Credit where credits due, that’s a completely different team who certainly wouldn’t be better off spending time playing matches to try and replicate all the known reported issues.

Maybe new hair will help with my handball aiming!!

Been thinking about the business model for this game. What are they gonna do, take years to fix it up? And have to start again in some years time when the hardware and tech changes again? With the same crap all over again?

What could've worked better is charge very little for the game (or even free but Big Ant wouldn't do that), don't call it AFL23, just call it AFL (update the rosters each year) and have a season/rewards system like many other games do (COD, Apex Legends, 2K23 etc.)

Season/Rewards system could look like unlocking legend players, e.g. maybe at level 50 you unlock Tony Lockett to use in your custom teams/custom online teams, or unlocking different ball/Guernseys etc. Have a custom team option in online where players can use their rewards.

It could cost like $10 or $20 person season (multiple reward seasons per year) or something and Big Ant would make more money in the long run.

This ensures there's always new content for players to grind towards and Big Ant would always have a cash flow.

Just my thoughts.

Would PlayStation Rapid patches be holding back major improvements to gameplay?

First game I've played since Thursday last week. Really impressed.

  • Marking contests fixed - never felt gibbed in a contest. Probably need smarter AI when outmatched though as had Aliir win every 1 on 1 all game with marks. Would like to see AI spoil instead when they are very likely to lose trying to mark. Seemed to be fine when the AI was in bad position, they'd spoil, but in a 1-1 wrestling match with Aliir they tried to outmark me every time and lost every time, would like to see them adapt whether it's by kicking to someone else, trying to spoil or changing tactics (eg double team).
  • Handballing fixed - always went where I aimed and never glitched. Still seemingly unable to hit very short targets in tight but can live without this if you can control direction properly.
  • Goal kicing for AI much better and for user in set shots, finally difficult and seemed to mostly make sense. Worried it may still be too easy for set shots once I work it out.
  • Goal kicking on the run still felt a little bit too easy, had Butters kick 4.0 on the run of my 5 goals, but maybe that's just because he's a gun. AI missed and I missed 1 of my 2 shots from others.
  • Centre bounce ruck contests still too generic. AI always won due to better ruck, always tapped to De Goey, who always handballed to the wing who kicked it to CHF. Definitely needs fixing.
  • Kick outs still broken with players getting stuck on the mark and AI players able to end up in the goal square.

Honestly I think this is the first time I felt the gameplay was truly fun without any serious asterisks, apart from centre bounce. Hopeful we are getting really close to gameplay being nailed and management mode being fleshed out so there's a reason for me to come back.

I haven't played online yet due to the obvious issues across the board but I am slightly worried the AI may be too easily beaten in online, with things like the run of half back and the tackle lag maybe being exploited but that remains to be seen.

The patch notes does say that it’s still a work in progress. I think the wind doesn’t affect the on the run kicks yet

Only the wind indicator is work in progress, the wind is pushing the ball around.

Actually had fun playing a match for the first time since the game dropped a month ago. Went 14.7 and the goalkicking was noticeably harder, however, it seems like these patches only really ever apply to myself. The AI still kicks about 95% goals on the run, the AI barely ever gets called for incorrect disposal, 90% of spoils goes to the opposition because absolutely no one is manned up. If these 3 issues can be fixed, the game would honestly go from horrendous to terrible and eventually I'm starting to be hopeful that this game would actually be on the level of AFL Evo 1 which was actually a fun game imo.

ai set shots have also missed from what I have seen but ur right that they have been about 90-95% accurate with on the run shots at goal

How hard can it be to find out where tactics are? The game was suppose to drop on the 13th of April. Which means it was ready 2 weeks prior most likely. Even with bugs breaking the game. 2 months later and we still haven’t heard a word on tactics. The communication sucked pre launch and is only slightly better post launch

Hard to see from my screenshot, but it looks like a crosshair approaching a line (and wind indicator shown too).

Also noticed that surrounding teammates have the meter show up too.

Definitely harder to score set shots and goals on the run now.

Enjoyed it!

Online games are still buggy and hard to play.

BigAntStudios the one thing I wasn't sure on is if the wind element takes effect in pre existing saved files, I launched my existing richmond career and didn't notice any wind on the ground. Started a new career and noticed it in the practice game.
