There's no smiley for a deep breath ... Brett Burton has knocked back a job with Port  - as strength and conditioning coach. I assume he would have replaced Andrew Lulham who it was mentioned at the BnF is heading back to Queensland.

There's some cognitive dissonance saved.

RECENTLY retired Adelaide Crow Brett Burton has knocked back an offer to join arch-enemy Port Adelaide as strength and conditioning coach.

Burton is said to favour a position in Victoria and is talking to a host of clubs.

"I'm not sure whether the role suits me," Burton said.

"Port Adelaide is looking for a person with strength and conditioning experience whereas my expertise is in fitness."

I don't know anything about his qualifications but we don't need people aligned with Crows at our club and I am sure they will never be accepted.
Especially as he is straight out of West Lakes.

Could you imagine Burton in strength and conditioning and Montgomerie in an assistant coaching capacity at Port Adelaide?

I don't mind admitting that I had to look up 'dissonance' in the dictionary - a good word for the situation.

I was a bit torn on this appointment - whether to tear out the rest of the little hair that I have left or to tear up my membership.

Yes, it is difficult trying to find the right emoticon.

Boy, did we dodge a ballistic missile there. - is that more appropriate.

I have just come back from the hybrid board and they must be bored without no finals action - they have started another Port bashing thread - not that they care or worry about us too much. No chips on shoulders anywhere to be seen.

"Strength and conditioning coach"

aka

"Guy who holds the punchbag and occasionally cops one to the scone when the boys `accidentally' miss"

Good role for the right person!

Burton as a strength and conditioning coach? A major part of a s&c coach is injury prevention and he would know nothing about that.

I'm not to sure what his qualifications are bit usually you need some sort of masters and asac level 3 qualification, or they hire you for your name. If port were hiring him because of his name you would think they would go a not better than Brett Burton.

meh ...

Did Port release this media grab or squealer or media just sniffing around ...
????

I'm sure that a few people are being questioned to work at Port - its only news as it's a Crow?

i detest the clown but lets get this into our heads

we get the best person for the job, whether he is a boofwit or not

we need to put our prejudices aside and remember that

Everyone repeat after me, "He did it"
