A-League - Round 9: Perth Glory v Brisbane Roar

This isn't the team we need to face after losing three on the trot, they're really in form. Will this be the week that we finally not get over 10k?

confident we can head over to your patch and get the points here, especially if we keep the possession, passing and pressing game we had last week.

heart had no answer.

Actually very confident going into this week. Completely outclassed the heart last week and if it wasn't for Bolton it would've been a lot worse then 4-0.

Predicted 2-0 to the Roar :thumbsu:

Brisbane have the best ball movement in the comp, however finishing has always been the problem, but last week it all came together, they were ruthless.

Mind you, the Heart were useless, but if the Roar can sustain this, they will be a very dangerous side.

No Jamie Coyne is clearly a win for the Glory this week.:p:thumbsu:

Neville will return from national duty and I also expect changes up front with us not scoring in the last three games. A bit hard to pick the team this week.

Will be a very tough game because Brisbane are playing extremely well, but will they play the same way on the road?

Fowler and Sterjovski are due some goals and I expect (hope) to see the floodgates open in front of The Shed!:thumbsu:

They already did a change last week, Baird started. Not sure why the Roar fans are getting cocky for, they forget they have Ange Postecoglou as coach.

Ange is improving rapidly (I would say unexpectedly) and has done a great job so far with Brisbane. Broich looks like a brilliant signing and McKay has stepped up his game. Steffanutto is a gun LB and Theoklitos is a good signing between the sticks.

For us, surely Jelic starts. Whenever Jelic plays, the Glory win. He always seems to score and get in good positions. Partnering him with Fowler, and then having Baird on the bench with some pace is our preferred line-up I think. Mile has looked good up front, but I would be tempted to keep him on the right flank and have Pelle benched.

Burns needs to step up his game. It's all well and good taking chunks out of the opposition, but he is not adding anything to us going forward and he is turning it over way to easily.

I think the Roar will be a tough proposition for us today.

Their movement off the ball from the games i've seen them play (which is only a couple) is a big key for them, and conversely glory's problem (since we have started to lose) is that we don't seem to bother about moving off the ball. I'm worried we will get outrun. So vital that we get an early goal.

That said . Im tipping 1-1

I also would like to see jelic start and am not adverse to seeing j. mitchell partner todd in central defence. I think having both todd and harnwell there leaves us a bit slow.

Id be telling fowler to give me everything he has and if that is only 30 mins flat out so be it baird comes on.

So my lineup

---------------------Tando-----------------------

Neville -----Todd-----J.Mitchell------Sekulovski

---------------------Burns-----------------------

Sterjovski-----------------------------Howarth

---------------------McGarry--------------------

----------Fowler----------------Jelic-------------

SUBS (Based on released squads)
Baird
Vrtevski
Harnwell
Jukic

Can someone explain to me why Jelic can't get a start? When Baird started last week against us I was so happy. Branko is very dangerous, he is big but he also has some speed there and I'm sure he makes defenders nervous when he gets near them.

And whenever he gets on the park a goal is usually not far away. What did he do, kick Mitch's dog?

Please kindly get the **** out of my football club Mitchell. Actually, there are a few players who could go too. And while we're at it, seeing as Ferguson isn't seeming to offer anything that hun can go as well. Shambles. Fair play to Roar though, brilliant team to watch and Postewhatsisface has them playing well.

Sack the fat old c**t. Can't take much more of this from Mitchell.:thumbsdown:

If you spend $500k+ on Fowler then actually use him. Hardly got a touch again and just stands in the middle of the park wondering what the f**k is going on.

Baird needs to finish, if Jelic was on the game is over at 3-1. Taking Naum of an putting Howarth at left back is suicide. Howarth is not a left back and was exposed too easily.

No creativity again. Only one creative player in our squad (Jukic) and he spends his time playing NYL.

Only positives were our young players in Neville and Pearson. Neville is turning into a quality player and Pearson looked good on debut. If J.Coyne plays next match it will just sum up Mitch.

Anything less than top 4 would be failure for Perth, but that's in danger of happening whilst Mitchell is there. The coaching levels have been raised in the A-League, and surely Sage's patience is being tested.

That Pearson bloke looked very impressive, but I would be ropable with Mitchell, he takes too long to counter-act problems.

Pearson was fantastic. Very tough for a little guy. I sat through the entire match and I still couldn't tell you what formation(s) was being played and who was in what position. Fowler just stood around the centre circle (admittedly some good touches) but Pellegrino, Sterjovski, Howarth, Baird & Burns just seemed to wander about the pitch aimlessley doing as they pleased. How many times did Brisbane's midfield advance unopposed for 20-30m and there was no one in front of the defence to hinder them

It was only in last 15 when Jelic came on and Howarth was finally told to stick to the left and Pellegrino to the right that there was any sort of cohesion and they looked to threaten. If it wasn't for Andy Todd and Scott Neville, plus some woeful finishing from the Roar, that could have been an embarassing scoreline.

The players (mostly) are good enough but they desperately need some direction/structure. He's gotta go but it doesn't help when 10 minutes after the match I see tony Sage sinking a pint at the Brisbane Hotel around the corner from the ground.

Perths problem is clear and simple

PACE

Seriously Robbie Fowler is one of the quickest players in the front 2/3 of the pitch for them. Its embarassing. They are slow, have no hold up strikers, no goalscoring threat from the midfield and a defence which is being wrecked with injuries

Perth are in alot more trouble than just having a poor coach I think. A unbalanced squad which lacks pace and doesnt have the strength to make up for it either.
