Chayce Jones once shifted onto the ball was the game changer in the second half.

If I'm reading the online stats correctly, it looks like he was our leading clearance player with 5 ... spending only a half in the guts.

Very enjoyable second half to watch.

I think Jones now wants to Geet involved constantly and has stopped deferring to others. He seems righout to make the next leap in his career.

Harry got hands on it, but had a few dumb errors. McAsey had one of his best games in the second half - he's got some great hands and is an excellent kick, he just needs to want to be involved more consistently.

Brown and MacPherson were both pretty good and Billy was pretty good too.

Himmelburg disappointing in the air but competed, Pedlar seemed threatening whenever he was near it, and Sholl, Worrell and Cook all can be pleased with what they offered (all around 20 disposals).

Sholl still quite ordinary in several contested moments in the game today I thought.

How can it be the most obvious selection at this stage when Crouch hasn't even played yet

Because we all know what mcrouch is gonna provide even before he’s played..

Another meaningless 30 possessions that dont do an ounce of damage to the opposition..

I think we have a large enough sample size at this stage to know exactly what we will get from Crouch. He will accumulate high 20 possessions with **** all metres gained. Half his possessions will put his teammates under immense pressure whilst the other half will be kicks high down the line after ignoring 10 options to move it on directly and decisively.

As I said earlier, he could be a great SANFL level mid. Even win a Magarey.

Won't translate to AFL though. Different game and hus lack of 360 IQ is an issue at the next level.

Is a pure straight line player.

I am disappointed they aren't persistenting with him at HB in the AFL team. His speed, attack on ball and general skills are great there.

BTW would love to be proven wrong and see him crack the midfield regularly and be the calibre of mid a pick 10 should be.

There is no glee in my assessment of his AFL level midfield potential.

Jones wouldn't replace Crouch.

Berry would be the one they would drop, which is unlikely.

Still, good to see Chayce doing well.
Need to play him in the midfield in the SANFL for the entire season and build from today (best showing playing in the midfield at the SANFL?). Parnell is a much better player in defense going forward.

There were at least two moments when he was knocked off the ball by the smallest of bumps - he still struggles with contested work.

Amen to the bolded. The programmed hospital handball in the last was a classic example of lack of game sense.

Do you mean the one in the last quarter on the wing?

That seemed like the recipient was jogging, when Jones wanted him to take off and receive the handball.

The idea was good, but he should have changed his mind when the recipient (maybe MacPherson?) clearly didn't want to be an option.

I think he's slowly working past the game sense questions - improving, certainly.

Looking forward to seeing Jones on ball, hoping he can recapture some good form and build on it for the rest of the season.
No better opportunity with Strachan in the ruck and against the Bloods
I personally would rather see him at HB in the AFL.

Push Dawson up the ground.

He has great attributes for that role and developing into a SANFL calibre mid would be disappointing.

If 6-6-6 wasn't a thing you could actually use that straight line speed from halfback a lot more at centre bounces like we did with Cameron and such.

No reason we can't do that now & give Jones bursts in the middle to increase our rotations.

Second-half changes pay off

Adelaide was slow out of the blocks and that led to a 16-point, half-time deficit.

SANFL Senior Coach Michael Godden and his staff made some strategic adjustments at the main break, including moving Chayce Jones into the centre and Luke Pedlar up forward.

Speaking to AFC Media post-game, Godden was pleased the switch paid off.

“I just felt that around the contest we were being beaten in the first half, so we put Chayce in there who hasn’t played much midfield time lately and he made a really big difference,” Godden said.

“I’m really happy for him (Jones) because he’s obviously playing halfback now and this is just another thing he can do."

Jones finished the game with 21 disposals, seven tackles and five marks, while Pedlar kicked two goals.

“I’m really happy with Peds because to his own admission the first half didn’t go the way he wanted to go,” Godden said.

“He went forward and it is really important to adapt and change and he did that.

“To go forward and get seven or eight touches and kick two goals in the second half is a great response.”

In the second half, Adelaide kept West Adelaide to just one goal, while piling on 10 of its own.

Crows always first for me now. Norwood 2nd.
I'm opposite. I follow SANFL Crows for the players. I don't cheer them to win like I do for Norwood.

I want them to play for future AFL success, not necessarily to put out the best team to win today at all costs.

I haven't worked out how to actively support that in a team.
