AFL Canberra Season 2015

Goulburn Swans took on Eastlake 2nds today down in Canberra. It was a very entertaining match with the Swans only trailing Eastlake by 2 goals at 3 qtr time. In the final quarter I would put it down to superior fitness and skill levels that showed the Demons class to win by almost 5 goals. However Swans showed enough to me that they'll be there at the business end of the season.

I heard the Ainslie V ANU praccy matches scheduled for today got called off yesterday due to the wet weather.

Which is interesting coz there ain't a cloud in the sky today and when i drove passed Ainslie had the sprinklers on.o_O

Anyone know if they'll reschedule? Pretty poor if they dont.

Grass is diseased apparently, first sign of rain on Friday the word came from groundskeeper that the oval was closed. 3rd and 4th grade trial matches unfortunately not particularly high on the pecking order.

Any tips on when we might be able to reschedule it to?

Ah fair enuff.

Thought we might get ta see a good old fashioned quagmire at Ainslie this year now that they don't have to maintain the NEAFLs lofty standards.:p

League would have you reschedule to midway through the year if they were organising it.

Are the lights any good at Ainslie? Midweek scratch match maybe?

any results from the Div 1 games?

Eastlake v Ganmain, Eastlake down by 10 points. watched and Eastlake kicked the last 6 goals of the game before game was called off due to an injury. Demons probably would have ran over them.

Griffith v Gungahlin. Heard Gungahlin were up by 6 goals in the last qtr. Any news on the final result and how strong the teams were

Queanbeyan v Coolamon. Queanbeyan comfortably, any news on the score?

Tuggers went down to Wagga Tigers by 3 points.

Was discussed, but given it was 2 games would be difficult. We're training at Reid this week in any case. Easter next weekend, ANU season starts the weekend after.

Final score: Qbn 31.19.205 defeated Coolamon 6.5.41

We went in with a pretty strong team but were still missing regular First Graders Swan, McCormick, Carroll-Tape, Williams, Page, Lawrence, R Price, Slater, and couple of NEAFL Rookies (Stevens and Vardanega who both played well the week before).

Coolamon were missing eight senior players and brought over quite a young side.

Our Rising Stars comfortably defeated Woden Blues Div 4 side 20.13.133 to 0.4.4.

Woden Blues Div 3 side defeated our Second Grade 13.7.85 to 8.11.59.

That's impressive by Woden. How was the Queanbeyan 2's for numbers. You'd think Woden will be hard to beat again this year with plenty of ins

ANU have 3000 ins, reckon they will be tough to beat in both grades. ADFA seem to have a few out, surely Googong will struggle unless their clearances increase, especially going from 1 team to two.

Hey Nov
Looks like Woden and Anu are the big recruiters think they will both be hard to beat in both grades. I think it will be a toss of the coin to see witch one of these clubs is the next to go up another grade. Good to see the bay have there second side sorted they fielded two sides on the weekend at the Hawk cup although some players did back up . Belconnen preformed well as did the Snowy cats .

2 sides? I only saw 1 sc unless they were playing the 2nd team under a different name?

Few clearances rolling in with Round 1 rolling around for some teams this weekend. Cooma looked to have picked up a few and could give Div 4 a shake. Still hard to go past ANU for me. It'll be interesting to see how Ainslie stack up in the lower grades with no NEAFL side. I'd assume they would of lost a few but surly some would filter down through each grade.
Coota have a couple ins but have lost a few from what I heard. Will see where they are at very early with the first game against Woden. Goulburn seem to have recruited well, not sure of there losses though. How are the Bay and Googong shaping up with 2 sides?

Goodluck to all teams playing this weekend. Should be an interesting year ahead. I hope coota and goulburn do the country teams proud in div 3. Might surprise a few teams

Actually never heard so much shit in my life nov. The only person you are kidding is yourself. Big fish in a little pond ring a bell ?

I'll admit I went searching for this post. Would you consider a 80 and 100 point wins big fish in a little pond? Beat Woden by 80 and then Woden beat the Juggs by 130..

Googong hogs have forfeited to Yass
That's pretty disappointing. They had full teams against Ainslie in the 3's and 4's last week...one of their players did say it took til the night before to get the full teams as some of their players had been making some pretty average excuses. He was clearly frustrated that players weren't committing to play each week after signing up.
