So it looks like the club are keen on using 5 picks in the draft then.

Will be interesting to see if we keep 22 or try to move it (up or back).
Are they looking at Having a few training over summer for the last spot?
Eyre is one so they will need an open spot.

Dk. Do know that Phillipou tetsed very well and Tsatas didn’t test that well.
All the best for the upcoming draft, you guys are in good spot to get a real quality player.
Any reason you would not take Jhye Clark who would compliment your midfield well with that hard edge midfielder in the selwood mould.

Philipou looks excellent but would think Clark would be a better fit, any thoughts on this?

Clark apart from Ashcroft would be the safest bet in this draft. Only problem is we have half a dozen sub 6 foot midfielders

Would have no idea. It could be a contingency for if Davey is bid on before 22.

If a bid comes in before 22 we might move out of the pick for a future pick and match it. We then take Munkara and J.Davey, which would be 4 picks total, leaving one spot for an SSP.
In that case we might just look at Eyre or others as well, no idea.

If we use 22 before a Davey bid, then Eyre might just stay on in the event someone gets injured? I dont know if that's allowed though.

Should we be asking Eyre to nominate for the draft or is that too late?

If say a Munkara goes before 40 or Davey is bid before 22 then we grab him with our last pick
If we have a spot we can just sign him, after being delisted.

I think having 5 free spots gives more picks for points, if a Davey bid comes earlier than expected.

If we get a long-term injury in the pre-season, could also open up more spots for Eyre.

He was VFL standard in defence.
The fact he has been delisted comes down to list space and limited time to develop everyone .
He must have something as he is going to train over summer.
Yeah I’m talking about the large chunk of the season when he was in the forward line. Yes he has something im a fan, but my point was if he was doing so well this year they would’ve given him a contract. Bzt got a contract extension for good vfl form and limited afl experience.

I thought if he could make it as a forward he would have been value adding but when it was clear he was going down the defender path it’s like get in the queue. What didn’t help is they play Stewart mid year as a forward where now it’s going to be defence again? Stewart better deliver next year or he is the classic list clogger. I think it’s important to note too that not all good athletes make good footballers either.

No doubt more spots gives access to more points but if we fill them then there is no open spot on the list

Also not sure why someone would train with a club who has no open spots or if thats even allowed?

The Pou looks top notch he’s best qualities seem to be his quick decision making and he will lay a hard tackle when needed. Great aerialist. The question mark for me is I haven’t seen his work too much below his knees. He is like a tall receiver who tackles hard not bad traits but he’s not the full package in my eyes. His height, quick thinking and tackling and his passing skills look sound though.

After the 3 probably set in stone (ash, cad, cheezel) I have the next 4 ward, gin, tsat, poo. I could swap poo for tsat atm. I’m not seeing a lot of love for gin. I would be interested to hear from others what the knock is on him?

Is that right I thought I read that he was penciled in as a back. I prefer him forward as a back anyway. To be honest I just wish we had more options there. It’s like ever since we found out Hurley could not play there (As he ran under the ball to much). We have had a string of potential forwards that became backs. Playing key forward position is not harder than playing key back it’s just in their heads. Hooker actually showed how simple it was if you actually had a bit of self confidence.

Totally disagree that playing key forward isn't harder than playing key back. I remember seeing some of the best key backs ever like McGovern and Rance play forward and they were totally unremarkable. You take average key forwards like Jones and move them back and they look like world beaters. You try to come up with a list of genuinely good key forwards its like 10 players. Do the same for key backs and its like 30 players. Nearly every team has at least 1 good key back if not 2-3.

Hooker was a good key forward but was a great key back.

That being said Stewart does seem to have better instincts for playing up forward as an individual player. He's always looked a bit nervous to me down back. A lot will depend on Jones/Baldwin up forward and Reid/Cox down back as to how much chances he gets at which end.

It’s much harder to be a good key forward than a good key back

It’s just harder in their heads. I don’t believe it’s harder in a physical sense. Totally agree with your 10/30 ratio.

Think he got the squeeze because we have Cox and Reid on top of BZT doing well .
Let’s face it . If there was another list spot he would still be on the list and they are keeping him on over summer.
Would not totally shock if he got drafted by someone else .

Yeh keeping him on but most likely without an open list spot to compete for, it’s not like last year where we could have a competition for the spots.
