TALIBAN AND PAKISTANI TROOPS TRADE FIRE ON AFGHANISTAN-PAKISTAN BORDER.
Things got heated early Friday in southeastern Afghanistan’s Paktia province as Taliban fighters and Pakistani troops turned Dand-e-Patan district, roughly 60 miles southeast of Gardez, the capital of Paktia province, into a war zone.
The battle kicked off at 1 a.m. yesterday and lasted for hours, with both sides exchanging heavy fire like it was a fireworks show gone wrong.
Reports say Pakistani rockets even hit civilian homes, but, as usual, nobody’s talking specifics about casualties.
The Taliban? Silent, as if nothing happened. This follows Pakistan’s airstrikes in Paktika three days earlier, which the Taliban claim killed 46 people, including women and children.
