I know youre trying to be ironic, but the reality with Tariek at this point is that he gets a lot of goals cheaply
At least he gets goals. We have 3 small forwards at the moment who don't. Is that the right balance? Maybe Tariek gets 2 cheap goals a game at AFL level as well. It would still be useful.

To be honest, I probably agree with you.

But I think we're never gonna know unless he gets three+ games at the senior level to find out. I haven't been calling for him to be included, but I think at some stage we just need to find out.

The concern I have will borlase is his lack of pace. I don't think he will make it along with mcasey who I'm certain will not make it. You can throw Frampton and Worrell in the same pile which means we must trade in a decent KPD from another club as a matter of urgency. If Butts and Murray went down god forbid we are completely stuffed.
Would Alex Keath be gettable from the Dogs? just turned 30 and a big KPD to see us through our rebuild

I think that many recommending the promotion of Newchurch have not watched him closely enough. Admittedly, he can kick a few goals, but his MO is that he does very little apart from that. Can we afford zero effort/output apart from a couple of opportunities in the square?

To be fair, in exactly one SANFL game this year he played a complete game, with running, tackling, and goalkicking, so he can do it, but that was a big exception. I think he needs to stay in SANFL until he is more consistent with effort. I'm sure we don't want to see him spend an AFL game mostly ball/opponent watching and choosing when to go. ;)
Pretty much this. He's much better this year and doing a lot more second efforts and tackling and on results been one of our most successful in the twos. I love how quick he is hand to foot and in our congested forward line I think that could be a great help. Similarly he seems to be really good at snap kicks and that will help in congestion too. I wonder if the club knows how big his tank is and worries that it will equate to his opponent running off him all day at AFL level.

I wouldn't say no to a debut but I can see why its not been forthcoming as well. I'm just happy with his progress after what he looked like last year. If he steps up next year equivalent to what he has this year he could be very, very handy.

Bigfooty posters - newchurch gets all cheap goals

This week's highlights - newchruch with a perfect crumbing goal in the 2nd, then gets in a great position and loses his opponent at a boundary throw in and then snaps a goal from the point post.

Some players may not have the engine they want but he has footy smarts

You realise you're watching "highlights"

I'd like to see him play against the Suns alongside Rachel, McAdam and the talls. It simply must translate to a higher scoring forward line.
A forward line 7 of Tex, Fog, Thilthorpe, McAdam, Rachele, Newchurch & rotating midfielder would be perfect thanks.

what the **** are you on about?.. cheap goals?..

ok, go on then smartarse.. give us your definition of what a “cheap goal” is.. and which of newchurch’s goals on the weekend were this “cheap type” you speak of.. actually.. go back and give us all a few time stamps from the highlights reels of a few of these cheap goals he’s kicked this year.. I mean, you’d hate us all to think you just completely made this up right?.. so it should be very easy to back it up..

do you even watch the SANFL games?

seriously with the levels you go to defend the list management and selection decisions the club makes I’d swear you actually work for them.. biggest club apologist on here..

as others said.. atleast he‘s kicking bloody goals.. unlike rowe, mchenry and, especially, murphy.

what?

you claimed that he kicks “cheap goals”.. the highlights of his two goals on the weekend show two pretty bloody good goals.. the second of which being an incredibly difficult snap from the boundary..

when this is pointed out to you your pathetic response is “you reslise you’re watching highlights”.. as if thats meant to be somehow relevant and helps your argument!

bahahahaha.., no shit, its the highlights showing all the goals kicked you fool..

you‘ve lost it.

In the SANFL

In the SANFL
rowie has played two sanfl games this year and only managed 1 goal..
he’s played 10 afl games for just 7 goals

murphy has played 9 afl games this year for 1… yep, just ONE ****ING GOAL!!..

mchenry has kicked 7 from all his afl games

these are disgusting levels of return from these lads. at what point do we say enough is enough and bring in a lad that has kicked more goals, albeit in the seconds, than these three blokes combined?..

Murphy and Ned have other contributions beyond goal kicking which are somewhat important. But goals kicked should be the first measure of a forward.
Rowe should be under immense pressure as without goals, he can't provide much else. His field kicking has been very poor recently too.

How many has Stengle kicked by himself?

I wish they'd just give the kid a game. It's not like Murph or Rowe are any good. McHenry is not a natural small forward either. Why are they so precious about selection when we are supposed to be rebuilding? We're not making finals anyway.

I would love someone who can crumb and get us some cheap goals ... we have to fight hard for most of them .

Rowe played as a midfielder in the SANFL you "fool".

I'm happy to give Bucky a run but if he plays to his current intensity levels he won't get near it.

Mate it's time to grow up and move out of mum's house.

The way you're carrying on about Newchurch you'd swear he was peak Eddie Betts, you need some serious help.

The kid disappears for long periods of time, so much so that you'd need to call in the SES to find him.

Everyone bags the crap out of Murphy and increasingly Rowe and McHenry, all 3 of them performed at a MUCH higher level in the SANFL at the same or very similar age.

If you want to argue that point then go aside, but you can't.
