An AFL game should include BOTH Menā€™s & Womenā€™s, the womenā€™s game shouldnā€™t be something that gets added in 1 year later or years later in the next iteration. AFLW is part of the AFL, so any developer creating an AFL game needs to have both menā€™s and womenā€™s.

Maybe they could have added in the womenā€™s state leagues after fixing most of the issues but the AFLW is a must have requirement for any AFL game.
It's a completely different league and competition. So no it's not a day 1 requirement. As I've said before, it'd be like Visual Concepts making NBA 2K and adding the WNBA in instead of season mode etc. No they built it out once the game as ready, there's a reason they got to the point of no competition and becoming a casino, everything went into the core game to start with.

AFLW falls under the ā€˜AFLā€™ so if you are making a AFL game it needs to have AFLW when it launches.

AFL Evo & Evo 2 both had the AFLW, so there was not going to a new game that comes out without AFLW being included at launch. Itā€™s simple as that.

Including the AFLW wasnā€™t what cause the game to launch in a bad way. And including the AFLW has not taken away any other modes from the game.

It was actually Pro Team which took away the player career mode.

Why would the big ant servers be hammered from the 10 people downloading the ps patch from the ps servers. At 1130pm on a Monday night?

Do you use console or steam? My PlayStation (like I assume many others) get put on rest mode, so controllers can be charged, downloads/updates can be installed.

Not sure where you got 10 people downloading, but yeah that could be a contributing factor.

Ok so the main gripes people have been complaining about still haven't been fixed? Way to listen Bigant!

Is the bug still there when kicking and the ball gets dropped to kick but then teleports back into players hands and tackled?
I haven't noticed that one yet on this patch. More common is the player gets a kick, or drops it entirely.

I'm happy that it still doesn't get called 'holding the ball' all the time... as in real life, the umpires let those slide a bit, claiming the ball was 'knocked out in the tackle'

Handballs - Better, although still needs work

Movement - Exact same. Turning circles are still horrendous for a sports game

Tackles - Exact same. So often the opposition will just run past you because the game wonā€™t allow you to tackle

Holding the ball - Still seems the exact same to me ? Iā€™ve noticed others saying itā€™s better but I havenā€™t noticed this myself. If anything, it seems slightly worse

Stuck in the mud - Best itā€™s been in a long time. Still happens but nowhere near as regularly

Teleport tackles - Still happens lol

Marking and spoiling seem slightly improved too and there seems to be more congestion around the ball which is better for realism imo too

Overall, good patch but still needs a lot of work.

Issue with this is that even if 50% of users have their consoles on rest mode and they all download at the same time, itā€™s still a very small number in comparison to other titles that donā€™t have this issue.
Not to mention that the update was at 12am so a large majority of those downloads would have been just that, the rest mode ones.
Would not have been a number significant enough to hurt the servers.

Handball chains? šŸ˜… sometimes? Lol
Better šŸ¤£
Still donā€™t have much control in congestion as it seems to either miss the target or not make the distance to a player 1 metre away lol
But around the ground in open play, itā€™s the best itā€™s been.

EDIT: The next step for this is to make sure players are on the run when receiving the handball so that it doesnā€™t break down the play when trying to chain up the field with opposition up your ass

Hopefully now that the PS5 patch is out, another patch is in the works to clean up a lot of the remaining issues.
The bit that confuses me is if Bigant state that PS patches were submitted for testing 4 weeks ago, why all of a sudden that when a steam patch is released the PS patch is released pretty much straight after it. Doesn't make sense to me!

Does it? And even so if they did their games "worked" to what they planned.

It all adds up to the cause because it takes away from limited resourcing. It's nothing to do with hating on womens football at all it's a red flag on priorities. Looking at where the games at, it's hard to argue the order of what to invest manpower in was right.

Thatā€™s a start atleast. Fingers crossed for more improvements

Is it possible the steam patch was ready since as long as the PS patch had been submitted and they held off on releasing it? šŸ¤·šŸ»
The PS patch included the catch up stuff and the new steam updates. They just didnā€™t release the steam update until the PS patch was ready.

The latest Steam patch was fairly small (in terms of what was listed in the release notes).
Could have mostly been features that were isolated and wouldn't affect much (i.e academy features that wouldn't affect the gameplay testing)... and/or some little fixes from the PS testing that were uncovered (which probably mostly fall in the 'stability' category).

People downloading the update from the PS SERVERS could be a contributing factor to the big ant servers failing?

there is exactly 0% chance that any AFL licensed game would be allowed to release without AFLW being in it from the start.

receiving handballs on the run definitely exists, this video below was a slowed down replay so pardon my zooming and moving around, but 3 consecutive handballs to players on the run, 2 of which when being tackled.

Maybe it is a consistency thing with how often it happens? But definitely exists. Maybe more movement from stoppages too.

I brought up putting AFLW into this as a red flag but hey all that got was a plethora of abuse from a bunch of white knights so some of them got what they wanted really. An AFL game missing a load of features on release shipping with an apparently must have feature that 99.5% of them won't ever use.

Xbox says August now on EB so I dunno, I'm thinking I'll never get the chance to buy it anyway.
Absolutely was not a red flag.
Plenty of much bigger, redder flags than AFLW.
A non issue for me.

Yeah itā€™s more of a consistency thing. I didnā€™t mean it doesnā€™t exist, just too often when youā€™re running down the wing and have players supporting the ball carrier, theyā€™ll stop dead in their tracks to receive the handball which is infuriating considering you then have to handball to space instead of continuing to link the play

When your player receives the ball do they still slow down a bit or continue running through smoothly. Pre patch I hit a few on the run with a handball and theyā€™d slowdown and others wouldnt
