Cotch, Prestia and Dusty available each week. And when we do, we’ll be able to rest Cotch to keep him fresh.

What I’d give for a 4th flag and a Norm Smith for the 33yo Cotch ala Isaac Smith …..imagine the melting!
