Neither AFC or Gungahlin Lakes have any improvements left to do - the pokie millions may as well go into the 'Community benefit' in the way of a decent footy side :)

We don't need to know what you do for a living....what you do to your boyfriends in your own time doesn't interest me.:D

I have quite a few ties at the magpies nest actually and my 'facts' are just that 'facts'. Maybe you should ask Tony Mahar (COS last year) and Daryl Read (Backs coach) why they are not involving themselves this year? Maybe you don't know quite as much as you think you think you know about your own club !!

Fact ex magpies Tony Mahar and Daryl read have young families and haven’t the time to devote to the “game day box”. In the past magpies have demanded a lot from their off field staff and it seems like it might be a contributing factor these people not wanting to be involved in their positions from last year. However D. Read & T Mahar are the runners for the football club this year so get back in your box you twit.

Hey I'm just reporting what I'm hearing, I was under the impression that was the idea of this forum  Would be a pretty boring site otherwise....

Must admit pretty convenient story don't you think, using the family card....easy way out if you were looking for one....

Hey Beerdawgs....can you tell me how Liam Early is travelling this year? he finished the season strongly last year....

im sure being around a young family is quite a bit more important that sitting in the coaches box OM.

liam has been overseas for a couple of weeks, but been strong as usual. yeah he was in good form last year so hopefully he steps up even further this year.

Dont believe all the bluff re Wildcats getting back in business. Numbers are ordindary at training and will be little chance of fielding 3 teams. Hey Magpies, fancy two teams in the ressies again?? Is there any chance of Wildcats and Tuggers revisiting a marriage of convenience?

And who ever said mergers dont work? Eastlake/Sth Dist/Manuka are a very successful club, as are Belconnen/West Canberra

Funny you say that about a marriage/merge between Wildcats and Tuggers, they have been in negotiation for a couple of weeks.

Not saying that is the case Beerdawgs just making an observation.....

Besides my original point was that Belco's FM is stepping on a few toes down there...which has been confirmed by a number of people....including one of this years Ass. coaches

Have heard that about Tuggers and Wildcats as well...from all reports Wildcats are pushing it hard and Tuggers are keen to try and go alone...One would think though if they're negotiating then its only a matter of time....

Is it true that the Belconnen 'Development Squad' will be changing it's name to the Belconnen Patriots this year in honor of New England's sterling season in which they went undefeated. Well, except for the Grand Final of course.

Wow... You are on fire OM, back again with your 'facts'?

I notice you speak in plural about Belconnen's Assistant Coaches? The 'fact' is that there is only the one, and there is definitely no probs with Knowlesy and the FM. By all reports the FM is doing a great job and I have heard that from a number of players/past and present who are still involved and overall Belco are extremely happy with him.

Maybe, just possibly, you are listening to the wrong people. My experience tells me at every football club there will be people who become disgruntled and disheartened at times and will look for the closest ear to whinge too.

While footy forums are great for everyone having a voice, they can be extremely dangerous when these 'voices' are simply a product of the chinese whispers that occur from the disgruntled.

By all means keep it coming OM, but please try and use the filter of common sense before posting so readily. Your sloppy facts are unfortunately beginning to regularly reflect more upon yourself then your actual intended targets.

I never said that the Ass. Coach I was talking to was the senior assistant...or are you going to tell me that there are no other assistants at Belco, just knowlesy....because I know at least one person who believes they are in an assistant role....

And perhaps you should read peoples posts before you have your knee 'jerk' reactions to them. I never said that the FM wasn't doing good things, in fact I have seen his plans for down at kippax and if he achieves what he is attempting to then they will have a first class facility at their disposal, as I've said twice now...and here it is again the report is that he is stepping on a few toes in the process !!!

I did notice that beerdawgs didn't refute this either......

Who gives a Shite about the Magpies???
At the end of the day; their players will be paid too much money to play good footy - and they will play good footy all year until it comes to playing finals footy! Finals footy can only be won if you have the cattle and the passion and the Magpies have not had enough of the latter for several years now.... in both senior grades!!
Case in point is the senior grade Grand Finalists of 2007; no-one would have believed you if you had stated that Qbn would play Tuggers in the Ressies and the Swannies in the firsts! At any stage throughout the year it was an unbelievable statement given the poor (inconsistent) form of both Qbn grades and the Tuggies reserves. Come finals though and it's not always the cream that rises to the top... A lot can be said about committment and passion to a club.

Hey ABH... I heard that you were only invited to Tigers training because numbers were so low!!! Specialist Coaching... Who are you trying to kid??

OM, you have illustrated my point perfectly, in that you are happy to insinuate problems at Belconnen with your reference to the apparent 'toe-stepping' caused by the new FM, but you yourself have just recognised that he is infact overall proving to be a great benefit to the football club.

Not sure what interests you have outside of football, but my understanding is that any competitive organisation, be that a football club or business (outside of the Public Service) it is impossible to effect great change without unfortunately going against the grain of the 'old' beliefs, systems or expectation at times, no matter how minimal.

I am sure every football club has a number of support staff for their coaching panel, but by playing the 'no-names' drill and referring to Belconnen's assistant coach, you would be an idiot to assume you were referring to anyone else but Brett Knowles.

In regards to BeerDawgs not refuting this claim, BeerDawgs is a footballer and a very strong one at that, that's his focus and good on him for it. I don't think he needs to defend something which is obviously going well.

Doubleoh7? Before this year can you let me know when the last time another Canberra club finished higher than Belconnen? My memory is misty.

Easy answer to that question - 2005. Ainslie finished the home and away season in second position behind the Swans, two games clear of Belco.

If your question refers to the finals then Belco defeated Ainslie in the second semi 10.7 to 8.9 to claim a GF spot. This continued Ainslie unfortunate position of not winning a finals match since 1997.

Thanks Einstein, last time I checked it didn't mean sh*t to finish higher than a team after the regular season. Finals are all that counts.

While you have the history books out, I'd like to see what your thoughts are on the most consistently performing Canberra club over the past 10 years?

Not sure if it has been talked about before, but the way I personally see it is that whoever wins the right to play the Swans in the GF have essentially proved they are the 'premier' local club, which in the 'good old' days would mean a flag.

All jokes aside, I am interested to hear others thoughts on this also...

By my count this would equate to;

5 Belconnen
4 Queanbeyan

then

Daylight.

Before the deadsh*ts who still think it is cool to use Simpson jokes get too carried away (looking at you DoubleOh7), the last 10 grand-finals have been from 98-07 (count them on your fingers if you have to). I'd dare say that the Simpson deadsh*t is either only incredibly young, or incredibly stupid to make a statement that Belconnen have been poor performers over several years.

If you actually had a clue about the club and have been on our website you would have the knowledge that I was and still am involved as a specialist coach and took the role on last year to assist the forwards and backs. Reports from players and senior coaches is that the playing group benefitted from the sessions and are keen to continue the improvement commencing late Feb.

I watched a lot of ABH from behind the goals as a kid and can tell our dumb Simpson-joke friend that ABH would have more talent in his pinky finger than Simpson-joke would have in his entire family tree. Nothing better than watching Kenny Meredith lining up on ABH back in the day and seeing that match-up.

Simpson joke is again really highlighting us his knowledge of the local league.

Cheers for the support. I must say that the last couple of entries from D007 have been quite bemussing.

K.Merrideth, gee their was a good battle. In the early, early days back in 94 he was unfortunate to have an ordinary team in front of him putting little pressure on our midfield. I remember kicking 6-3 the first time we stood each other and he got Belco's best!! but in 99 when we stood each other it was definately fair dinkum. We had one game at Footy Park when I had just come back from a long term injury of which I carried throughout the finals series where me and Kenny just went at each other with fists flying. At one stage he tried to knee me in the head until I threw a hay maker that caught him on the eye....We both copped a game for that one.

We have spoken once or twice since and he is a pretty good bloke. Like chalk and cheese when off the field.

Who would you rate as the best fullback you played on during that time ABH? you would've seen a few...

Watched Ainslie train for a bit last night, apart from Billy Neely + maybe 2 or 3 others it looked like you were watching 4th grade go through their paces, no intensity, skill level was appalling and the drills looked like they were taken straight from the Auskick manual...

Hey lads just a quick question to the Queanbeyan boys is there a bloke called Adrian Pavese on you coaching panel this year just heard it on another site and was wondering if it was true.

Yep, "Pav" was appointed to the Tigers Reserve Grade Coaching position last November. He has big shoes to fill but there is one thing for certain - he has the capacity to fill the former Coaches shirt(s) !!

OK I'll bite.... What's the Simpson joke you talk of plum gargler?
As for ABH having more talent in his little finger... Maybe in Aussie rules but I have lived in the ACT region all my life - as has the majority of my family and with one sister having won medals in World Championships and another sister having played several quality games in her chosen sport for this country I would successfully argue your childish statement. Whilst I didn't start playing the game until well in to my teen years (basketball as a kid) I still managed to play my fair share of ACTAFL games and did manage to play a game against ABH towards the end of my career. ABH had just arrived from Adelaide with the Rocket man, he was wearing tight stone wash jeans and wearing one of the best mullets I have ever seen - rumour has it that ABH was arrested in his first night at Qbn. Full credit to you ABH for being one of the so called "Paid Superstars" to come into this comp. from down south and not take the cash and run after one or two seasons!! That still does not take away from the fact that you retired two years too late and were kicking 4 foot high floaters as your staple kick..

As for you MT; I don't remember anyone ever saying the Magpies were crap; sure they choked a couple of times and their off field organisation has only recently got it's act together but they have had quality football sides for at least the last 6 - 7 years. But... other clubs have had better sides for longer periods with better off field organisations. I know Ainslie don't look it now but they were one of the most successful football clubs in any Regional Australia league both on and off the field. Talk to your old man about how good the contests between Ainslie and Qbn were in the early and mid 90's. You talk about back in the day... try looking back a bit further than just when the Magpies got their shite together dumb A$$!
