WHEN CAN I PLAY? READ BELOW:
  • PlayStation (Physical): Thursday 4 May
  • PlayStation (Digital): 8:01am AEST Thursday 4 May
  • Steam: Currently 8:01am AEST Thursday 4 May, may be moved to 12:01am AEST
  • Xbox (Digital or Physical): TO BE CONFIRMED, unlikely to be 4 May

Those that pre-ordered PS versions will be able to play on Thursday, disks will have already been mailed by retailers, they will also be available in-store.

Steam will also be available Thursday.

Stating the obvious, we are still having issues with XBox.

Seriously, anyone that looks hard knows there’s issues - why do you think there are so many exclusives for a particular platform that are not marked as exclusive, but are only on that platform.

If I took that road, life would have been a lot easier.

Xbox digital and retail will release at the same time - that is not a decision we get to make.

It applies now and I will no doubt pay a price.

Re: commentary team
Hamish is still there, Daisy didn't make it into the final version of the game.

We added Gary and increased the workload of Harf.

Re: game availability/release dates
I can never give 100% guarantee about anything in the future, but as it stands today, the statement I am prepared to make it that all stock that is at retailers on 4 May will be available for sale.

As to the amount that will be there for sale, and whether it is enough, that is a question I cannot answer.

It will be made digitally available on the various platform holder electronic stores.

Clarifying, the game will not release prior to 4 May 2023.

I am vague as there is one platform that has had sufficient stock at retailers and the other has not, and I cannot name them (contractual reasons).

The game will not be further delayed because of the numbers of units in stock.

Re: Steam listing
I've already put in a request for the screenshots to be replaced with current ones, they'll probably only be there for a day.

As much as the feedback has generally been positive, these are old, meant to be placeholder only and were not meant to go live.

Re: playing lists
All playing lists are accurate for the 2023 season.

Re: content creator footage
This is all prior to day one patch (as some have noted updates like numbers etc are apparent)

Re: Career mode
A head's up on Career mode.

At the AFL 23 Launch night I mentioned the non-team based Individual Career Mode in an interview with Dean (Twistie3). As alluded to at that same event, we were working with the AFL and AFLPA to include as many past legends in the game as possible.

The great news is that we have received approval for far more AFL legends than were previously envisaged, but this has meant that we had to make the tough decision to divert resources away from the Individual Career mode development. The individual Career Mode function will not make it into AFL 23, Career Mode will be entirely team based. I expect this mode to be include in future iterations of the game.

Re: microtransactions
You do not have to make purchases, things can be earned.

Re: general development
So fundamentally flawed, in so many ways, it’s bananas.

We are doing AFL as it’s a passion project, without us doing it there would not be one being made.

So much more upside with making games that are played internationally, let alone one that will not even be played in every state in this country.

So, let me get this straight. Your proposed solution is to stuff around all three groups of customers and potentially lose customers from all of those groups, instead of the single group that is currently unfortunate enough to miss out for a while.

That was BA's solution the first time around which plenty in this thread thought was a splendid idea. 😂

Happy to see PS and PC are at least not suffering due to this. Feel for the Xbox players - I have a Series S myself so was considering getting it for that to play in my office whilst I work.

Hopefully Microsoft see reason in Ross breaking the parity clause seeing as so far this whole muckaround is primarily their fault and don't go whacking a huge fine or potential blacklistings - and props to you for sticking the finger at them and just going for it. They will probably play it the same way all the big companies do when something goes wrong and palm the blame directly onto the outsourced provider. Terrible situation all round - fingers crossed there isn't fines for it or sugar daddy Nacon steps into bat for Ross at least.

It doesnt even take the minimum amount of reading between the lines to have a bit of an idea what has gone on here.
It's honestly astounding how naive people have been in this thread even up until last night I had people berating me for daring to suggest the game wasn't finished in April

If you were releasing a product that was to be used on 3 different devices wouldn't you wait to release it until all 3 were available?
My view is if you delayed this by another few weeks or month whatever it is you still get time to show people the product properly , I doubt they would lose much pre orders , everyone would still be keen.

All this does is gives a select group of users the chance to pick at everything in this game and decide no I am not getting it.

Can you expect people to treat this as a brand new release in a months time when it won't be a new release?

At Eagles home games (derbies excluded) there should be crickets and tumbleweeds when an opposition team scores a goal.

Or boos.

Keen to see what does happen as I haven't seen footage of Eagles home games at Optus yet
(To make sure Dannnnnnnnnn dosent kick me out of the group for this is fully joking and violence should never be condoned but) Ross next time he sees someone from Xbox/Microsoft after this…

My thoughts exactly! #wwf4life

An initial delay, however frustrating, is nearly expected. In this situation, where it's still a single platform holding everything back, despite having another three and a bit weeks to rectify it, it makes sense not to stuff everyone over again.

Guess it's the same as people picking up Hogwarts Legacy on the legacy platforms this month. For most, the game has had it's time, but for a large amount of people, it's a new release to them.

No point punishing 60% or whatever of their customers. Another delay could mean that instead of 20% of their overall preorders cancelling (assuming that comment above about 40% of their preorders being Xbox, and assuming again that half of those people will cancel which is an extreme amount), it could result in 50-60% of their overall pre-orders for all consoles going "nah this is too messy, I'm cancelling".

Edit: I have no idea if that makes sense and today has been too long for me to even bother proof reading now

Alright, PC nerds.

This is my PC specs against the minimum and recommended standards.

Will I end up with choppy graphics off this? I don't know what any of it means.

Seems pretty self-explanatory to me. You pass the minimum requirements, but your graphics can't won't hold up to recommended requirements.

It'll probably look like shite, but might play alright. Some choppiness maybe.

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy. Just be open and honest and you'd have half the drama.

Should we be expecting an official message from BigAnt? Pretty crazy what has happened today but we haven’t had any offical statement come out.
I just worry for all the normies/kids out there with Xbox's that don't even know shit about this. I expect something will come out tomorrow on the official AFL accounts at the very least.
