Half a million dissapointed buyers from 05 if it did..

Anyway AFL games have the potential to sell quite big in Australia since most of the country follows it. It will never be bigger than Madden of Fifa because they sell so many bloody copies we will never compete.
If it is only 500,000 I think Platinum is very possible for AFL 2006.

Yeh, and those same dissapointed 500,000 people are probably all AFL fans looking for a game to play, so i wouldn't be worried about '06 lacking in the sales department.

EB at the glen had some promo boxes for the ps2 version (only version unfortunately) but EB in the city had nothing.

Yeah I saw those at Werribee on the weekend. They had some old screenshots on there (the player detail hadn't been addressed when they were taken) so it's kinda false advertising but in a good way as the players have improved since then...

theres nothing on it over here in perth. went to harbour town EB games, they said it was out on the 20th there were no promo boxes or nuthin.

maybe since harbour town is a warehouse direct place (bloody cheap stuff too! the eb there has most new games under 45 bucks :D picked up King Kong for $20 brand new not second hand - theyve got god of war and final fantasy X2 and other new and old games for about $30) they wouldnt have anything like that.

next time i go to westfield carousel ill have a look at the EB there. pretty tiny store (15 square metres tops) but has loads of demos - its a hotspot for gaming :D

Nuh.

Hey I've got an idea for 2007, customizable names if you play Footy Fanatic, there is a list of draftee first names and surnames and you are free to add, remove or change anytime you like. Would be awesome in 2007 ;) Would eliminate stupid names - Aisake Riewoldt anyone? Taghd O'hAilpin?

All pros, no cons (although typing with the controlelr will take ages - but you won't have to do it much and not at all if you don't want ;))

Wait until you play the 2006 version, you'll understand where our focus has been this time around and why extra stuff like that listed above needs to be added after the gameplay has been improved upon. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that the gameplay was the area that really needed addressing.

I understand that it looks light because you guys have 2005 still in your minds but I reckon you'll see 2006 as a big improvement when you play it. The game still has a fair way to go but like I have said on numerous occassions already it's heading in the right direction.

That's what I wanted to hear. :)

Good game play is what can really make a game imo. The extra side attractions would be good but as long as the main problem is fixed it's looking great. :thumbsu:

Don't worry, we're looking at making all players editable whether they are current listed players or generated players. How far we take that is another thing all together. I reckon the bare minimum will be names, numbers, captaincy, preferred position. Other areas that may be included are hairstyle, hair colour, skin tone, boot style, socks up/down, long/short sleeves etc. The hope is to have a player editor/creation tool included into the game. I stress though that this is the 'hope'.

I'm pretty sure its 500,000 here, and if im not mistaken 05' went platinum.

Where do you get this figure and info from?

If it is 500,000, then 2006 version will not go platinum, not as PS2 only!

Playstations website. Also, don't be so sure, if '05 can go platinum, this one has the potential to, especially if it's marginly any good because almost every AFL fan is dying for a good/fun AFL game.

Also, It's obvious you don't own a PS2.

You can but you can't be specific about who it is. It's done by selecting a defensive midfield and def50 setup. Players push back and the half forward line play across the middle.

Just with this FH, is there anything in the game that tells you that having a def50 and defensive midfield = loose man in defence? and what other tactical settups do?

maybe by displaying small images of ovals with dots symbolizing players? etc.

hard to explain.

EDIT: this kind of helps: http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/afl99/391761/

Yep you can do it on-the-fly through a hud which is activated with the d-pad. Up/Down cycles though the areas of the ground and left/right cycles through the types (attacking/defensive/neutral). It can also be done by pausing the game and going to 'Tactics'. On this screen you get a more in-depth description of the tactic being employed. For a visual guide to movement and positioning - all tactical setups are shown in diagram format in the game manual.

You can also check the setup by pausing the game at any stage and going to the Instant Replay mode. A special camera is in there this year that allows you to go to any player or umpire on the field and zoom in or out of his position. This will give you the greatest visual example of where players are for particular setups and a fantastic idea of their movement.

I know what you are after information-wise with that artwork but unfortunately the only artwork I have is used in the manuals and as such can't be made public till the release date.

I summary though you'll have plenty of info about what each tactic does and with the camera how effective it is during the game with regards to player positioning.

Few Suggestions For an AFL game.

Media and Board interaction.

Have a media section/ news desk in the main Coaches screen (like in CM) containg things like fans being unhappy or players rumoured to be traded etc.

Control training sessions.

Player contracts

Marketing and Finances- optional being able to manage stuff such as merchandising and season memberships, would be great (ie if your a poor team like Bulldogs get only 92.5% of salary cap).

Stadium Managment and expansion- ie making Subiaco massive.

*Pre-season training (not sure on during season training)
*Player moods (want money, hate coach, miss family ect)

*Create own leagues and/or random league

Awards - AA side, brownlow, Coleman, norm smith etc

Mark and Goal of the Year
Players MVP
Supporters Player of the Year for each club

Coach choses
Club B&F (given a 54321 each week)
Best Clubman (chosen by coach at the end of the year)

Fatigue

Good player editor

Give players a personality. EG
Form
Like/dislike others
Club preferences
City preference
Position preferences
Tempers
Player Loyalty - IE Pay cuts
Players wishing to leave due to: unhappy with coach, wanting more money, wanting more opportunity, want to return home etc

A LOT more media. Which can effect players performances - eg fans being unhappy or players rumoured to be traded etc

Comprehensive histories. Most goals kicked in a game, top 100 games/goals of all time, team record books etc

Also it would be great if u could implement the rookie system and the rookie draft

Player rankings for each game, assistant coach telling you opposition tactics.
