The launch was the state of the game, after a month and the patch content that much is obvious. It is what it is at this stage, I'm still waiting on Xbox news..
Pretty funny people still believe that "the wrong version of the game got uploaded".

But it's a funny story anyway. "Guys, I swear we're not bad at developing video games; we're just really, really bad at releasing them. Is that better?"

I'm hoping so :worried:
We're dealing with the patches to understand what is "real".

We had reports of issues with the Steam patch, rolled back the morning after release, that we're trying to substantiate prior to releasing on Consoles.

I find it funny that people (who aren’t the developers or work at big ant), without actual proof choose to believe Big Ant was lying to us the whole time with regards to the whole launch situation, specially when those like michaels, twistie3 and Caden McDonald who played the game pre launch said what they played was way way better and definitely more complete than what we got at launch.

Can someone please explain to me how the game pre launch looked actually half enjoyable, the streamers that got to play the game said as much and Michaels himself has said numerous times that game was ok and much better pre launch.
Question: How can any of you who have been on here since prior to launch see those videos and then go, we’ve been lied too the game clearly was no where near ready and the launch proves it and the patches prove it?
Arguably was the “gameplay” perfect clearly not I’d say “gameplay” was probs 80-90% perfect and ok for launch, then clearly something happened at launch the stuffed up the game.
Now if you choose to believe the game was nowhere near ready and the patches are proof of that then fine but I ask you where is the proof of that? Where is your evidence from working at big ant and the knowledge of what happen in development pre release and then at launch?
Everyone screams for evidence for when Ross says things but where’s the evidence from everyone else, the proof (the actual truth) from those who want to call out Big Ant and accuse them of lying?.

Unless I know what happen I ain’t gonna do that, that’s just wrong. I don’t work at Big Ant or know the actual truth.

By all means believe what you want but unless you work for big Ant, all your talking about is conspiracies.

Yeah, Considering the state of the game. I think you'll be waiting until September.... Of 2024.... If you're lucky... For it to come out on Xbox...

Honestly, I'll be surprised if it comes out anything soon. This game is nowhere close to being ready for an Xbox launch.

I don't think that xbox will be released for a long time, until microsoft is happy that the game is in a good enough condition, and then when it is released it could break all over again

This may sound silly, but what does this actually mean?? :)

Glad you could roll back the steam patch, are you hoping for at least a console patch tonight/overnight??

We haven't experienced the same issues as those that were being reported in that patch for the few hours it was live, but are cautious about releasing on Console as we cannot undo the patch.

Likelihood is we will release to Steam first.

First crash in over 2 weeks and first since upgrading to PS5.
Hit the goal post, called boundary throw in and crash.
Sent bug report!

Other than that I’ve had a great time on it this arvo
Damn, really thought we had the hit-the-post bugs fixed.

Appreciate you reporting it.

So many thick people on here i feel sorry for BigAntStudios Keep up the good work you and the team
Hey man, I’m on your side with the positive views and all that but is there any need to call people thick?
I just don’t think it’s necessary mate.
Support BigAnt for sure but no matter what side you’re on we don’t need that stuff.
Disagree with opinions respectfully but don’t resort to that.

Meaning no PS5 patch until Saturday morning at the earliest ? 1 week after it’s last patch.
Possibly even Tuesday morning…

Why can’t PS5 at least get the tactics patch that Steam got on Monday lmao

My guess and it is exactly that (a guess) is maybe when including the 40MB patch the next day that PS5 were meant to get, maybe they got mixed together and the whole thing got messed up?
Could definitely be wrong but that’s my guess

Yeah probably the most likely scenario otherwise it just wouldn’t make sense to not give us Mondays patch

At this point I’m personally happy with where the PS5 version is from a gameplay perspective before the tactics come in so I’m happy to wait until it’s all fixed before we get another patch and avoid going backwards like everyone else seemingly did.

Given there was streamers pre launch with a significantly more complete build that we saw, this is just not true.
There are different stages of a games development yeah. What those content creators played could simply have been something resembling an open/closed beta or RC build where many things were removed or unavailable in play testing so there were less things that could go wrong.

Move on to the supposed stable build of the game and you start adding other features (ironic), modes etc. back in and that’s where you can break things.

As someone with zero experience in the software and gaming development industry, this definitely sounds like it could be possible and you could definitely be right that this is what has happened.
I’ll continue to take what BigAnt say happened as the truth and it’s likely we’ll never know exactly what did happen.
But yeah definitely not doubting what you’re saying could also be the case, it certainly sounds possible.

I think it's the naïve hope that this game will be in proper working condition in a reasonable span of time after buying it from launch because thinking that AFL Evo 2 might be the best AFL game in terms of features we've got and will get for a good long while is a depressing thought.

Honestly, I don't really care what the true story is at the moment. We'll find out the truth eventually from someone who was working on it. The game is a bad shape, People don't like it and want it fixed. That's just how it is right now. The question is when and how long will it take to fix because every passing day seems to make it seem like we're further and further away from it reaching a stage where the game is good.

The longer it takes and the more stumbles that happen trying to patch this game. The more people are gonna get angry, frustrated or just tired of waiting. I put myself in the 3rd category.

Knowing how Game Development works.... That's quite plausible.

You might be on to something here.

Cause it doesn't suit their narrative!

Based on the footage Caden, Twistie and I posted it was pretty clear what we played was better than what launched.

So it debunks that narrative instantly.

Doesn't make how it launched right or better, cause it wasn't.

But there is irrefutable evidence from 3 different people that a better version of the game existed.

Not to mention that its laughable that some still honestly believe BA and the AFL knowingly launched the game in a worse state than a submission build.

Anyone who thinks that, just say it out loud to yourself so you can realise how daft that sounds.

The unsolved mysteries of... Unsolved Mysteries!!

I'm likening it to a game of Jenga, pull out the wrong piece and the whole thing collapses!

When a 30+ year old game is leaps and bounds (hi Paul Kelly) is still king of the mountain questions need to be asked.

AFL 23 is in danger of being the next ET / Atari or Superman 64 on N64!!!
