From division 4 to the swans reserve grade to play ainslie on sunday good luck to David Waters from goulburn swans.
Anybody know what the go with this is,the swans reserves asked goulburn for a young top up player,
Is this to become a regular accurance or what?

he is very new to the game, played a few games in 06 and full season in 07 , 08 , probably only about 35 games in total, ex leaugue player, has so much natural ability in afl and is getting better all the time.
very weird start to season. adfa sitting second and yet they lost to coota, and coota have not won anymore and lost to cooma . goulburn only consistent side so far. yass beat harman just and gungahlin flogged them yet yass beat gungahlin. bring back top 5

I think it is good, it shows that no matter where you are on the ladder any team in this comp can turn up and win on the day.

I also don't think you need a top 5, top 4 is suffice.. If you don't make the top 4 then to bad. Just because your percentage is higher does not mean squat, just means you didn't win the games that counted.

Good news for David waters then :thumbsu: Good luck

Pardon the pun but I think you blokes are selling little Stevie Armstrong a little "short" - I heard he was up to 450 games!! And yes, he definitely played for the Gungahlin Jets for a couple of seasons in the late 90's, maybe early naughties.

If that's true, Southo, about Waters going up to Swans Ressies, that's a huge ask for the kid! I think he kicked 2 goals 8 against the Jetters last week. But well done to him and good luck - sheeeeesh!!

The Growling Ferret would have racked up a fair few games as well wouldn't he?

PS Parko is playing against Bidgee this weekend, I wonder if he break out another highlight reel shirtfront?

You are correct big daddy growling ferret has played a few for the blues infact he plays his 150th game tomorrow v eastlake. To all you eastlake boys a six pack if you open up number 34 tomorrow! I need the practice as a sports trainer and what a great way for the growler to remember game 150 with some blood n scars! as quoted by some hollywood actor "chicks dig scars!"

Thanks lads (and you'll keep Eppa, next time I tape your shoulders I will get armpit or pubic hair)

I've played a few but not as many as Big Daddy M - surely you have hit the double ton for the Jets by now?

Has Parko brought up his 50 at the Jets, as he had played over 50 at the Blues, and a similar number at the Jugs if memory serves me right...

Be a good effort to accidently tape up pubes.. funny to see none the less :thumbsu:

I noticed he played today for Gbn??? boy must have miraculous recovery powers !! Reckon he feels the jump is too great and best to stick to being big fish in small pond

Also Heywood , great to hear AFL being talked about on radio in canberra but this caper of spending 5minutes on AFL , 2 minutes on the Jets gala days and 15 seconds on Div 1 is crap!!

There was a lot of hype around yesterday in goulburn surrounding the waters boy and for me he never lived up to it.
It has to be said that the sydney swans asked goulburn for a young bloke and the goulburn club picked waters, The swans have never seen him play.(although if you beleive the crowd he was selected by Paul roos )

With that in mind why would the club choose him for sundays game then play him on saturday ? goulburn had 4 emergencys named 2 of witch ran the water.
Speaking of which perhaps thats the theory behind the swans looking in the country maybe they are looking for an Adam sandler.

No disrespect to the kid but i will bet pounds to peanuts that he dosent get a kick today .

Lastly well done stevie on the 350th and congrats on the victory, your 14 year old son will always remember his first senior goal now.

We took the field with 16 players, then damo philipa got a shoulder injury but courageously played on, so that may be the main reason for how the scoreline finished

Had a feeling you may have been down on numbers.

Is the lad from Goulburn the bloke with curly hair and wears 1 glove? If so he is nothing special. Good on him for getting a go :thumbsu: but if the club picked him I think they may have made the wrong decision.

I read with great interest the story in the canberra times today, re the jets announcing the decision to enter a div 2 side next season.
I think this is great and wish them every success with the venture .:thumbsu:

well why would they have a celebration for his 350th game on saturday, if it was his 450th ?????

yes longhaul, thats him, not a bad player but not good enough to earn a game with the swans seconds.

Yep. Second those thoughts.

Although the article was slightly confusing. Is the 2nd grade side going to be in addition to the two current sides or in place of one of them?

If the Jets do enter the Div2 comp next year they will be in for a rude shock(unfit, fat &old):thumbsdown:I watched them get smashed by 12goals today, not good.

Goulburn City Swans 20/17/137 Yass roo,s 1/2/8

Hardly a surprising scoreline. I think Goulburn would've won comfortably even if they were facing the best 22 Yass could put on the field either this or last season!
They'll certainly be the team to beat in Div 4 this year (and at this stage I can't see anyone getting near them to be honest).

How many did he have to kick to have lived up to your expectations? Or are you saying any mug could've bagged a lazy six against the Roos yesterday? But hang on a minute - I thought you said that Yass were going to beat Goulburn???

True shanfoss i did tip yass, and while im hear i have to say it was the most upsetting game of footy i have ever witnessed.
With regard to Waters yes he kicked 6 however he never took a contested mark infact he hardly left the goal square most of his goals came from handballs over the top of a very tired back 6 and late in the game.Perhaps it was the fact that he was to play yesterday that led to him not wanting to be invovled in any contest.
As far as goulburn winning the comp with ease why would you sell your own side short, the uni side that beat yass the week before is better than the swans outfit .
Yesterday at ainslie Waters got 1 kick 1 handball for 1 behind while his direct opponant ran of the backline numerous times to set up attacking raids. The speed of the game was way to much for him however good luck to him what a thrill it must have been for a kid from the bush.
The shaved head and rat tail was a nice touch :D i think it even frightend crouch :p.
Yass will bounce back and will be there at the pointy end .

Maybe you are right but this is the first step. All late last year after winning three on the trot people on this forum bagged the jets for not taking the step up, now they do you sit here and say that they will get thumped.

Cant you just realise that this is good for footy in Canberra? A club takes its time to develop its juniors, waits until it will have a future with Juniors being able to play for one club right through instead of being a flash in the pan and dropping out of the high grades after a couple of years.

Maybe some of the posters who said last year to step up will consider having a crack themselves at playing in a higher grade.

Will be interesting to see if any players from the one team clubs will consider having a run with the jets get a taste of footy at a higher level without having to join one of the so called big 4 clubs in this town:confused:
