I reckon 12 wins is realistic, even with the new recruits I still see us dropping winnable games like has been the trend under Nicks. All I know is if Nicks fails this year he has to go and not for a rookie coach, a senior experienced coach. Again will wait and see where we are at after the first 5 games. That will tell us everything we need to know.

Like last season, we will know in the 1st month whether the Crows are in the finals mix or not.

We have a decent early fixture, so if we are not tracking well, Nicks will be looking for a new job.

We have one of the easiest opening months in all of football.

We are against #12, #11, #17 and #13 in the first month. We need to be 3-1 at a minimum if we are all serious.

The worry is that we are 1-9 in the first two rounds under Nicks.

Then the excuses at the end of the season when people say '' oh but we played 4 of the top 8 in the first 5 rounds '' rubbish we had last season

Someone said that? We went 0-4 to start the year against teams that ended up #13, #11, #3 and #10!

Should have at least gone 2-2 during that stretch.

& some believed the club's excuse of injuries which was complete bollocks.

Our poor start was all on Nicks & stupid defensive game plan. Should have been a sackable offence!

0-4 after R4 in 2024 to three teams that didnt even make the 8 in 2023.

They finished 15th,12th,14th and 4th at the end of the H&A season in 2023. (Suns,Cats,Freo and Dees).

Of these 4 teams only the Cats made the 8 in 2024.

I wish Nicks was for sale and someone would buy him - but I think you meant sackable.

But onto more serious topics - you better stop liking my posts and agreeing with me on this topic. You might lose your little fan boi who likes every post that disagrees with me. I don't want that on my conscience.

Not going to dwell on last year, that’s in the past now.
With the added depth brought in during the offseason and another year of experience into our younger core, I feel that the our list balance is now in a good place and I’m confident of a 13-14 win season and a return to the finals this year.

If we can get close to the top 8, either 9th or 10th, then Ill be alright with that.
I won't be!

We must play finals & as I'm sick of us missing.

I would like us to play finals as well, but I'm being cautious. We hyped them up way to much last year, me included, but I'm being very wary at this point in the year, still early days. I'll probably change my mind later on, but not at this point.

Double edged sword, make Finals and Nicks will probably get or look for a contract extension.

I dont believe Nicks can take us to our next flag.

Graham Cornes wrote about this very thing this morning. Highlighted some quote from Jordan Dawson recently about us lowering our eyes and focusing on what was immediately in front of us.

Hinted at a group that spent last preseason thinking finals and a coaching group trying to put a defence-first game plan in place that would stand up in September.

Hey guys...? What about beating the wooden spooner at Adelaide Oval? Should we try to kick a goal in Round 1? Whoops, we forgot those bits

Saints - should win - .67
(A) Bombers - should win if you're going to do anything this year - 1.33
Roos - should win at home but Norf will be competitive, danger game - 2
(A) SUNS - GC were tough to beat at home last year and will still be up and about in round 4 - 2.33
Cats - will Gee be shit or not? who knows. 2.83
(A) DOCKERS - unlikely but they're not invincible - 3.2
Blues - HGA might make this a 50/50 - 3.7
Port - showdowns are usually a 50/50 prospect - 4.2
(A) Pies - chance but underdogs - 4.5
Eagles - surely - 5.5
(A) swans - doubtful but stranger things have happened - 5.8
Lions - probably not but always a chance of upset at home - 6.1
(A) Hawks (TAS) - not without a chance but underdogs - 6.4
(A) tigers - yes - 7.4
Demons - I am tipping Melbourne to be good again, 50/50 with HGA - 7.9
(A) Dogs (Hell) - these are the kinds of matches you need to win to get in - 8.2
Suns - see Dogs - 8.9
Power - 9.4
Hawks - 9.9
(A) eagles - 10.9
Magpies - 11.4
(A)Norf - 11.9

12 wins but if you can snag an extra win vs expected results there's an opportunity to fill the bottom spot in the 8. The 3 big forwards + Rachele, Rankine, ANB and Keays should see you be potent in the forward half. Mids are adequate with an outstanding captain, and the fate of the team will come down to how well you can defend.

Yep, my mate Marco said the players got ahead of themselves, hmm, doesn’t the coach and the club set the agenda and the mindset and the players follow?

Since we got shafted against Sydney everything you heard from the club was we should have played finals, we expect to play finals and on the gameplan focus during the preseason was defence. You saw it in all our practice games, slow methodical ball movement, no risks. We took that approach up until the Carlton game we which won.

Never did hear the coaches or club admit they got it wrong, instead Nicks blamed the players for being out of form and during the B&F had a crack at the critics.

He’s an arrogant tosser with a huge ego.

One of his biggest failings is that he seems to struggle to get us "up" for games, and even worse when we are favourites.

The first 9 rounds will decide our season. It's chock full of winnable games, yet also chock full of the exact kinds of games we love to lose. Essendon, GC, Freo, Port away, and Geelong, GWS, Carlton at home. The only 2 games I have us as better than 50% for in that first stretch is St Kilda and NM at home.

None of those games are instant write-offs. Yet none (other than StK and NM) instill confidence. We could just easily be 2-7 as 9-0. If we go 5-4 or better then we're decently placed to navigate the tricky mid part of our season.

As soon as I started hearing the media pencil us in for finals and our players saying finals or bust I couldn't get a bet on quick enough for us to miss the 8. At that point we were $2 to miss the 8, easiest double up of cash ever.

If you want easy money, go Richmond on Sportsbet to be winless at different rounds and the odds are juicy as you go up.

No Dusty, Baker, Rioli, Bolton and Graham coming off a 2 win season with Bolta to miss early games.

No noticeable shit other team, North will improve.

I can see them going winless.
