STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

They are not impossible to beat at marking at all, those that cannot spoil are quite simply (and no offence) s**t.

Spoiling is simple, there are valid complaints here but this one is simply people being s**t.
Spoiling is simple once you realise you just wait for the vibration, then wait longer and then flick the stick. Why we're not rewarded for flicking the stick the moment it vibrates, I'll never understand. But it's the same timing for marking, so now I never spoil, I just mark everything.
 
I’m loving a lot about this new ps5 patch but I still can’t get through two consecutive games without it crashing/freezing.

Also, love that Freos starlight guernsey is in the game, it’s absolutely horrendous to look at but I love that it’s in the game 😂

Tackle the player, everyone just stands and watches and then he just gets back up and kicks it 😂😂 god this game makes me laugh.
Besides the controlling and command issues with the game, the limited support from CPU controlled teammates is problematic. There's no tackling support, and there's no way to give instructions to CPU controlled teammates, ie be a loose option, man-up, support teammate, flood area, etc.
 
Just played my first game on version 1.11 and I had a blast. I had no issues chaining plays together that felt good and smooth, I was able to tackle and defend.

Port Adelaide 8.8.56
Melbourne 10.3.63

5 minute quarters on hard difficulty PS5.

Honestly that was the most fun I've had playing an AFL game however there are things that still need ironing out.

- AI positioning is still an issue, AI gets far too many players to a contest to your none.

- AI incorrect disposal doesn't seem to exist.

- 2nd ruck never seems to switch in to the ruck.
 
Next time I send another ticket out, I'm gonna suggest using that spoil/slap mechanic to knock the ball out of a tackled players hands to your advantage, and grabbing the ball out of a tackled players hands.

Not sure if I just suck at ruck but I decided to play Draper forward and Phillips in Ruck because I wasn’t winning hitouts with Draper
After about 2 mins, Draper went into Ruck and Phillips to a forward flank
They didn’t rotate again for the rest of the game
Really odd
Players still getting stuck in front of the man on the mark is a big issue for me too
Means the opposition always have a loose because I’ve basically got 2 players on the mark

The 2nd player on the mark is one of my bigger gripes!
Automatic outnumber every single time somewhere else on the ground
 
My personal gripes:
1. Tackling seems random, some time you tackle them and they just get the ball out too easily even though I'm holding Y
2. CPU seems to be able tackle you instantly.
3. Players control feels a bit sluggish, tank like.
4. Why is there wind in Marvel stadium? Are the heaters/air cons on turbo?
5. The game tanks on my PC (PC isn't the best but still OK for red dead 2 etc.)
 
Hallelujah…..Praise the Lord!!!

For the first time since release I’ve managed to finish not just one online match but 3, that’s right, 3 COMPLETED ONLINE MATCHES.

To make the experience even better the games played fairly well and evenly and felt like a decent recreation of footy and I can’t say I’ve said that prior to today.

Had an absolutely cracking win where I put on a smooth play going from coast-to-coast and nailing a goal after the siren.

Some things that remain an issue:

  • Handballs are still pretty inconsistent;
  • Breaking tackles is still quite easy;
  • Goalkicking is still way too simple;
  • AI player movements are still pretty ordinary especially in defence;
  • Player switching needs serious work;
  • The bug where no one can pick the ball up is annoying AF;
  • It still feels like the games going to freeze after every time players skip a cut scene.

Overall, this game has come a long way from day one and while it still has a way to go yet, I’m finally enjoying it consistently.

At launch I rated this game a 2 and I’d say it’s now a 6 for me. That’s my own personal opinion so YMMV.

Online feels great, as of yet no freezing when skipping cutscenes but my friend crashed. All in all so much more fun after that last patch to play online.
 
BigAntStudios JNT BA - Aesthetic and Immersion Suggestions/Questions, you can reply to any or all of the questions/suggestions and it will be nice if u can reference what you are responding to using, for example, Q1 for a question and S1 for a suggestion, coinciding with the number of the question or suggestion.

  • (Question 1) Will ANZAC Round games and all Finals have the Australian National Anthem as part of pre-game cutscenes similar to Grand Final
  • (Question 2) Is there a rough timeframe (one week, two weeks, a month...) of when the missing ANZAC guernseys will be making it into the game (Essendon, Collingwood and Hawthorn)
  • (Question 3) Is there a rough timeframe (one week, two weeks, a month...) of when the Grand Final logos on guernseys will be implemented alongside the golden AFL premiers logo on guernseys the following year after winning the GF
  • (Question 4) If you are unable to acquire the access for all 18 team's indigenous guernseys (5/18 for example), will you still include those of which you do have access for or will you not include any at all to keep things 'fair'.
  • (Question 5) Any updates on the progress of the acquisition of the indigenous guernseys so far?
  • (Suggestion 1) Special Logos on the ground in place of "Toyota Premiership Season Logo" for special rounds (ANZAC Logo for ANZAC Round, Sir Nicholls logo for Indigenous Round, Finals Series logo for finals games, Grand Final Logo for Grand Final etc.)
  • (Suggestion 2) Last Post pre-game cutscene for ANZAC Round
  • (Suggestion 3) ANZAC Medal and/or Yiooken Award Presentation cutscene similar to Norm Smith Presentation (minus Grand Final stage) at end of ANZAC Day and Sir Nicholls Round (most notably Dreamtime at the 'G)
  • (Suggestion 4) Large Finals Games between rivals (Richmond V Carlton, Essendon V Hawthorn) or those between Top 4 to be played at night rather than early-mid afternoon
  • (Suggestion 5) Packed MCG (85,000+) regardless of team performances on ANZAC Day game between Essendon and Collingwood, and Dreamtime at the 'G between Richmond and Essendon
I understand the timeframe questions are difficult to answer and are subject to change, and I know that Ross has been crucified lately for details and additions to not be included by a certain date he initially said, but a current and loose ETA to let us (the fanbase) know that they are coming somewhat soon and aren't left in the dark, unsure if they are coming at all, would be nice.

These would be absolutely last on the list of concerns right now, sadly.

Positioning 100 percent needs a lot of work both after free kicks/marks and in general play.

I'm not sure if the AI ruck was changing or not given I don't care enough about Port to know what their players look like. So it could just be the player whose ruck doesn't work rather than all of it, I'm not sure but it definitely wasn't working correctly.

I worked that out. You have to hold triangle. If your tapping they will do that. Took me awhile to figure that out but that's not a glitch.

Press and hold triangle at every tackle. It works, they won't get back up.
