wouldnt be any be any need to have the buy rounds so there would definitely be extra games

No, there is no reason to "buy" rounds.
You don't seem to have the slightest idea of scheduling.
The AFL (or any other league) can schedule any length of season and how many games it sees fit.
The AFL (or any other league) can schedule a complete bye or a split round, whatever they deem appropriate.
Just because an odd number league produces a bye every week doesn't mean much at all.

If the AFL introduces a Final 9, the season will have more interest, for more fans, for longer- because of "eternal hopes" one's team can scrape into 9th position,

A little more interest perhaps. A little more money perhaps.
Australian Football fans are realists and some fans would see it as just another money grab.
IMO a "wildcard" entry for the best performing team (outside of the finals) in the latter rounds would produce more interest
and of course that could be done with 18 teams.

For the same reason

You have to think a little - not much, just a little. Oh, and you actually have to read a little as well.
I actually gave the answer in my suggestion.
You still didn’t answer about the neafl
Answer.

So now we have random comments out of the way is there a reason you quoted that post directed at the Wanderboy?

anyone that thinks fielding a team in the neafl is agood idea

Is thinking ahead
The NEAFL is a great creation by the AFL though I am a little surprised that they came through with it.
The NEAFL was created to give a second tier to the east coast and that has worked well.
The NEAFL has adapted to the changing demands.
If you are in a location without any second tier representation then having a team in a second tier is always better than none

All good mate

Any troll speaking like that

is obviously on a different wavelength

You're not anyone's mate. You're a troll and I wish you could at least ask some more interesting questions rather than launch opinion all the time.

To be fair we would love a national reserves. We have Buckley’s of getting it though.

I have to disagree there.

1. With the large break before AFL bouncedown nobody attends curtain-raisers anymore.
2. AFL reserves add nothing to revenue.
3. AFL reserves would cost a heap to run.
4. The AFL abolished reserves any nobody missed them.
5. If the AFL banned all affiliations with second tier teams then all AFL clubs would be in the same position.
6. Having no AFL reserves lifts the profile of second tier leagues.

Mate you have obviously never watched a game of neafl Go through some of the results from the last few seasons and you will see what everyone is talking about I understand what they were trying to do with the neafl but it’s not working when I lived on the Gold Coast in the early 2,000s the local comp qfl was actually a pretty decent standard comp Brisbane had there team in itI can’t comment on what the local Sydney comp was like but I believe the money would have been much better spent on strengthening those local comps for what it is costing to fund the neafl it’s in extremely poor standard comp I actually feel sorry for the afl clubs that have to field teams in it

Ok mate I forgot you are an expert on everything that happens in Tasmanian and nsw/Queensland football what right does anyone have to comment that actually lives in one of those states my apologies 😂

Yeah that would be ideal think it’s the wafl and sanfl who are most against it happing that’s the one thing the nrl do better then the afl with the Toyota cup and the grades below

All the state leagues are against it and can understand why

Yes, the AFLQ is a decent standard and the NEAFL is now much higher.
As I said, having a team in a second tier competition is much better than not having a team in a second tier competition.
At least it's much better than that joke of A FFA Cup. What a waste of money that is.

All the Victorian clubs plus the swans finished around 1999-2000 you don’t remember this competition buy the way the tough act doesn’t suit you mate!

That wasn't a national reserves comp. Brisbane played in it too for a few years (and won it as well), but it never had WA or SA participation. That's why it had no effect on the WAFL or SANFL.

Well this was the afl reserves comp played across three states wa and sa clubs chose not to enter teams whose making a fool of themselves now !

the afl is called a national comp

Yes and it arguably has the best spread of any national competition, certainly in Australia.
The AFL plays in all states and major territories.
The NFL has 32 teams and there are 50 states.
The CFL has 9 teams in 7 of the 10 provinces and 3 territories.
