I do hope for your sake it’s not one of those 80 minute games you do😂 If it was me, I’d say stuff this, download that patch asap.

Close - 15 minute quarters. Running AI v AI while jumping in at various points of the match. Currently 6 minutes left in the last quarter, Hawthorn down by 7. I just might have to resume control and help them win :p

The game updated on my second pc - 1.4gb in size, will give it a bash on my main pc (well gaming laptop) once my current match is done.

I will literally fall over if they do a patch update and say "eliminated teleport tackling and stuck in mud"

Followed by an up yours bigfooty message lol :p


Adelaide had the chance to ice the game with 60 seconds left............ and they do this


I managed to run it down toward my forward 50, they rebound, I get it back through the wing and launch a kick with just seconds left. Mark the the ball and take the shot after the siren...............

First impression

the updated afl screenwipe/splash screen" is ugly. The blue with AFL logo in the center was clean. The AFL 23 with the background colour (essentially the storefront page logo + background) is not that good, pretty much an eyesore (lasts a split second but still).

Gameplay any different?

Handballs seem more magnetic and go to players more often

Until this

Intended on handballing to the closest player, but the ball tracked to a player further out



They say tackling has improved ? Not so sure about that, yes I'm being awarded more free kicks for tackles. But the tackling animations seem off.

I thought if anything they'd make it less magnetic. More adherence to direction and less magnetic felt like what was needed.

Still stuck in the mud and frozen every time they receive a hand pass. How is that not being fixed?
 
Just seen the latest fixes, and I have a few things they could target for the next update.

Not sure if these have been discussed here but anyways

1. Ability to change player numbers in manager/season modes and in the team creator
2. When the game first dropped, you could play a kick to kick style game, slowly moving the ball up the field by finding open men. No longer possible. AI instantly man up, even their deepest forwards are wearing my deepest backs like a glove
3. Every team feels the same to play against, the AI don’t have unique tactics for each team

Other than these, I’d say the state of the game is pretty good!! It took a while but well done BA!

How’s congestion? Are teams pressing and flooding appropriately or is it still a game of spread out pairs around the field?

Haven’t given todays new patch a go, seeing the news brought me back here.

If you’re asking about how it was like beforehand, then nah, still super in tight and congested. Could only win clean clearances by having a perfect ruck tap to the guy next to the winger and hand balling it behind the mid and onto the run of the winger.

I finally gave away my first high tackle. I Don’t know why those sort of frees don’t show up in the game. Anyway mcdonald lines up Amon with the clothesline and destroys him

I like how the Hawthorn player reacts to being hit high. Hopefully it won’t be long before these incidents are sent straight to the tribunal
