They've been trying to get Cotch playing forward for years. He's not a great goal kicker, but is capable. So playing him forward is .. interesting. But as an impact mid who plays forward it sounds good.

Is it really easier to ask that question here instead of just Googling it?How many games is he on?
had his best year for us compared to his last few years and was one of our best last year what are you on aboutThe Cotchin plan won't work, you do have to wonder how many games we will waste trying to get it to work. Just hope it doesn't cost us any wins or young players at seasons end. It is a concern IMO, love Cotch and everything he has done for us, but he should have told the club last year he was done even if the club were the ones who convinced him to go 1 more time.

he will obviously rotate through the midfield too, most likely push up and play as a high half forward. he has played forward before, kicked 5 in a game before he will be fine. he has the smarts. dont knock it until its triedYeah as a midfielder, he is playing forward now, he isnt a forward. If there is no spot for him in the midfield, then why is he playing on?

I'd prefer Cotch in his current role + additional bench time. See where he plays in the practice matches.I'm not 100% certain Cotchin forward is the best use/benefit for the team.
If I look at our potential forward setup (excluding Cotchin) it could look something like this:
Martin Riewoldt Bolton
Cumberland Lynch Rioli
So for mine he doesn't knock any of those out of the forward line, but he could be used as a bench rotation at times. The challenge with Cotchin is he's slow, so he's not burning anyone off on the lead or at ground level, he's an average shot for goal, he's not a long kick, he's not particularly big and strong so he's probably not taking contested marks. I'm a bit worried he might not have that much of an impact in the forward line. He's a leader and he has game smarts, but I'm not sure of his forward craft.
Wait and see, but I feel it's a bit of a shoehorn move to try and squeeze him to 300 games.
Preseason practice games Cotch played fwd and kicked a few. Great if he can add goal kicking to the resume. I rate flags first. 300 game milestones second. I mean the way I see it is Cotch fwd Dusty or Shai mid more mid.Yeah as a midfielder, he is playing forward now, he isnt a forward. If there is no spot for him in the midfield, then why is he playing on?

Cotch and MRJ would cause fumbles from oppos just knowing one or both are bearing down on them. Can you imagine Cotchin terrorizing the Tom Stewart, Callum Mills of the world, those defensive HBs that setup oppo attack
Must admit I’m not completely sold on the idea of him playing forward, he will be great around stoppage and will probably be able to snag a few from smart crumbs and gut running but his set shot has never been fantastic and he really can lack penetration in his kicking these days so unless he’s within 25m of goals I don’t know if he can reliable enough to kick the distanceThey've been trying to get Cotch playing forward for years. Although more than happy to be proven wrong
you think he cant kick 30 metres? He's not making it from 50 out but he'd get it home from 40-45. Not a big deal if he's staying close to goal, certainly doesn't make or break him as a froward.you think he cant kick 30 metres? LOL
Good on him for having a crack. We're playing port in Round 24.We will hold him to account on this!
