Yeah same, for me it felt like this time last week it was really good, then Thursday when I last played it didnt feel as fluid for whatever reason. I really hope they can get there with ironing out the tackle/handball/kicking bugs because thats all thats really holding it back for me. Its not a bad game by any means, but for me it just feels like there’s a fair lack of player control/responsiveness and hopefully that can be fine tuned.
Agreed

Played some online matches this morning and the only real noticeable difference I found was player controlled movement was a bit more agile. Still some glaring issues, online at least:

- AI movement is still shockingly bad both for and against you which leads to similar plays over-and-over i.e spread the ball to the wings where there’s always 2-3 open players spanned from end-to-end;

- Still vacating the goal square quite often when there’s a kick at goal around 50m out while there’s a mass congregation in centre square (clip attached);

- I’m 100% positive now that the game has already determined if you will take a mark seconds before it actually happens. “It’ll be a goal either way” is a perfect line to show this as it’s said while the balls still in mid-air going to a contested mark (clip attached);

- Quick handballs and kicks can still randomly fly like rockets to different parts of the field.

I do like that when players quit on you, you don’t get booted straight back to the menu now. You go to the match menu where there’s also the addition of a leaderboard point breakdown.

Honestly, I've heard the "It'll be a goal either way" line 100 times and maybe twice it ended up being a goal.
Usually when it's headed to my forward all on his own and a defender teleports to mark it

are we going to be able to do a state league season without having to make it ourselves in custom competition?

Weird. Every single time I hear it, the forward is the one taking the mark.

Are you talking about online also or offline matches?

Is there anything in the pipeline about adding a couple of other body shapes in game.
I've attached a pic of journeyman and local goal kicking legend Jamahl Mckenzie who is currently at Solomontown after stints with half a dozen clubs and a couple of games for Sturt.
Deceptively, he kicks bags and shows great flight of foot. None of the four body types I can see in the PC Player Manager adequately match his physique.
BTW, I ain't fat shaming here, far from it. If anything, I see it as just another form of realism.

I'm not confident...
Yeah neither am I. Did evolution 2 even do it, besides the random "this player performed well in reserves please pick them" email we'd get? Obviously some of the VFL/SANFL teams had a bunch of the rookies listed in their team but there was no link up that I remember

Not gonna lie, getting a rig like that into the game would be great so I can create myself

I can imagine from a programming side of things this is a mess to work through.
You'd have to simulate both AFL and SANFL to get the players going up and back as a mechanism. You'd hate the AI to buy a SANFL premiership by buying all the best rejects from AFL (even if that is what some do). The fact both clubs are (eventually) playable doesn't help either.
Midseason draft is another mess. One which as a Bays fan I wish would disappear. ;)

Awesome must have missed that. Cheers
This is what im referring to fyi

Watching a video of Port Magpies v Sturt from the new patch and Huddo called Port "the Pies"... I don't think anyone has ever called Port the Pies, that's exclusively Collingwood's thing. Port's "shortened" form of Magpies is the Maggies. Looks as though the lineup has a bunch of random top up players in it who are wearing the numbers of AFL listed players which obviously isn't the case IRL. Strangely though there are some AFL listed players like Dylan Wiliiams (in the senior side right now) and Kyle Marshall (yet to debut) which makes me wonder what the criteria for which AFL players are put into the team. I'll have to take a look on my PS5 later tonight. Also the teal banner is a bit of an eyesore for the SANFL side but I appreciate the scorebug being black.

Thankfully the Leggies have nothing to worry about this year

First game today with the new patch (on PS4) and how amazing to have momentum swings, clean passages of play including switches, slowing down the play, winning clutch centre clearances

A couple of bug moments of the handball backwards, and kick out on the full from a kick out (only happened once) .. but winners are grinners 😍

P.S can't wait to try new patch again tonight on PS5 👀

I know there's oodles to focus on probably from now till AFL 25....but BigAntStudios if I can please ask a pie in the sky question:-

Is there anything you can say about the feasibility of one day looking at Havoc style real time physics? As in, no canned animations, players going up in a pack and kind of ragdolling to a landing position, things like that.

Acknowledge the notion might be absurd, but it's probably the holy grail in terms of ultra realistic contests occurring around the ground.

This is why I want it fully editable. Like who would’ve thought Brandon Ellis played Suns vfl this year. Unlikely to happen by Clayton Oliver can return from injury via Casey. Fyfe played WAFL last year. Plenty of scenarios occur. I’d prefer all be named then maybe the game can pick 23 players that are “unavailable” for selection

I don’t see afl stuff being editable unless you duplicate it

This process of looking to improve newly released content is great as long as it is constructive
As much as and possibly more than some, I would love the SANFL to be as realistic as possible. Let us not assume that big ant know about some of the peculiarities. I mean I couldn’t see an option for SANFL rules And where are the red behind posts. Not to mention unveiling the chimney after the grand final

Other than the grand final - if they play Adelaide Oval during the year (assuming they do?) do they have the AFL markings?
No, as someone who regularly watches SANFL games at Norwood oval they do not have AFL branding all over the fields, nor does the broadcasting have AFL branding, and the umpires do not wear AFL logos. It really kills the lack of immersion.

Would really love this to be changed to be in line with proper SANFL games, as even the ones played at Adelaide Oval during finals as previously posted by another user have SANFL branding on the wings.

Disappointing that this wasn’t included but we move

I don’t on pc

I saw a few teleport marks last night (kinda like running to the ball, but missing the jump, but seeing the landing - it was wild!!).

And to reiterate I thought the game was bang on not last weekend but the one before. Every patch since then has improved some aspects, but went backwards in others.

I wonder if they have all the licensing for the SANFL. If BigAnt don’t want to prioritise it, I’ll happily make some adboatds and the like. Then again if it is in the pipeline I’d happily wait
I don’t get to many SANFL games nowadays but I watch on SANFLnow and maintain my Glenelg membership

Where did the data come from? Certainly not CD. Jacob Dawson the best player in the vfl, inside mid averaging 32 touches a game. Put into AFL 23 as an intercept defender?
