Feels bad for the individual blokes hauling a** at Big Ant to provide patches ASAP.

But how did it come to this in the first place? Time that could’ve been spent on quality of life updates is being wasted to crunch towards making the game playable.

Released fairly late in terms of the season. Got delayed by 2 weeks yet looks nowhere near a functioning product. How?

Gross mismanagement and knowingly releasing a broken product to cash in on your $$$ while they chase tail
Can we sticky this post, might save me reading another hundred odd just like it.

Let's hope there is some competition out there when BigAnt lose the licence. Building on the biggest budget ever for an AFL game, there is such demand that an enthusiastic and devoted team could create something special. You'd have to imagine there is some talent out there that could flourish, if given the resources.

It doesn't help. You actually need Big Ant to keep the license and be able to re-iterate on the product they have. That's why AFL games haven't been able to continually get better because we're looking for the next dev to do it when in reality you need the same teams building on it year after year.

But when you're the only AFL game, people will buy it.
I was thinking about this last night.

What I would love to see is some talented, passionate indie dev team come along as a third option and make a game where they just purely focus on getting the gameplay experience A1.

Their first iteration might not have any licensing, real life likenesses etc (Brisbane Lions for example probably called the Brions or something with a generic lion logo), but they hammer that sucker's gameplay (and gameplay options, customizations etc) into such a state that everyone takes notice of it and can't deny it as a true Aussie Rules experience.

Then the expensive difficult real life license stuff comes later.

And so long as they make all the team names etc editable...

Sunken cost fallacy. This may be the case if this was their first AFL game. All we are wasting now is time and resources that another small company could use as tremendous development opportunity.

There’s actually a bigger company who released a sports game with no licenses that focused on gameplay first in addition to a wide variety of customisation options. They revolutionised Cricket gaming and outcompeted the licensed product at the time.

You can return it and move on to something more productive.
Half-baked demands and expectations won't fix anything though.

All you have done since you came on the forum is argue with everyone re their opinions, which like you, are entitled to have. Then if someone disagrees with you or has a differing opinion you berate them and insult their intelligence.

If your IQ is so high (which in one way or another you have been saying without saying it) why don’t you just click the little logout button, get off the app, iPad, pc or whatever it is you use and take some of your own advice. “Move onto something more productive”

People have looked forward to this game for a long time and to be served up the pile of shit that is AFL 23 we are all entitled to voice our opinions.

Thread is getting ridiculous now lol

People don't seem to read the thread but again, Pro team was never promised for launch, focus on the bugs in the game so they can be fixed instead of saying the same stuff over and over

That is neither true nor fair.
Ashes 2013 was a game that was never completed.
AFL 23 is a game that had a patch failure that will be rectified in a week.

You really are desperate to find misery.

I can't give you an exact answer, because I don't know.
As a hypothetical though, have you considered that a single individual may have caused the failure, and that the primary duty of care is protecting their wellbeing ahead of your entitled tantrum?

The only fact is none of us know exactly what has happened, but are not entitled to a detailed explanation about what happened either. The government regularly runs billions of dollars over budget on heavily delayed projects, and we don't get any apology or explanation. This is reality.

So you don't have to accept the game or explanation. You can return it and move on to something more productive.
Half-baked demands and expectations won't fix anything though.
only tantrums I'm seeing here are from people like you lmao

This isn't completely true.

WW had 5 attempts. License held for 2009-2022

Iris Guru 5/6 attemps depending if you count premiership version of 2004. License held for 2002-2007.

How long should we be giving them for a decent improving game?

But yes Big ant should get as long as both of them imo

Game is getting a little too much hate imo, still better than any other AFL game to date and half the game does look really good, definitely disappointing but you're acting like it's a complete write off

The AI handballing and instant decision making is killing the game for me.

Hoping this is patchable as it is my biggest issue with the game as well.

Honestly, if they manage to improve this, make the AI significantly harder (defenders staying closer to their direct opponents, ability to spoil, ect.) and tune the tackling/player responsiveness, along with introducing tactical options, the game could be quite good.

There are some solid core mechanics underneath but they can't really be shown off with the game in its current state.

Uneducated criticism isn't an opinion.

Pardon my steam noobness here but the patches auto update as soon as the PC is turned on in most cases dont they?

I haven't seem a update file come through last night but it's set to be done automatically so I assume it is

Played a management game last night, no crash.

Still fairly easy though.

Looking forward to the AI buff!
Gameplay feeling any better?
