Re: Adam Gilchrist announces his retirement from Test Cricket

This needs to be qualified - it's of players still currently playing. Gilchrist (and Dravid) are nowhere near the all-time record, which is held by AR Border with 153 consecutive tests between 10 March 1979 and 25 March 1994. ME Waugh played 107 consecutive tests between 3 July 1993 and 19 October 2002. SM Gavaskar played 106 consecutive tests between 23 January 1975 and 3 February 1987.

I believe the correct stat was that Gilchrist had played the most consecutive Tests since debut given that he hasn't missed a Test since breaking into the side, not the overall most consecutive Tests.

Very sad to see that he's called it a day.

The single greatest wicketkeeper the game has seen. while other keepers may have had the edge behind the stumps, no-other keeper could get close with the batting. jeff dujon was probably the closest. such a shame that he couldn't make it into the team earlier, which had been blocked by ian healy. in my opinion, one of the fairest players to play the game.

Hopefully young Harry Gilchrist can don the gloves for Australia in the future.

What about Archie?

Just been wondering, seeing as he is retiring does that mean Gilly wont be rested at any stage during the upcoming tri series and will for a change play every game?
Yeah more than likely. Why would they rest him? What would they rest him for?
