Just some food for thought for Bailey01 and others, contracts can be terminated at the agreement of both parties - a player and their club.

To be honest mate, haven't kept a close eye on Adelaide this year. He may though if he has been given little opportunity and/or little game-time.

Asa, not one player - I will repeat as you are finding it difficult to comprehend - not 1 player - has been re-drafted through the PSD against their will by a club ... yet you want to deny this fact & all will change with Polec (not that I'm saying AFC will take him through the draft). This is not trolling this is stating the facts & rebutting your BS post! But hey, stick to Asa fantasy land if you want...

Betts as a small forward (which is what the Crows are after - not a midfielder!) averages 1.6 goals per game v 1.2 goals. That's 1/3rd better than Monfries - more than the 25% I quoted. Then if you add in in his assist he has Monfries well & truly covered as small forward.

Getting personal doesn't distort the facts Asa...

No because generally the clubs sort out a deal. From what I've read Adelaide is very keen to sort out a deal with us so it won't go down the PSD path. It's ridiculous to even suggest it might when Port are also right into also. Waste your time talking PSD for the next 4 weeks but a deal will get done with one of the clubs.

I read that Rowe spoke to Betts manager, who is probably trying to get a better deal for his client & using Rowe as the lever to get an "unofficial" message to the Crows.

Crows are already offering more $'s than Roos. If purely about $'s AFC will get their man. Roos will snag Betts on other factors - playing with a good mate &/or preference to stay in Melbourne.

You got Betts

Congratulations crowies

David Mackay is contracted so I don't think we can trade him.

You can still trade him, if he agrees.

Agreed, there will be no PSD. We will have to leverage a pick below 30 to get it done. Should be able to do that wiht potentially Mckay Henderson and Mckernan on the block. I would even get rid of Vince and Petrenko if we had to as well.

We've overpaid Betts, but realistically there's no way someone is moving to Adelaide without being overpaid. And given the general ineptitude of our forward line, he should be a pretty major focus, so I don't think its all that unrealistic for him to get back up to that 40-50 goal return.

that's why Adelaide gets a COLA.

oh wait.

At least SA is a footy state. Not sure about numbers but I;m guessing something like 20-25% of AFL players come from SA whereas about 3% are from QLD. Very hard to retain interstate players as their potential earnings through endorsements etc are non existent in QLD.

yes - should be extra-COLA for you.

also hard enough to get Queenslanders to come home - luckily Kurt is on his way

oh wait

Betts was the leading player for goal assists in the AFL in 2013.

He had 25 more than 2nd AND didn't play a full season. Crazy numbers

I have no problems paying what we will be on those numbers. Tex (if he comes back ok) will have a field day. Add to that the tackling pressure which we sorely lack at times

We have no good draft picks, we have cap space. We fill a need a pay slightly overs. It's a smart move (for once from the Crows)

If he can pull those GA numbers next year, it'll be HUGE for our forwards

Ricky Henderson to Coll is almost a done deal. 5AA just reported he met with them yesterday and had a physical. ADL asked for a first round pick, which is overs, but are happy with a second round pick.

Yet AFC keep saying they would prefer to keep Hendo - which I hope is correct, as we don't really have anyone else who can play his role. Would not trade him for a late 2nd rounder to the Pies.

Agree, AFC will look to trade so long as Lions remain reasonable.

I would be keeping Hendo. Trade Mackay, McKernan, Lyons & if any interest in Petrenko, Martin, Jaensch, L Thompson. Would keep Vince.

Ricky Henderson .....player type ..streanths/weakness ...got pace ?
whats his worth in Crows eyes .

On 2013 form, hes a Lachie Hansen with more run.
Great half back interecept mark with a damaging kick.
Only really showed what he could do this year...
Id say worth about pick 20-30 somewhere in there...If polec is worth a 2nd round pick this guy is worth a higher 2nd round pick.

Haha not shooting the messenger mate but sounds like trying to sell your car and rocking up and going "well im asking $20k but ill take $15k"
Who is ever going to offer the 20k

Okay guys and gals interested to hear your thoughts on the below attempt at trade month for Adelaide.

Judge each individual step for it's fairness - not the end result. I think Step 5 is the most questionable, depends how keen Melbourne are to bring in established players though.

I'm trying to bring in Polec, Shaun Edwards and obtain a pick < 25 as the draft apparently drops away sharply after that. I am also working on the assumption we will only be using 1 live ND pick with two rookie upgrades being used on Laird and Hartigan, therefore later draft picks are useless to us. Also I am making an assumption Polec has nominated Adelaide and Port are aware of this hence why they would be willing to trade out pick 30.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

Step 1: Petrenko + picks 42 + 60 -> Port pick 30
Step 2: Pick 30 -> GWS Pick 35 + 53 + Shaun Edwards
Step 3: Pick 35 -> Brisbane Polec
Step 4: Shaun Mckernan + Pick 53 -> Collingwood pick 45 OR Carlton pick 47
Step 5: David Mackay + Pick 45/47 -> Melbourne pick 20

Adeaide
Gain: Polec, Shaun Edwards, 20
Lose: Petrenko, Mackay, McKernan, 42, 60

Brisbane
Gain: Pick 35
Lose: Polec

Port
Gain: Petrenko, 42, 60
Lose: 30

GWS
Gain: 30
Lose: Edwards, 35, 53

Collingwood / Carlton
Gain: Shaun McKernan, 53
Lose: 45 / 47

Melbourne
Gain: David Mackay, 45/47
Lose: 20
