Come on mate you will not beat Sydney and you know it, Eagles will win there last two and Essendon will win next week, you have as much chance of making the finals as Carlton and Footscray do.

I agree it's unlikely, but 7 weeks ago there was 'no way' we'd even be in with a chance now.

Most likely result is still that we lose to Sydney and it comes down to percentage between Weagles and Adelaide (Richmond 10th...sorry).

But where there's a chance, there's hope.

Sydney will have nothing to play for bro. dead game
youre assuming that Freo will beat the Hawks, the Hawks will beat the Cats and that Sydney will go easy on Richmond if the aforementioned prerequisites are met, or even that Richmond are capable of beating Sydney on their home ground

Essendon 7th
West Coast 8th (if Adelaide lose to North and Tigers lose to swans then I think Eagles make it)
Richmond 9th LOL (more likely 10th but 9th would be so much better to see)
we definitely could finish 9th even if we win the last 2, however you know what I'd take 9th on the back of 8 or 9 games in a row when our season was pettering out to nothing. Regardless if we make finals this year we have gained respect back and this could hopefully be the building of this club. Hopefully we learn from this season and don't start playing after the season is half way through in 2015.

Respect back - absolutely.

You are back to that 5-8 side that you were over the whole of 2013.
Hope you can kick on from there.

c'mon mate we were not going to beat port, c'mon mate we we're not going over to perth and beating west coast, c'mon mate we were no chance against the bombers and c'mon mate no way were we travelling to adelaide and beating the crows on their home turf. So yeah mate, we are no chance against sydney up there, right?

have a good record against you blokes the last few years. Even this year before we started our run of wins we nearly beat you down here. Anz suits us much better than the scg, will be tough no doubt but don't for a second think on the back of 8 wins in a row(provided we beat the saints) that we go up there not thinking we can win.

Sydney are not Adelaide and John Longmire is not Ross Lyon who will rest 11 players in the last round. If anyone thinks Richmond will beat Swans Rd 23 because Sydney will see it as a dead rubber and fall into the Richmond making finals fantasy, mysteriously losing the competitive edge they play with every week you are going to be disappointed.

I'm assuming that Hawthorn beat Geelong.

And history has shown over and over that teams have lost when the positions are set. The players start thinking about next week.

Just to mention a few.
West Coast 1991
Essendon 2000
St Kilda 2009

I agree with you entirely, it's definitely a lot better spot to be in that you were 8 weeks ago. However you hear this every year about the Tigers: "we have gained some respect back and next year looks rosy and it could be the building of the club". And next year comes and they do not step up and be mediocre again. Must be bloody frustrating for you guys.
I actually believe you guys lack leadership among the group to set really high standards.

we are no guarantee against Gold Coast at metricon at all.

It's not guaranteed but with their injuries, if you are good enough to be a finals side, you should be beating them in round 23.

Kangaroos still haven't made the finals yet.

They could finish anywhere at this stage, Who knows with them.

OMG how awesome. Richmond Vs Sydney / Kangaroos Vs Melbourne Saturday night decides who makes 8th spot. That would be a great night.

Similar %
Both teams lose
Both teams win

This is true, but im not sure we are good enough to be a finals side, also have you looked at our injury list?
Lecras, Selwood, Yeo, Waters, Rosa, Wellingham, Sheppard, Ellis who are all best 22...
Admittedly all these combined maybe only just = Abblett.

How does the result of the Kangaroos v Demons game decide who makes 8th spot??
