Kai Owens is the one I would be looking at for the MSD.

192cm mid forward who plays similar to his brother at St Kilda. Has been thrown into the midfield at VFL level and done well.

Our success at SSP/MSD has come from guys who are still young enough to have ample upside left for the long term (basically 22yo or under) and playing in a decent State league team/system.

Yep, looking likely with our list right now that we may be best to pay him out the last year to not be on the list

I'd do this and hope Forster-Knight seeks out better talls.

Yeh he’s one that a few clubs will be looking at. Unsure of his athletic profile though.

Jack Buller? Mature ager, from WA, KPD, 198cm and 92kg. Could help us plug the backline gap, but could also then become surplus at year's end?

Ben Clarke? Also from WA. 193cm midfielder who's been getting some attention. Could develop into that Setterfield clone we need, although I think he has been played on a wing. Needs to develop the body for it.

I don't know any more about these two but I'm interested.

Bullet from a few reports will more likely stay in WA as Freo and or WCE take him before us

Before we get too excited how many list spots do we want at the end of the season ?
Not contracted for 2024 going by the thread here.
Bryan
Heppell
Hobbs
Jones
Lord
ATM
Parish
Phillips
Redman
Snelling
BZT

Personally I am keeping Bryan , Hobbs, Jones , Parish , Redman , BZT so that is 5 spots on the main list.
Then you are looking at what rookies you keep.
Tex has a 2024 contract. You would expect both Mass and Menzie would be keepers. Munkara stays.
Montgomery has been good. Voss has potential. Baldwin could feel the squeeze if he does not find the next level and McBride is cat B.
Maybe we are not actually in a spot to select anyone unless it is a 6 month deal.

6m isn't too bad.
Snelling and Mass made a good impression pretty quick
Martin within weeks of SSP spot
Might give us food for thought on likes of Voss, Montgomerie, Baldwin come years end

Munkara is Cat B as well I believe.

Do we go to the mid season draft too much ?
It’s usually only available due to a long term injury so yeah I reckon we do, ideally we don’t need to pick at this time of year and have a healthy list
