I’m confused as to why ps4 has tactics but not 5? How’s people finding tactics? Definitely for me it feels like it has made games have a lot more variety.

AI is no longer doing the standard tap to their follower, handball to wing,kick to half forward, goal. I’m having players run away from their opponents and finding space on their own.

This current patch on ps4 is feeling pretty good to play. I still find it weird how everyone has such a varying opinion/gameplay variations when we are all playing the same patch bar ps5 if I’m correct?
 
On the management side of things:

I’m on season 2 and I’m playing Gold Coast and they’ve got:
Cooper Hamilton (GWS)
Roarke Smith (WB)
Charlie Spargo (Melb)
Alex Neal Bullen (Melb)
Kyle Langford (Ess)

All in their team.
That’s a lot of trading or some questionable delistings for free agency pick ups.

Is that going to be looked at? I think 2 maybe 3 trades per club should be an absolute maximum before it starts getting a bit much.

If you look at the trades tab they are usually quite realistic. The bug is something to do with clubs delisting players that are quite good, then them being picked up in mid season/rookie drafts.

Decided I don't actually care. Was all set to buy the game the day it came out if it was of even reasonable quality. Now decided I'm just not that interested. Playing FIFA is fun enough. Thanks for saving me the $100. Know of several other people who have reached the same conclusion.

The trades are good. I think it’s as you said the delistings. Is there too many trades or is this most likely 4 delistings in those 5 players?

Yeah it’s weird idk. I saw Sam Taylor get picked up in the mid season draft, make the AA team, then delisted and picked up in the rookie draft lol.

Heading into finals footy on my Management career. Started on Easy and have progressed through to Hardest as the season has finished.

Last 2 games of the Premiership season were interesting.

Played to Dogs at Marvel. Literally lost almost every tap. They dominated me on clearances too. Was down 6.2 to 0.1 at QT. Came back like John McClane but ultimately JUST fell short. 11.4 to 10.4.

Next game was up against the Crows at OS. Back and forth game had me 14 points up with about 2 mins to go. Crows went bang bang and pulled it back within a kick. They actually kicked inside 50 and marked, but the siren must have sounded a millisecond before. Snuck home. Only had 1 clearance the whole game.

No wind but kicks are being dragged like crazy. Even 35 metres out are proving difficult. Had Darling hit the post too with about 5 second to go. Bounced back into play, ump called play on, no idea why, score didn't register. Siren went, score registered. Really weird.

Finished up with 20 wins and 3 losses.

QF - West Coast v Port Adelaide, Richmond v Melbourne
EF - Sydney v Bulldogs, Collingwood v Brisbane
 
Playing Port in the QF - Half time, up 7.5 to 5.4. 13-2 clearances to the Power and 15-2 hitouts to Port too. Has something changed with hit outs? Never had this problem before since playing today. Haven't played in about a week or so though. Relying on my backmen taking intercept marks
 
Stupidly good QF finish against Port. Was 30 points up in the third before Port went BANG. They got within 5 but I managed to hold on, even with the disgraceful lack of clearances!!!

Playing Steam on latest patch, around ten games this weekend.

Without ranting thought I would share my experience -

  • I have not kicked a set shot this weekend outside of the goal square (talking scorelines of 2.12)
  • I've seen 30 - 40 meter kicks jack knife backwards at a sharp angle when hitting the ground
  • players I'm controlling - no use of sprint - running over the ball like I had failed to press the 'pick up ball' button
  • players in a contest not attempting to mark - kind of like I had missed the window to make at attempt despite the ball still being in the air
  • some really odd behaviour with sprinting. It works fine on minute and the next the player will walk or freeze, or if they are close to the contest bounce off an invisible wall (only way to describe it)

I'm not one to go on about this stuff - I have great faith in the end product when it arrives - but if there's a patch Tuesday night that 'fixes' all these issues - before another regression late in the week - that is a trend that needs a good hard look imo. It's beginning to feel like we're trapped in a loop.

Yeah I’m kinda split on how to feel about management mode. I imagine the amount of programming required would be a lot to get it to function super realistically. I don’t feel personally it’s that important for the game to be considered good but there’s obviously a lot here that do.

Drafting rookies and progressing them works quite well now though, I’ve had a lot of fun just drafting them and simulating seasons. Using the player search function and seeing what decent under 18 players are going to be available at the draft, then trading for picks accordingly is pretty fun.

I've had similar experiences here, except set shot kicking which I find quite easy.

The no mark attempt has seemed to only occur when my player is out positioned or outsized though, so haven't hated it even though the animation could be better so it feels like it didn't just bug out. Kinda the issue with a bug ridden game that sometimes design decisions can seem like bugs because we're so used to them. If the game was fine and this was happening feel like we may accept it?

Players running over the ball or not tackling or smothering a player especially inside 50 and running past them are my biggest 2 frustrations. I think tackling needs to be way easier/stickier just allow disposals from them most of the time but with a big variance in direction.
 
Played about 6 games last night (ps4) and somehow the set shot kicking has got so much harder. I don’t know if the wind has somehow failed and not shown up in the session I played but man I couldn’t kick a goal if the posts were 1000m wide.

20-30m out barely scraped them in if at all. 50 metres out it was ball meet the boundary line either on the full or falling short. The weird thing is there hasn’t been an update on ps4 for how long? The other day when I played I still missed some but no matter where I aimed I was pulling kicks left right and centre. Painful..

What, no goal after the siren to beat them?
 
One month since launch. What's the state of play? Single match still the only reasonably viable way to play, and the latest version of the game is dependant on which platform you own (if said platform has the game at all)?
I've started a season mode with a custom team (custom team meaning a copied Carlton so I could edit the list line up and shove my custom player in there) and had no noticeable issues, just mainly it's an absolute stoppage fest for me.
 
And Management Mode?
I play management mode and it lacks depth but is better than what it was a few weeks ago.

Can someone explain, how do you sign free agents and delisted players? When offering contracts they accept and the club doesn't contest the contract but you still have to trade for the free agent. Am I missing something?
