Fiery Hawk,
Another question. With marking, I'm guessing you have to press it when that shrinking circle hits the green circle....
But how do you take a speckie?
Do you have to be in a good position for it and press it on the Orange circle?
Or is it, be in a good position, and press R1 and X on the Green circle?
I've only had speckies taken on me so far

Yes, players will kick off their preferred foot. I am in charge of making sure they kick off their proper foot this year so you know who to blame if something is wrong! :thumbsu:
Sorry to bring up the past, but I'm going through the entire thread (and boy is it taking a long time). Just saw this comment.
I haven't looked too deeply yet at the preferred foot of the players, but I did notice that Gehrig has kicked off his right in set shots....
Don't know if this was just overlooked (I'm sure it'd be annoying going through every player in the league and making sure every guy kicks properly).
How have you gone about doing the preferred foot thing? Because players still use their opposite foot on the run if forced to, but aren't as skilled at it. So will the accuracy decrease when on the wrong side?

I believe the controls are R1+X and you need to time it to the outside circle. It's pretty hard (well I find it to be anyway) which is how it should be I suppose. Also executing the animation doesn't necessarily guarantee a successful attempt...

I personally went through and put left or right for all players in the data. So all players should kick with their preferred foot. Unfortunately there is some old code dealing with set shots that basically says depending on which side of the ground the player is he'll probably use that foot (e.g. left side of the field facing the goals left foot, right side of field facing the goals right foot). This mainly deals with left footed players. Right footed players always kick with the preferred foot unless forced onto the left. The effectiveness of their non-preferred foot is reduced. The old code has been removed for 07.
Overall though there's a huge majority who kick on their preferred foot.

Looks pretty darn good. I'll have to play it at my mates house.

Re: Fixing up the AFL games

Why are Collingwood vsing Adelaide down at Geelong? :p

I'm still hating the fact that I can't play it due to it being a PS2 exclusive. Sure there is no chance of a later release on PC?

Quickmatch and Single Match modes allow you to choose teams and venues. I'm guessing the reviewer wanted to show some variety.

Also, where can I get my hands on this demo that people have? Maybe I could get it to work on a PS2 emulator on the comp?

Not sure who got the demo and from where you can get it. The game is out in 2 weeks so maybe wait till then? Sorry.

Remember when viewing the vids featuring specific players (in particular Barry Hall) that facial hair is random so don't take it as gospel that he has facial hair because in the next game he might not. Hopefully in 07 the players will have facial hair types assigned to them in their profile that you can edit. Hopefully...

Facial Hair random....that's pretty cool....people forget to shave sometimes. Although full-on beards don't grow in a week or anything, just a bit of a shadow.

True, and due to the fact it is always dark facial hair it makes for a really cool looking Jason Akermanis sometimes!

Surely you'd atleast get a free copy of the game on PS2 as a tester though?

You could then get a cheap 2nd hand PS2 for a 100 bucks which is how much normal people will have to pay for the game anyway.

That'd make the game unrealistic.....It's never be a pleasure to look at Jason Akermanis! hehehe

Just finished reading the entire thread...
It took a while.......Meh, I'm on holidays.....I don't have to do anythng anyway.
Some pretty cool ideas mentioned.....some extreme, but definately some that should be put into 2007.

blackmamba, a while ago in this thread fiery hawk said something about the tackling now being similar to rugby 06 where you dive to tackle the player but you can miss them, can u tell me if the tackling has changed because last years was shocking, sometimes just wouldnt tackle at all

Yep, it definately has. If you go to tackle someone and you're not in the correct position for it, the player kinda stumbles and tries to reach out in the direction he's facing.
However, you can dive to tackle them (for instance if you want to get them just before they get boot to ball). You can miss him if not facing the right way, or get him if you are (or even be late and give away a down field!).
I think you dive for him when you are say a metre away from him, and you're holding either sprint (L1), Aggression modifer (R1), or both, while attempting to tackle....I'll find out which button combo does this a bit later.

whats so hard to work out? he said only ps2 games can go platinum...

Like lol I did not work that out

But still does not prrove that AFL 2005 on PS2 ever went platinum which is what he first said and has not backed up. With proof.

Possible future of PLaystaion !

Read this article and it kind of backs up what I;ve been saying
Who is going to Pay $600 US$ for a console!
Yeah for anyone about to post and say AFL 2006 is on PS2, but next year and the year after it won't be
You think Sony are going to put so mcuh money into a game and not have it solely for their new console?
How many PS2 players can afford $1000 AUD??
