I'm hanging out for one more patch. If still no good it's refund time. By then it'll be august before the next one, and at that stage I'm happy refunding as wouldn't play over summer anyway. If its fixed next year great, I'll buy. If not, disappointing but not surorising

It doesn't surprise me that questions about management mode etc are being ignored on the new forum the same way they were ignored here.

I know I posted about it last night but I watched a guy play a few games last night. He was losing his mind at being tackled and getting "holding the ball" when he barely moved from the spot he picked the ball up.

But after a slow start and many more frees against, he was able to turn a 20 point deficit to a 30 point win. He was also playing on Hard.

We can be done with the posting about things that happened in the thread previously now, thanks. As per the pinned post the thread is devoted to discussion about the game, as with all other threads on the board.

We are pretty keen to bleach the last 20k posts from our brains and I'm surprised you're all not, too.

No way the pre launch thread and this glorious one will be contending for thread/topic of the year at the Bigfooty Awards!!!

I’d just like to jump in (OT) and thank the Mods etc. for seemingly (or maybe it’s just easier to turn a blind eye) allowing more negative posts towards the game and it’s development.

I’m not sure if it’s simply a coincidence since Mr CEO has left the building or it was his constant whining to the Mods that resulted in a lot of deleted posts, thread holidays for people (Meeeeeee) etc.

At least we can now speak a bit more freely and honestly, while still staying respectful and constructive but it felt that was much harder to do before that awesome BA (with direct access to the Devs) forum kicked off.

It’s a shame that over 2mths in negativity is still the focus on conversation.

Agreed.

I've had more laughs in these threads than I have in the West Coast Premiers 2023 one*

* Had such a thread existed

The presence or absence of certain posters has nothing to do with how the negative posts have been moderated. We have always been consistent that positive feedback and criticism are equally welcomed here. What has been deleted are posts on both sides that go too far or get personal, which is still the case and are still being removed and dealt with.

... also this thread stopped sending me alerts for like a week and I forgot it existed (it was bliss thanks for asking) so we were one man down in moderating it

Maybe it’s just placebo because it certainly feels like overly critical (but not personal attacks) are let go a bit more or it could just be the fact that the negative posts are now far outweighing the positive few.

From my view this game could pretty much be called officially dead, no updates to the game, nothing to look forward to from the developers, the only time i ever even hear about the game now is when i jump on here every now and then, the botched release has turned into and utter shit show with no information from the developers and people getting bored of the game as there is little to do now

JNT also says not to raise tickets asking for info on management mode cos that's not the right forum for that. Leaving aside the fact that their forum also doesn't appear to be the right forum for that, it does settle that debate.

Always thought it was odd to pester the QA guys with questions that weren't bug reports, which is why I always asked them here. Before their forum was created. Where those questions get deleted.

I don't think there's any studios left that will touch Aussie Rules. Only indie developers. game_chromosome no pressure, mate, keep doing your thing.
Yeah, If we can believe what you know who said. We're down to indie devs only. That's not really a bad thing in my eyes anymore. They'll at least take their time with a game and not hype it up like it's gonna be the best ever Aussie Rules game without even letting us know basic features before launch. They'll probably also be a lot more respectful to people interested in the game too.

For a company that prides themselves on being approachable and wanting to talk to the community. They don't seem like they really want to talk about anything and would prefer that we don't ask questions about anything.

And update on the r/AFL_23 subreddit if you've been keeping track.

They're just about to put up an official "How to get a refund on AFL 23" thread and are finishing up doing Weekly Threads for AFL 23.

Nothing smells like success like having to put up a tread about getting refunds for a game because there have been so many requests on how to do it.

Looks like JNT finally commented on the management mode situation… Aaaand that was just to say that he can’t make any announcements.

Ross obviously knows what he’s doing tho.
Irrefutable industry data and all that

It seems like at this point there really is no use asking any form of direct question because they seem to get the same generic answer. Pro Team was in testing as of 2 weeks ago, still no update. PS5 patch has been in testing for 3 weeks, again no answer. If this is their ‘passion’ project I’d really hate to see if its the same approach for a professional project.

Maybe ask BlackMamba about the odds of that? I think he worked for them for a bit near the end. I don't think the odds are good for a reunion though. Been too long since they finished up...
I just missed out on the AFL license... although I worked as a work-experience kid doing data entry for the last AFL game they did (AFL Premiership 2007).
Good people, who I'm mostly still in touch with... but many have moved out of the industry now, like myself.

While I enjoyed working on the Cricket game, a few of us that joined just after the AFL games were really passionate about footy....and had a million ideas for what we wanted to do to make 'the perfect AFL game'. :)

We have the biggest budget for any Australian sports game ever!
Sweet, so we can make sure handballing works?
Nah
What really sucks, they blew the budget on the "graphics", going out to stadiums to take photos, photogrammetry of players, just a total waste of money, That does nothing for the gameplay and it still looks vastly inferior to triple A titles. That's why people roast the graphics on social media. Imagine had they dumped millions into programming a simulation Aussie Rules title with a few artists who know some art design and can do rotoscoping. You would a very nice artistic aesthetic but with the motion of real players and the game would actually simulate the sport for the first time ever.

Yeah I agree
Their forum is nothing more than a quick ego boost
Still dancing around all the genuine questions that haven’t been answered. Literally no different to when they were on here.
Actually that’s a lie, they’re no longer calling their own customers clowns. But that’s about it

I also knew the QA bit was window dressing and a cop out. Me raving on here got more into the game than me contacting their QA team.

Selective hearing basically. Its like closing a window for us in here, opening it up and still acting like they can’t read whats been asked to them.

Is that budgeting something that would easily balance the other way though?
i.e less on graphics == hire more programmers to write gameplay code.

Or would you more go for
less on graphics == less on overall game (save costs)
Or
less on graphics == more to the same programmers, just more programming time (meaning artists doing less, or working on other titles, programmers working on it for longer == game releasing later)
