Thank **** this shit is nearly over. It used to be enjoyable but it’s turned into such a media and sponsorship circus in recent years it’s hard to stay engaged
If we had 8 picks like the tigers we would be pumping out 3 pages per hour on here, but we know we are getting Kako so it’s a bit meh.

Bit like it is hard to get excited about Christmas when you become a teenager and your mum takes you down to the surf shop a week out from the 25th and buys you a Quicksilver cap and t-shirt then wraps it up and puts it under the tree 🎁🎄

I'm intrigued what we do; Kako to match, Rosa's first draft in charge, a bit of a mix of picks. It's an interesting one, but not sure it needs to be two days of content.

Can someone explain to me what the expected plan is for us with pick 28? Just listened to Twomey this morning say we will be looking to trade it out before a bid on Kako so it doesn’t get eaten up, what does that look like? Is that - trade it for someone’s F2 and then use that to try and get back in later?
Honestly we should be looking for a future first for those picks, I hope Geelong come calling.

Thinking maybe we will try and trade 28 for a F2 and package it up with Melbs Future first to move up further instead of just Dees future first.

Might be someone we still rate high would not be against bringing in Berry

It was going to be a quicksilver cap and t-shirt, but we're actually just getting the shirt.

We traded the cap for Melbourne's future first.

Sounds like norf are keen on Finn O’Sullivan with pick 2. Strange move imo
I would take him there, there are only 3 players I’d take with a top 3 pick this year and all of them are midfielders. O’Sullivan can atleast play other positions at a high quality until he can move into the midfield full time.

It’s not that, the trade and draft period is naturally an interesting and important part of the football calendar. It’s just being milked for all it’s worth by the AFL and the broader media to wring out as much content as possible which has kind of spoiled it imo. It’s kinda like when the BBL decided more = better and absolutely spammed everyone with games, which led to fatigue and poor attendance.

Shit like preventing trades from going through until the final day so trade radio has some ‘content’ to mix in with the ads, or splitting the draft over two nights and trying to turn it into a televised event; I wish they’d just let it proceed naturally and allow the clubs to work through it their own way.

Most likely split it and get say 40 + F2 it’s a pretty valuable pick

Could also mean trading for multiple picks this year like Brisbane did when they traded 20 for 3 tigers picks worth extra points.

Can rag North all you want but Sheezel, Duursma and FOS rotating mid/forward is an absolutely terrifying prospect.

It’s a best available type of draft with it being so even, if they want a tall then they should look to trade back.
I don’t think they’ll be able to, although I think they should. It’s going to be difficult for them to grab KP players soon with Tassie coming in.

I'm not really into the trade period so can someone explain how Richmond, who recently won 3 flags, have 5 picks inside the top 20 or so, while we, who haven't won a final for 20 years, have 1?

Trading away players with value… to clubs who wanted to overpaid. We instead give guys like parish and McGrath 6 year deals.

We’ve spent enough recent draft capital on tall defenders recently.

I know Trainor is more of a Ridley than a genuine key, but I think they are more pressing areas even at that range.
We need defenders who can intercept and use the ball by foot. Guys who can kick the ball in the back half is definitely a major pressing need

Ridley hasn’t had the best luck with health the past few years and we don’t really have a backup on the list

We have Lav, Hayes and Prior penciled in as our next best defenders. None of them really fill that role all that well.

I’d say it’s one of the 3 roles we’re trying to fill.

At what point would you trade back in and get Hotton eDPS ydc55 ??

Kid looks like he can seriously play from my professional, 3 minute Rookie me draft highlight observations. A bit of Shai Bolton about him

Not saying he is the player we need bu geez, can see why he was hyped as a potential top 3 - 5 pick at the start of the year

I’d part a future first for him, i have him firmly in the 10-20 range. He might not play any senior footy for us next year but once his body is right he will come in and impact pretty quickly.

GWS possibly moving out of 15 or 16 for an F1

Potentially Kako not bid on until then, then we trade an F1 + 28/31 for Pick 15/16 and late points

Cats seem interested to move F1 but is our 28 too late and is it only because of a Dodson or specific player that they want to know is available there? Meaning they take a risk doing the trade so early beforehand

Maybe 28 for Tigers F2 with an F1 for pick 18 agreed post Kako bid

28/31 for Norths F2. They haven been able to split and may well want another pick (After 2 there next is 62)

28 + 65 for Saints F2 and 47. 47 likely eaten by a bid anyway. 28 a good chance to come before a bid

We may also be an option for the suns. 28 + F2 for PIES F1 via Suns

The eagles in/out that was posted but is only getting us back in at 26... which i dont really like the draft range. Although ive fallen in love with Angus Clarke and would be fine with him there if we did that

Richmond get very little to nothing out of bidding on Kako

Saints could atleast improve their backended picks, help getting in before bids or improving their points situation for matches

I think theres a chance Kakos bid really pushes out if it gets past the saints

Still think Cox cant be ruled out in that position, it was his best position as a junior. Zac Reid can also intercept if he gets going as can Hayes

Prior will be one that can play it

Im surprised to see Trainor so late i must admit

28s still a weird range for us. Would likely require an F1 which may be too much

F1 and 31 for F2 and 23/24 may be an option, by trading 31 for F2 seperatly pre Kako and agreeing F1 for 23/24 post Kako

Just think we start having

Mckay, Reid, Cox, Ridley, Prior, Hayes, Trainor, Laverde all 193cm + tall defenders all 28 or severly younger on the list... is starting to get a bit much

You either have to trust 1 of Hayes, Cox, Reid make it or get rid of all of them and overpay for a guy like Whitlock/Trainor

Still think
  • Small Forwards
  • Half Backs
  • Mids
  • Tall Fwd

Has to be the preference for us in the top 20-30 range over tall defender
