STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I haven't played the game yet (still downloading) but what is this talk about a major stuff up? Can anyone break down for me what has happened?

Unfortunately I'm not surprised but I'd like to know what to expect when I jump into the game later today.

Either the patch was ****ed or the wrong patch was uploaded. So when you download and play the game, it is a build worse than the one the streamers got last week

Hi. Does anyone know how to use created players in any game mode. Want to use In management career. I see him in custom roster but the custom roster is never in any mode I choose. Almost like they forgot the option to choose custom team. Certainly hope not. Thanks in advance

The game that's currently being played was absolutely not what was meant to be what was launched.

Large chunks of files got corrupt and put out what we see currently which is not what was planned.

Steam patch coming soon today. Ps not far behind.

Stats are meant to be in, better AI defending/ tackling etc.

A whole raft of things.

They will keep putting out patches to piece it back together.

Issues I've found in first PC play with an Xbox controller

handballs don't work
I couldn't lay a single tackle
AI astronomically dumb
players feel like they're running in sand, no intuition with my controller
invisible created players
some player models are bald
no stat screens
glitching benches
broken interchange

If that were the case thought wouldn't it be as easy as just releasing the correct patch? I don't know I'm not a game developer.

Hopefully the mods did what everyone wanted and banned all their accounts until they publish exactly what's wrong with the game and what features it's supposed to have on twitter to stop their childish shitposting which if they were not the developers of AFL games would of had them banned years ago, but instead they get special treatment.

Pretty sure you were the only one saying this. I’d rather they weren’t banned so they can come here and give us an update. Clearly they’ve got their hands pretty full atm…

Can run the full field without the AI attempting to tackle you
All difficulties are the same
Ruck is broken
Players stop for no reason
Can’t switch players sometimes
When you get the ball out of a contested situation, your player basically freezes
Game crashes
Interchange doesn’t work plus there’s no auto interchange
No stats
No tactics

There’s probably more I’ve missed but this is just off the top of my head

There’s some glimpses of hope!

The slowed down view does make it crystal clear that the transition between animations is the reason players seem to teleport for tackles. I don't know anything about game design, but my very uneducated read on it is that it tries to force the animation when there's not enough space for the full animation, so they have to speed it up. Dunno if any of this is feasible but seems like you'd need to make any tackle not timed appropriately (and thus any tackle that only gets mid-way through the animation) miss.

I have had fun playing a couple of non career games, learning the controls - but the ai, handbalking, tackling and other missing features need to be fixed.

Absolutely. No idea how to handball correctly. Sure it's a bug. Tackling is definitely off

Just had a look and can’t find it. I saw in Twistie3 video that certain state league players from the WAFL were available in the mid season draft. I’m assuming that’s all there is to it and they haven’t actually created the leagues to be used in quick play.

Benefits of working from home this afternoon is I can install both while I’m working and kick into gear immediately after work, hopefully the patch is out by then being on Perth time and all.

My opinion here guys I think the game seems like they have the right idea with gameplay I do think this has been a shitshow for the last 2 weeks I’m hoping they fix it because it is way too easy I’m disappointed but also I’m not surprised if you’re thinking of getting this game maybe wait a couple weeks and keep playing afl evo because I can promise you will be disappointed till they change the patch
