The U15 Queensland team bounced back with a commanding 111-point victory over the ACT today! PBC's Jackson Jarvis was once again named in the bests and he, along with Cooper Hodge, look like they are seriously in line for AA selection after being named in the bests for all three national championship games to date. Queensland will face Tasmania in a 3rd place playoff tomorrow and I believe this will be their last game of the carnival so obviously it's their last chance to impress on the national stage. Hoping the boys in maroon can win and walk away with an even 2 win - 2 loss record for the championships.

Exciting stuff and some very famous names there! Boston Everitt (Spida's son), Joe Kennedy (Maxy's son) and Zai Millane (Darren's nephew) are all known footy bloodlines and Leo Lombard's father is a famous Cuban UFC fighter named Hector. Seems like this is going to keep happening each year with our academy so we just have to get used to the idea that we may lose some of our academy kids to other club's F/S access. Would be nice if we could keep a few though! Not sure if the U17 Queensland team is good enough to take down Vic Country but Lombard and Nancarrow are definitely the ones to keep an eye on and are both potential first round picks next year. Hopefully the Queensland U17s will be more competitive this year when compared to the belting they received from Vic Metro last year.

Just on that, the list confirms that Boston Everitt is playing club footy for Oakleigh these days and attends Carey Grammar so he must have made the move down south at some point this year. It would appear the whole Everitt family moved to Melbourne but Spida still flies up regularly for events on the GC. I assume Boston has fulfilled the residence criteria to remain in our academy program and will continue to play for us next year just like Nancarrow. I'd expect Boston to play for our U18 academy, the Allies (if good enough), Carey and Oakleigh next year so he'll have plenty of opportunity to showcase his skills in front of AFL recruiters. Assuming he's good enough, I'm still holding out hope that he'll do a Will Ashcroft and select us over the Saints! If I had the choice of being coached by Damien Hardwick or Ross Lyon then I'd definitely be heading home to the Gold Coast.

Thanks for the update. You seem to know a lot about the players coming through. What type of players are those 15s boys you mentioned? Keen to hear if Hodge is anything like his dad.

The Queensland U15 team got the win over Tasmania 5.6 (36) - 3.5 (23) today. Jackson Jarvis was named best on in the win and Cooper Hodge + Archie Hill featured in the bests again as well. Taj Murray was also named in the bests. All signs point to PBC's Jackson Jarvis being the best player in the state at the U15 level and Broadbeach's Archie Hill may very well be the second best player from QLD in this age group. I think that might be it for the U15 national championships this year but I have heard there could be one more game against New South Wales either tomorrow or Saturday.

Either way, keep an eye on Jackson Jarvis and Archie Hill for the 2026 draft class. Both should play for our academy in the U16 national championships next year.

Can't give you much other than to say that I've been led to believe Jackson Jarvis is the best player from Queensland in this age group (at the moment) and that Hodge still has a way to go but is showing good signs. Archie Hill is apparently better than Hodge as well.

Archie Hill was with the U16 Academy all year as an under ager - definitely has some skills and well worth keeping an eye on next year and following years.

Hi folks...I'm a Richmond supporter and wondering if we will play any part in your 3 academy draft picks in this draft. Some people on our board are suggesting the Suns would be interested in Soldo. Others are saying you currently have draft picks which equate to 2 academy picks. Do the Suns need a heap of draft picks this year to be traded for 2024 draft picks?

Soldo… why would we need him when we have Witts and Moyle? Outside of that we have Chol. We will need further picks for our 4 academy players if we decide to pick Will Graham up as well who will be approx pick 30-40.

If there was to be a trade it would be for a player we need or picks

No interest in Soldo, someone’s pulling your leg. Let me guess, pick 5 was going to be part of the deal 🙄

We have enough points stashed already as we have known for years about the academy guns coming through.

Pick 5 will only be used if an A grader wants to come and Soldo certainly isn’t that

We're also about to draft a top 5 pick who has been playing in the ruck all season. Don't think we really need Soldo when we've got Witts, Moyle, Chol and Read. The only reason I could see the Soldo suggestion making sense is if Hardwick loves him and demands that he be traded in. I doubt that, though.

The only player I like from Richmond for the Suns would be Queenslander Noah Cumberland. He would be a good bargain pickup, really dangerous around goal and not getting a look in at the tigers at the moment.

Looks so erratic when he plays.
Almost like he took the whole packet of nodoz pre game.

He’s definitely a potential AFL player but feel like there’s a lot of work to be done on consistency, confidence, psychology etc..

Well someone calculated that Suns only had points for 2 players. So if you have points for 3 players . The 4th player is the challenge'

Wow. Doing well.

Suns are smashing the VFL and very solid win over Brizzy.

Keep winning and you'll make the 8!!

I feel like we don’t need fringe 22 players anymore… those days are behind us. I think with our rookie list being cut again and the 4 academy players this year likely to be brought it we don’t have list spots for list cloggers
Not unless we are delisting players we don’t think are worth it anymore.

But yes, we can only have so many depth players. Even our 2022 pick ups in Berry and Long are currently nothing but depth most of the time. Gott be a proven player or just go to the draft.

We have points for all 3 players with the discount.

Leo Lombard played for the Broadbeach seniors again yesterday and was lively with two goals in their 63-point demolition of Sherwood. It's great to see one of our highly rated academy bottom agers play against grown men and thrive. Really good for his development.

Is Hardwick a certainty? King doing a decent job as caretaker. Has won a flag as a player. Not many ex rucks are senior coaches though.

The biggest backhanded compliment Hardwick received was winning the 2017 flag with the "worst list ever." A few people on Richmond bigfooty credit his assistants. McRae, Leppitsch, Caracella.

Highly probable, it's a hard sell to the players to sack the coach because you think he's regressed and then get someone untried, it would just be incomprehensible to a large chunk of the playing group.

McCrae, Leppitsch or Caracella didn't get to lift the cup 3 times on the dias though, did they? If McCrae has a brilliant idea and Dimma listens and agrees then isn't that still a great head coach?

On topic. Good news for our future with Jackson Jarvis and bottom ager Taj Murray (Jai's brother) being named in the U15 AA team today. We've got some serious high end talent coming through our academy pathway over the next 4-5 years! Perhaps most important is that all bar one of the names listed below are Gold Coast locals with Cairns native Caleb Nancarrow being the only one not from the GC.

2023 - Jed Walter (U18 AA), Ethan Read (U18 AA), Jake Rogers (U18 AA)
2024 - Leonardo Lombard ('22 U16 AA), Caleb Nancarrow ('22 U16 AA)
2025 - Beau Addinsall (U16 AA), Jai Murray (U16 AA), Zeke Uwland (U16 AA), Dylan Patterson (U16 AA), Kalani White (U16 AA)
2026 - Jackson Jarvis (U15 AA)
2027 - Taj Murray (U15 AA)

How is Taj Murray in 2 classes

Is Archie Hill missing or is he Lions?
I thought Hill didn't make the U15 AA team? I thought it was just three Queenslanders - Jackson Jarvis, Taj Murray and Cooper Hodge.

My mistake. The Murray brothers are two years apart. Jai in the 2025 draft class and Taj in the 2026 class. Both named in their AA teams this year and Jai is a member of our U18 program already. Seems like both lads have massive potential.

I mean is Hill part of Gold Coast's academy or Brisbane's?
