Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Ross said originally that he was the only one to refuse being scanned. Then a week later said he'd agreed to be scanned. So who knows.

I have had fun playing a couple of non career games, learning the controls - but the ai, handbalking, tackling and other missing features need to be fixed.

Meant to be patched in the first patch so it's why I think the first patch wasn't uploaded properly

Game is getting absolutely roasted and BigAntStudios is nowhere to be seen to give people an update of where things are at.

Just a little "we understand" post on social media but nothing since.

Hopefully the mods did what everyone wanted and banned all their accounts until they publish exactly what's wrong with the game and what features it's supposed to have on twitter to stop their childish shitposting which if they were not the developers of AFL games would of had them banned years ago, but instead they get special treatment.

They need a social media/communications manager - when the game was delayed the should have formed a communications strategy and also planned information drops and communication.

They then needed to post an update on the patch and also a roadmap on future content.

Communication is all anyone wants.

I haven't played the game yet (still downloading) but what is this talk about a major stuff up? Can anyone break down for me what has happened?

Unfortunately I'm not surprised but I'd like to know what to expect when I jump into the game later today.

General rule of thumb - if the developers refuse to release proper gameplay footage/trailer then expect it to be a stinking pos.

GTA Trilogy is one who went this route and is now known as one of the worst remasters of all time.

The game that's currently being played was absolutely not what was meant to be what was launched.

Large chunks of files got corrupt and put out what we see currently which is not what was planned.

Steam patch coming soon today. Ps not far behind.

Stats are meant to be in, better AI defending/ tackling etc.

A whole raft of things.

They will keep putting out patches to piece it back together.

We weren't even told what features were in the game. Why his wasn't setting off alarms for everyone I have no idea.

What do you expect them to do? Give you minute by minute updates? Get a grip.

They've acknowledged the issues.
They've stated they are working on a fix.

What else do you want from them?

To say what the problem is. Is it that this version is missing stats, tactics, other leagues, or that the AI doesn't miss shots for goal enough is he only problem? Listing features before release would of eliminated the need for specifics about this patch.

Can’t handball
Can run the full field without the AI attempting to tackle you
All difficulties are the same
Ruck is broken
Players stop for no reason
Can’t switch players sometimes
When you get the ball out of a contested situation, your player basically freezes
Game crashes
Interchange doesn’t work plus there’s no auto interchange
No stats
No tactics

There’s probably more I’ve missed but this is just off the top of my head

Holding off buying it myself but consensus seems to be:

Shit AI that gets confused and either runs in the wrong direction or stands still.

Poor handball controls

Missing game modes delayed til later

Missing features like stats in the end of quarters
