Re: AFL 2006 Talk

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=draft

That has the info on the NAB draftees, click on each players name for a description on each player, as for trying to get as much info as possible on the players I would take a look at the phantom drafts from the draft and trading board and see what info is helpful on that.

Thanks chief, any help is appreciated! :D

Re: AFL 2006 Talk

But if I had the chance to take it out and replace it with better gameplay features or even a "team training" mode to go with the career mode.

Mission mode won't be removed as it's already there and is a relatively easy feature to update (provided you're not the designer setting it all up with player stats etc  ). The improvements we are making for 2007 will make it a much more interesting mode to participate in and complete.
I suppose I should have mentioned that Career mode has a more in-depth training mode this time around providing you with the ability to train your players whether it be individually, in small groups or as a whole, twice a week between games therefore having a direct influence on their performance in the match.
We have more to reveal about Career mode in the near future especially in regards to training so keep an eye out. :thumbsu:

Re: AFL 2006 Talk

I think that if there are reasons for playing the missions ie: Unlock Videos and other features then the Missions would be a fantastic implement to the game, if there isnt unlockables from the missions then it becomes a bit pointless.

And if there are going to be unlockables I would look at the NBA 2K7 game for how to do them, in the NBA game it has an area called the crib which is a big room in which you can fill it with memrobelia and Jumpers Trophies and many more things, you can even unlock mini games like Darts and Air Hockey.

We are looking at the inclusion of unlockable content but not to the degree you have described here. We have a heap of new content for 2007 that could be brought in by way of unlockables.
Like everything else at the moment we are prioritizing content to see what we can get into the game in our limited development time. Will let you know if we end up having an unlockables section in the game.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk

FH im really impressed with all youve revealed I just hope its as good as your saying it is :D
any news on a estimated release date?
I think the idea is to have the game out earlier than last year but it depends on when we can obtain all the final information about uniforms/sponsors/fixtures etc from the AFL.

Re: AFL 2006 Talk

Will rain have an effect on play this year. ie:not many marks taken as in 2006 didnt seem to matter.
Keep up the good work looking forward to it and will it be released on PS3 aswell?

Rain should have more of an impact this year especially with dynamic changing weather.
It's a PS2 only release again this time around.

Thanks for all the great info FH,

I was thinking about the game last night when I was going to sleep and I was wondering if any minor improvements had been made on the animation of bumping into players? in particular taking someone out head on at full pace?

For example, I love running at my opponents flat chat and then giving them a right crunch with the hip & shoulder and keep streaming forward, but the actual animation of the hip & shoulder is the same for both a standing hip & shoulder and a full paced hip & shoulder. I would love to see my player run at his man, clean him up and still keep going, rather than just stop dead still to initiate each bump.

I hope I'm making sence?

FH. Big bug just discovered.

PLAYERS DONT AGE IN CAREER SOMETIMES

I have a file I'm up to 2014 on. In the 2013 draft I saved before the draft and looked at some existing players thinking "jeez arent they retired yet?" and I got these players. Ages are displayed next to them

Jason Torney (34)
Nathan D Brown (34)
Jonathan Giles (21 )
Beau Muston (24)
Andrew McDougall (24)

Now this is the 2013 draft.

So. In Career, there is a bug with players aging. Maybe it's when they're delisted they dont age, I don't know. But I do know that this is a huge bug that can ruin Career mode.

Cheers

don't quote me but I think it's unlimited. Commentary was recorded to about 2010 I think with regards to intro's to Grand Finals etc but I think gameplay-wise you can go until you want to stop.
There's talk of limiting it to 10 years but I'd like to see the Hawks go for at least eleven straight!

I noticed this too, but with the one player in Mitch Morton who I picked up in about 2016 at 21 years old.

I found an EyeToy bug the other day.
If you load 4 cameos, and then assign them to players and play a game, it all works fine.
Then after the game you remove one of the cameos, and load a different one.
When you go and setup the team and assign the cameos again they've all changed, and the new one won't appear in the actual game even though it says it has been assigned.

It's not a big issue, especially for people without an eyetoy. But one thing I was also thinking was that if you 'edit' a player, and make them as yourself, with your EyeToy Cameo on them, then you'll have to Load the Cameo everytime you start the PS2. Once again, not much of a big issue, but it's just a little time consuming.

Just found something interesting. It's sounds a bit complicated, but if you have done something like this before then it should be easy to understand.
It involves what I mentioned earlier about the size of the Game Saves for AFL.
I noticed that when you save a career, it saves space for 4 careers, 3 of which you aren't using. Along with that it saves the Settings, all into the one file on your memory card. This results in a 1.31MB file, and with the possible addition of career stats in 2007, myself and others are worried about the file size.

Now, I found a way to transfer my Game Saves (for any game) from the memory card, to a USB Stick, and then onto the Computer.

When I view these on the computer, you find out that the saved 'file' isn't actually a file, but a folder containing a few files (10 for AFL). From my knowledge of any Game Saves, this folder usually consists of one main file (the actual game saved data), and two or three files that are used for the icons you see in the Memory Card Browser.

For AFL there is six main files.
The first one is 0 bytes, the next 4 are 293 kb, and the last one is 4.98 kb.

Now I thought, well the first one is probably the one that the game recognises, the 4.98 kb one is probably the saved settings, and the other four are the data for each of the Career Slots.

So, seeing as I'm only using the first Career Slot, the settings, and possibly the first one, I deleted the other 3 293kb files.

This results in a 462 kb folder, much less than 1.31 MB originally.

I wasn't sure if this would work, but I put this edited folder back onto the memory card, checked it in the Memory Card Browser, and everything seemed OK.

Chucked in AFL 2006, and it WORKED! It just shows the other Career Slots as Empty. Settings were loaded fine, and so was the One Career I intended on using.
And even when you save your settings or Career from then on, it will only save the slots needed. This means the game save file will stay at 462kb.
This saves a fair bit of space, and will be useful if AFL 2007 will still have all the data saved to the one file on the Memory Card.

Also, from this, it seems that if people believe that the Game Save file size is a big issue, then it wouldn't take too much programming to make it into multiple files on the Memory Card. Of course, I might be incorrect in saying that, and it might mean a complete method-change of saving the data, which would be fairly time consuming.

Enough rambling from me. Has this gone right over the top of people's heads??? Sorry if it has....

Dont really understand why people want to limit the amount of seasons when theres the ability to just keep it unlimited. Like i find myself going thru seasons quickly coz i only tend to play the blockbuster games now in the seasons.

i also think bannana kicks should be bought back into the game. it was quiet successful in the previous years and i think it will be another great feature...even if i think this is not possible maybe a metre or bar can appear when pressing say "R3" or even when your in the forward 50 shotting for goal. also the kick could be availible by pressing "R3" and holdin "X" for the power.im just saying this becuase mostly all the other buttons are used up already and this would make it more easier to kick bannana's...just a suggestion ; )

Another question folks....does anyone know where I can obtain information relating to player contracts? I don't need to know how much (I assume that isn't public knowledge) but rather how long they are contracted for and when they are likely to be out of contract? There always seems to be information available about who is out of contract during the season - just wondering where to get it all? Anyone?

Yea I did play it, it was pretty much the same the only difference was the cover of the game, the disk had james Hird on it and the layout of the match was but that was it. Bit strange.

EDIT: I made a very quick copy of the cover in paint, it looked better in the dream. (I'm not very good with photo shop yet).

I know exactly what you mean....Used to love decking players in AFL 99 and continue running for the ball.
Here's a video of it.
