I’m planning on starting another player thread before Redman was here
Good luck, I reckon they've got the dual curved monitor thread posting setup with with the draft tracker on one side and blank threads ready to be populated the second the pick it announced. Maybe some sort of AFL Bloomberg terminal too.

Setting up for 2025

"We’ve now got two first-rounders next year and two second-rounders, so it’s a great position to be in really. It’s a pretty strong draft again next year as well, so we’re looking forward to that and getting some real strong outcomes.

"It gives us plenty of opportunities to improve our hand next year as well or potentially look at bringing in players through trade and free agency next year, so we’ve got some options."

nuh, next years draft is weaker than this years.. every amateur tom, dick and harry told me it was

If it is worse it will only be because it will not have the same number of good midfielders. What made this year strong is the fact that the numbers of midfielders doing their thing well was very high. There where enough of them to push the KP prospects into the background a bit.

What should make it interesting is there will be no more trading out first round picks for a bundle of late picks to match bids as the points are only allocated through to pick 54.

Draft Value Index changes

The AFL announced this year that from 2025, the DVI and bidding system will look a lot different.

The 20 per cent discount will be reduced to 10 per cent and the new DVI will see points attached to only the first 54 picks (down from the current system of the first 73 picks).

There will be more than 10,000 points shaved off the value of the DVI across the board.

This has been done so clubs have to give up much more in order to match bids. Clubs would not be able to match by stocking up on middle-range draft picks, with the AFL keener for them to have to pay a fairer price for father-son and academy players. It will also make it far more difficult to match multiple bids on players in the same draft.

There will also be a change to the deficit limit for clubs matching bids on father-son and Academy players.

Under the outgoing bidding system, clubs have had a points deficit limit at 1723 points, meaning they could only go that far into deficit to match bids. Any further and they would not be allowed to match a bid on a draftee.

The number was the equivalent of the total points attached to the group of picks assigned to the premiership team each year: No.18, 36, 54 and 72.

But with clubs heading into next year's model, they will have their new points deficit reduced to 1167 points, equal to pick 18 (836 points), 36 (317), 54 (14) and 72 (0) in the new model.

I'll work up a new matching table for you Lore. 10% discount across the board or will it be a locked number from 18 onwards again?

So of the consensus top 25, about 10 are already club aligned.. Mammoth in the grand scheme of things.. Probably haven't seen a draft this impacted by academy and father / sons ever.

Good time to try and stock pile early picks. Seems a midfielder with an early pick is on the cards. Dyson Sharp and Willem Dursma are early candidates.

adding NGAs to the pool makes that much more likely. Now that teams know they have access to NGAs you’d expect more resources to be spent there

So with the points changes, does that inflate the value of third round picks considerably?
The thinking being they are used for points matching while 1st and 2nds are used on your talent?

Will we finally get a big bodied goal kicking mid?
They go top 3-5, so depends on pick location and strength of draft top end

Past 3rds become the new 2nds

You got a pick 3 bid, your gonna want the 5 picks in the 30-34 range

2 quality bid players and your gonna want to be stacking up on early to mid 20 picks

Word is 2025 is ACTUALLY the Super Draft.
Actually it's touted as the "Super-Dooper" draft
