Picture this scenario: you are at home minding your own business when the doorbell rings and you are greeted by a bunch of strangers in nothing but their underpants singing 'Put a little love in your heart'. What do you do?

a) Slam the door and lock it tight.
b) Ring the police as their are weird people in their undies skulking around your otherwise peaceful neighbourhood.
c) Ring Bonds to complain about their stupid advertising campaign.
d) All of the above

Answer greatly depends upon gender of said bunch of strangers.

Classic case of people trying to justify their job / salary

Was nothing wrong with the old guy and his french wife ads....sure they were simple , but hardly annoying.
So what does Budget go and do ??

Agree totally, that little alien thing put me off so much I never even knew the company the ad was about until you mentioned it in this post.

Stupid gatorade cricket ad where they go on about some randoms batting average at age 16 compared michael clarkes average at the same age. What does that even mean? How does comparing batting averages 10 years apart even work. Someone with no knowledge of cricket wrote that ad me thinks

"We're here."

Too soon. They're pulling the plug on a stack of jobs, but they're still here to sell their products & take our money.

It's certainly disingenuous and in poor taste.

Been a fair backlash on those Holden ad's.

Can't believe they haven't pulled them.

Brain fade from whoever decided to give them the tick.

Who seriously will wear an empty KFC bucket in their day to day life? It's like it's a parallel universe.

Probably the same morons that will wear a watermelon skin on their head.
Next time you go to McDonalds or Hungry Jacks you should put the package on your head.Perhaps you'll start a trend.

It's like General Motors are actively trolling the ranks of unemployed and soon-to-be-unemployed Holden workers. C*ntbags.

Might be the long-term ploy they've got in play. Everyone dumps the Holden brand in disgust. GM quietly remove the brand from the marketplace altogether some time later.

No, the answer is much simpler than that: the local end has a marketing budget to spend, and spend it they will.

They'll be plenty of people on agency and client side who'll ant to milk the last of GM's marketing money. That's what's happening now.

The ads are pretty much the literal articulation of the communication strategy post pull-out i.e. "we're not here anymore but we still care for you".

As a strategy that's fine (kind-of), but when it's wrapped-up in such lazy half-baked creative that 'aint thinking about the message or tone, you get the offensive road accident currently on our screens.

I'm betting that sometime in January, you'll see a massive re-think of this offensive rhetoric, but it won;t be from the Australian marketing department or agency.

But until then, we'll have to put up with the offensive and totally disingenuous sign-off line: 'we're here to stay'.

Sheer BS and spin. And to the cynical lining-up of their brand whores, sorry, I mean brand ambassadors, how on earth could you appear in such an offensive ad? Oh yes, the message doesn't matter, it's all about the money.
