We only bid on him because we were sure it would be matched and the story was it was to make our later picks harder for the Doggies with a particular player both teams had interest in rumoured to be Rowe. Thilthorpe was told what we were going to do beforehand.

That was enjoyable to watch! Lacklustre opposition but hey, hard to complain about a ten goal win.

In terms of our less fashionable players, I actually thought Laird and ROB were alright. Laird played the backline sweeper role well, and had some classy touches, most notably his clean half-volley pickup under pressure and subsequent handball to Dawson which led to a goal. Accumulated plenty of ball as always. ROB seemed to get more involved than usual, albeit against a debutant.

Milera mostly invisible but alright when he got among it. Sholl passable at best. Keays struggled to get involved, as did Curtin but both warmed into the game nicely.

Walker being the sub out option was a great choice. Draper with ten (mostly quality) touches in 1.5 quarters is a great return, and he also provided a fair bit in terms of pressure. Full game next week please!

ANB, Cummings and Peatling all played their roles well. Chalk and cheese compared to Murphy, Smith and McHenry...

Hard not to be excited about Rankine, Dawson, Soligo, Thilthorpe and Rachele... genuine class players in there.

No glaring holes in the side anymore, and genuine depth options available on all lines other than F50. Time for this side to start making statements!

I liked Gerald Healy say making the finals isn’t enough for this team. It’s about winning big finals.

Watching a lot of footy this weekend I have been most impressed with the following
