I definitely recall them saying champion data won’t allow the changes. If not those words exactly very close to. It was a long way back though in the other thread.

I remember this - "we need to stick with Champion Data". Someone a bit more sleuthy could probably dig around that day / time and see if there is further mention

I just don’t understand why we can’t have full customisation for all offline modes, Champion Data or not.

I'm not privy to the licencing discussions between the AFL, Big Ant and Champion Data, but I assume there is something in there about not being able to edit the AFL's intellectual property perhaps. It is different from previous titles, but I could understand someone putting something like that into a licencing agreement... perhaps

So I've been slaving away in Management Mode as my Mighty Crows and playing on the hardest difficulty on 3.5min quarters just to see if I can immerse myself into the frustration of what is like being a Crows supporter :(
Needless to say, the start of the season did not disappoint as I lost the first 5 games of the year (game 1 was an absolute pantsing of over 15 goals by the hands of GWS) and I thought to myself... "Wow, is this a true indication of how bad I actually am?"

But being the sadistic prick that I am, I persisted and have slowly over the rounds, managed to string a few wins together and coming into round 19 it has seen me move from last on the ladder after 5 rounds with a percentage of about 30, right up to knocking on the door of the 8 with a percentage of around 105!

One thing I did notice is that the goal kicking is my achilles heel as I was producing scores of 2.16 & 3.13 on the regular. For the life of me, I just could not figure the damn thing out. Tex kicking from 40 out dead in front would be skewing it worse than my drives on the golf course and players would be running into an open goal only to hit the post from 4m out.

But my point is, is that this game is by far the best AFL game we have had to date. It has bugs... oh boy it has bugs which frustrate the hell out of me, but it feels like it really grabs my attention and is not a game that you play for 5 mins and put down, but more of a game which you need to invest time into to learn the ropes and develop your skills.
As I mentioned, goal kicking is not my favourite, but by using the belief that "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result", I've learnt to tweak my gameplay which has helped me win the odd game here or there and has actually made the game extremely enjoyable!

So fingers crossed I can sneak into the bottom half of the 8 and cause some headaches in September, but my advice for all of you is to be persistent and resilient folks. Just like football in the real world... it can really suck (especially being a Crows supporter) and it can also be the best damn thing to ever happen to you.
Keep putting the suggestions forward to the peeps at BigAntStudios and lets make this game one that will stand the test of time for the sport that we all love.

Was bored at work yesterday and not playing the game because I'm waiting for the patches, so I wrote down the 2024 fixture I got as Hawthorn to see how it looked. They actually did a pretty good job with the fixturing:

  • Easter Monday clash was there (and not at Marvel yay!)
  • Thursday - Sunday timeslots, no 1pm on a Wednesday game like Evo 2 (a bit unrealistic to give Hawthorn too many primetime games but I was just off a flag so makes sense)
  • Only 4 games scheduled at uTas and most at the MCG, looks like an actual Hawthorn fixture
  • Did have a few teams very soon after each other (eg. Freo in Round 1 and 7, North in Round 16 and 19)
  • I got an easy fixture in terms of playing twice considering I came off a flag, but the AFL don't even get this part right

This is the one thing that Big Ant have nailed in management mode. No complaints regarding fixturing, accurate time slots, blockbuster games, pre-season venues, accurate division of home stadiums for teams like North, Hawks, Essendon and Carlton. If only BigAntStudios put as much effort into the rest of management mode as they did into creating realistic fixtures.

I could be wrong but I think having the manual bounce is pretty much a staple of afl games in general. But you do make a point, however manual bouncing is probs something that can be easily added and coded into the game.

Not sure how easy editing stats in management mode would be to implement, considering the stats are already tied directly to the champion data stats and it appears everything else in manage mode flows and is directly impacted from those CD stats. Could be a pain to add and code in the ability to edit stats, atleast in the in short term. Unless there is a real big push for being able to edit players in management mode or it’s becomes a big issue for majority of people I don’t think it’s going to be fixed in the short term.

Big ant has given reasons why it’s not available in the game so I think it’s something people are just gonna have to let go for the time being and let them focus on the bigger issues with the game.
I'm just thinking now, if Champion Data is so strongly linked to the contracts and everything else in management mode, is this why we don't have in season training? Like will us training/developing players to be a higher overall potentially not work, as technically it's the same as editing stats AND if that's the case, does that mean we will never get player development? If only we knew what was planned to be in management mode.

it's painful, I miss the free flowing nature of the game. As a result of the ball up, tackle, ball up, tackle style - goals are harder to come by. For me it's rare to score more than 3 goals in a quarter now. But as a plus side to that it's a lot simpler to keep the AI scoreless regardless of difficulty.

I've been able to side step/evade some AI confrontations by sheer fluke with the controller and going diagonally.
Yeah it's crazy, I'm getting like 80+ contested possessions in a match, but easily half or less than that in actual disposals.

Its almost like this forum needs a disclaimer under each person's profile so that we can clarify, or put in perspective, what their own personal set up is.
What platform are you playing on?
What skill level are you playing?
What quarter length are you using?
Which team are you using?
Saying that you are only scoring 3 goals a quarter, or you have this issue with the game, could mean something completely different to everyone, depending on their own set up. (No offense to those who made the comments in the examples I used.....its different for everyone!)

In management mode, it would make no sense for player ratings to be updated to reflect real life throughout. Surely when you start a management mode, the player ratings are locked in as of the latest CD update, and would only change according to however they play in your management career?

Has anyone played long enough into management mode to see if there is any progression at all? I know there's a "potential" field in the draft when drafting new players; and in season 2 when I'm trying to sign some of my young players to long term contracts, they reply with something like "I deserve money because I'll be hitting the peak of my potential by then" . I'm just not far enough in to actually observe anything

More to the point, I get that they say we can create copies of the teams and edit those or whatever and that’s fine. But I’d like to be able to use said teams in management mode, or any teams I want to really.

Once they fix the tactics update, I'd be fine if they never updated the game again unless it was necessary. I'm having fun with it right now as it is, that's all that matters to me.
Geez, I wish I could have said the same. So many glaring issues especially online not to the point where it's unplayable but certainly to the point where it's an absolute chore to play and not enjoyable at all.

Because people have requested it

I assume he means CD requested it ?
If so that's a disgrace from CD. Insecure company. Like being able to change stats in career mode would have any damage to their brand. If anything this just hurts their brand. They can have their stats for online modes and ultimate team. Why can't they just have that. Career mode is meant to be something we can customize.

Imagaine that a career mode with 0 development of players. Which is literally the point of career mode hahahah

It’s kinda weird though they have gone to the effort of giving every player “potential” ratings as well? For what reason tho lol

One of the most annoying things still in the game is when you take a mark and try to kick it to a team mate and get tackled and pinged for incorrect disposal but didn't play on and the AI player came off the mark.

Also, how come the opposition AI can drop the ball when tackled and it's play on?

Does anyone else on PS4 not get the vibration when it's time to mark? Mine doesn't and I have vibration set to on.

These are just two of the many, many questions that remain unanswered and unfixed since release.

It's so frustrating that so many of the absolute basics are bugged and go untouched a month later.

If I get a chance later today I’m going to put one of my draftees in the team for a season and simulate it and then see if their overall changes.

I’ve done 2 seasons fully simulated of draftees. No ratings changed at all but for some reason some of them went from 70 overall to like 25 without being injured.

he is saying: because people requested it, they are investigating if they can make it so people can copy an existing team as a custom team and being able to edit that team
