I can't reveal much, but the demo isn't available to the public (I think).... It's hard to say a lot about it, as the demo only has 2min quarters, and is on easy....but it does seem better and more playable than last years. Tactics are cool....especially with kickouts! Love seeing the huddle work.

Cool but why on earth can't you "reveal much"? I'm sure you don't work for IRG. Cmon mate, where'd ya get it? ;)

McDougall starts off at Full Forward for the Eagles.

You are totally right. McDougall is the FF in the final version. I got confused as Lynch was there in the early days before the player ratings were completed. As it stands they are rated equally but McDougall got the nod.

The only one I anguished over was Phil Matera. He's a listed player even though he isn't likely to play but I included him anyway - if anything it boosted the Eagles overall rating having him in there.

All this is kinda irrelevant as you can setup your own side and use it week in, week out. The only time it becomes relevant is when you 'generate' the lineup and the game chooses the best players based on ratings and preferred positions.

How about the graphics, surely you can comment on them? are they smoother than 05? i thought the graphics in 05 were quite rough especially the stadiums, they were recreated right, it's just they were very unpolished, uno with all the jaggered lines etc although i think it could have just been some of the camera angles, especially the centre bounce angle...

And the players graphics, any good?

McDougall > Lynch ATM :D Lynch is a log and Doogs is in very hot form in the WAFL.

Matera? o.o He ain't playing this year ;) I was going to ask that but never got round to it :p Is he in the starting lineup?

Oh and also, do players have preferred positions like "HFF" or "FB" or "FP" instead of "F" "B" or "HB" etc. This created problems in season in 2005 because Andrew Lovett played CHF for the Bombers after Lucas retired and when I traded Nicoski for Riewoldt, he played CHF for the Saints :p Also when I played a season using Port, Wirrpanda was playing full back!

Cheers

BlackMamba would you happen to be the same bloke who was on the XboxWorld Forums last year talking about AFL Prem 2005? I'm pretty sure that user was called blackmamba too

Player preference is far more specific this year. There are positions like LHF, RHF, LBP, RBP, FF, CHF etc. The only general one is W which covers two positions. All players have a primary and secondary preferred position.

Hey Fiery Hawk,
I have a few questions for you. They basically refer to the demo of the game.
1. You said a while back that it was possible to choose who takes the kick-ins. Just wondering how that can be done? I can't find it in the demo.
2. Have you found that sometimes you can unleash gigantic torpedoes? I did one from Full Back which, with some bouncing, ended up at HFF.
3. How do you direct taps at ball-ins? I mean, is the direction you choose taken with respect to the ball-in camera angle, the normal 'side' camera angle or the direction the ruckman is facing?
4. I think the free kick for when a kick-in goes out of bounds without being touched has been left out. Is this in the final version, because I thought it was in last year's version???
5. I can't check this on the demo, but last year, when you used the EyeToy Digimask feature, and then substituted off the character with the EyeToy Cameo, his replacement partially had the EyeToy Cameo, and partly had a normal head. He was Tasmanian!!!!! Hehehehe...just wanted to know if this bug has been fixed in the final version.

At last, some game specific questions...

1. Choose 'Setup Team' after choosing teams and assigning controllers. Then press L1 or R1 and cycle through to 'Roles'. Then choose which player/s you want to take kick-ins and ruck inside fwd50/def50.
2. Yeah someone kicked a goal playing as Brian Harris from a goal line clearance. A magnificent 150m+ torpedo! From all reports this has been fixed.
3. I admit that the camera cuts can be confusing. Just direct the tap in the direction of your default camera despite the cameras changing in cutscenes. I believe the input is relative to your choice of default camera.
4. I spotted that a while back but I'm pretty sure it's been rectified since then.
5. Not too sure about the Eyetoy bug. Was never a big fan of that feature so I don't use it when I play. (Not to say it's not a GREAT feature however! :D It's just not my cup of tea)

Has anyone seen any ads yet, and FH, is it a definite to be out on the 20th, i haven't heard anything about it apart from a little bit on the net and one article in the sun?

OK, that's why I couldn't do it. The demo doesn't let you setup the team before the game, or change the difficulty, or stadium etc...It just starts the Quick Match straight away. I like the idea of the Roles thing. Sounds like true coach-style football.

Awesome. I wouldn't want that to be in the game, although it was funny to see.

Cool, thanks for that.

Once again, that'd be another thing people would be unhappy about if it snuck through. (I'm talking about the kick-in-going-out-of-bounds-without-being-touched thing).

That's OK. Personally, I love seeing myself in the game. Even better, I got my dad (who hates computer games), to do a Cameo, and I put him in as well.
We also tried that with This is Football 2005, and in that it looked awesome. Best part was getting him red carded, or injured!!!! The difference between AFL and TIF2005 is the face doesn't get animated in AFL, like it can do in the creation tests (i.e Smile, Angry, Sad etc.). Just something to think about next time if you can be bothered.

I think he was referring to the hardness levels. If on hard you really have to be involved tactically if you want to win, which I'm pretty sure was included
Basiclaly yeah.

Option 1 was that you could win by 40 points every time with no tactics/lineups etc.

Option 2 was that unless you use matchups, tactics and use the ball wisely, you'll lose by 6-7 goals.

The decisions guy wanted Option 1 and you were trying to convince him Option 2 was what the game needs.

We all said Option 2 :D
