I think there may be some upsets next season.
If Belco can hold on at the pointy end of the season then I think they will take it out.. Jets will give them a good run, rumour has it they have recruited well for Div 3.

Div 3.
Belconnen
Gungahlin
Harman
Murumbidgee

Div 4.
I think the Jets will take a lot from the GF and the whole of Div 4 will take a lot from the form of Yass this season. Will this have any impact? Will Yass have a GF hang over?

Gungahlin
Yass
Belco
ANU

Going to be a cracker or a season anyway..

Is it just me being computer-illiterate, but is anyone else having trouble trying to open the Div 3 & 4 draw?
Div 1 & 2 and the Under 18 draws are all in nice, neat .pdf format, but the Div 3 & 4 draw is just a bunch of .xlms stuff in a WINzip file...
:(

I thought Nathan Thompson was taking some time off footy to be with his family! And surely he'd go and play for his old club, Kyneton, before contemplating a move to Yass!!! :D

Oh, and nice to hear that Yass might finally be getting some change rooms.
Will be nice to be able to go for a p!ss and not walk in on the umpires getting changed!!!
DJ Ando has informed me that thommo is indeed playing for yass this season after being told of the incentive of being the first to be able to you the new dunnies at oconnor park. It was an offer he couldn't refuse:D

The new draw is F&^king me over too champ dont know wats going on there

I think yass and goulburn will struggle purely because of the draw structure, infact all the one team clubs will certainly be affected by the draw.
That is of course if ainslie and tuggeranong are the equivalent of last years sides.

They've fixed the link to the draw on Sportingpulse.
Nice feature marking the "Both Div 3 & 4 at home" and "Double Header" fixtures.
Haven't had a detailed look yet, but had a quick look at the Div 4 to see who plays who twice during the season and thought it a bit odd that Yass and Belconnen play twice in the space of three weeks, ADFA play Cootamundra twice in the first 5 rounds...
Anyone know if this is the confirmed draw or is it still in draft format?

Thats it shanefoss the only thing left now is ground availability for some off the fixtures,it may well be that some games will be played at rmc oval ,provided the powers to be allow it.

got to feel sorry for those 2 sides last year. Tuggeranong were just struggling for numbers each week, and Ainslie had about 6 good players who couldve played 2's but the rest of them had 2 left feet and no idea, so the good players were relied on to do everything each week and didnt really stand a chance. hopefully they're both more competetive next year.

From a BMFC point of view, I think that the CD draw is fantastic. Congrats to those at AFL Canberra who were involved, or took the blinkers off long enough to reveal a pretty well balanced draw:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Of the 18 rounds, it looks like BMFC will play 7 home games together, and at another 5 games we will be at the same away venue (ie BMFC v Jets at KZO, Bidgee at Bidgee on the same weekend). This leaves only 6 rounds where we do not play together, and 2 of those are byes for 4s. the other four rounds involve the 4s playing teams out of town, ie Cooma, Yass.
This set up appears similar for other two team clubs, any feedback guys?

I think that this is important for the two team clubs to have this configuration, it is much easier to have both teams at the same venue on the same day. It stretches resources from player and trainer numbers to waterbottles when both teams play at different grounds. It is not ideal that the 4s play Yass twice in a few weeks, but the overall picture means we get more games together. I know BMFC have been asking for this from the league for years, so to see it come to fruition is excellent.

What are the views of one team clubs??

Cant wait for the night game BMFC v Woden at Greenway (round 4 I think??) It is on the Friday night before the ANZAC long weekend. Looking forward to a few beers after that one :thumbsu:

I will reserve my predictions for the moment, but it looks like it will be another fantastic season. In the 3s, there were about 7 teams that had the ability to play finals, lets hope that Ainslie and Tuggers improve this year to make an all round solid comp and hopefully the most competitive seasons yet!:D:D The 4s standard has definitely improved, and with Yass leading the way this year, hopefully the other clubs rise to the challenge. I also hear that Coota will be stonger again this year - a bonus for the comp.

Lastly, good luck to all the coaches, new and returning for 2009. Any news on ANU coaches yet?

Obviously they're not taking part in 2009, but does anyone know what's happening with RMC? Will they ever play CD's again???

RMC are gone from most local sport after a league team playing under the RMC banner had a couple of blokes beat up the Ref.

Story goes that the RMC boss did not like his organisation getting a bad reputation and removed their sides from the comps.

That and the number of cadets that were unable to complete the physical side of their studies due to injury and unable to complete sport due to absence made it an easy choice to withdraw the teams from all sports.

Friday night footy is a great idea - we did the same thing against Harman last year on the 24th, and its not that cold in April. Potentially its something that could be looked into for a couple of rounds early in the year, which could make it easier for ground allocations. April isn't 'that cold'...

Pity about RMC, in recent times they always had a competitive AFL team.

Looking forward to the night game. April is certainly a better time of year to be having it, compared to July!

Hilly, any news out Bidgee way???

Had a look at the draw loks like theyve done a pretty good job we pretty much got what we asked for, exept for having to play at cooma in the middle of june again:D:p

Just going for Survival GF.

The draw looks pretty good from our view as well. Much better from 2 teams perspective and agree requests have finally been taken up.

AFL Canberra AGM tonight - Gosling replaced as Chair by Brian Quade, Peters replaced by Gerard Rees (partner in law firm) and Matthew Kosi from Canberra Labor Club elected as additional Director.

Brian Quade and Bob Stacey got life membership.

No one from Jets or Yass to accept their premiership pennant flags?? What happened guys?

Boof

I know I did not know about the AGM and have attended in the past before. Perhaps they forgot to send the invite to Districts Clubs?

Whoops!!! It was infact a leauge oversight, Some district clubs were not aware im told yass were certainly not aware that there was a flag to be collected.

Yeah didnt know about that one will it be sent out or will someone need to collect it?
perhaps juicy might be able to deliver it, would love to see him drive into town with flag hanging out the window, we will shout you a few beers at the pub if you are interested juicy ??? would be a lovely gesture and perhaps we could start mending some wounds from this year and start fresh in 09. let me know what you think:)

And maybe you could tell about some more signings for us ando:p

Are you playing next season? If so should be good having R Doliver as coach:thumbsu:Brings back memories of 1998 when we trained and Rick played lawn bowls at the club."Bring back the Gratton"

Backing up again. Doliver will go well, already installing a bit more of a serious approach to footy. Rick has runs on the board, that 98 season, Wildcats would of won the league.....if we had of entered an indoor soccer team.
