Daniel Connors V Craig Bird for a spot on my DT Bench.

Connors didn't play on the weekend. Where was he? Bird played well but his goal boots his stats. I think both will get plenty of game time this year. Bird more game time than Connors potentially.

Thoughts?

Sydney don't have a good record of playing first year players. Which makes me very nervous about selecting Bird. If he played for any other club he'd be my first pick for a bench spot.

Dale is an interesting 1 but theres probably better value in and around his price range

I read somehwere that he might get more run in the midfield this year which IMO would make him a pretty good choice as a FWD who can/will get time in the midfield.

btw....Looks like AFL got a new website overnight.

Don't know about you guys but to me it's ugly; worst than last season.

I've been asking the same question.

Deledio , Brown or Franklin. All the same price.
I would take Brown provided he is fit.Looked to be moving ok on the weekend and does get a fair bit of the ball for someone who plays forward.Franklin will only give you 5-6 good scores for the whole year and his bad games are terrible which is not enough to justify picking him.Deledio i think may be great value if he plays on ball most of the time but i am not sure how he is going to be used this year

Apart from all those previously mentioned, Des H is worth a look. With Haselby down, a midfielders prep and good preseason form he has potential to go from high 70s to 90+ avaerage this season. Goalkicking midfielders are like gold, just look at Scotty T or Chappy from last year.

Also, watch for Valenti @ Melb when (if) he comes off the Rookie list. Good pts in 2 1/2 Qrtrs on the weekend.

Porplyzia has had midfielders prep in altitude chamber but I need 1 more look this weekend to convince me.

Ryan Hargrave will play all season on 3rd/ 4th defender with Williams at CHB and will be sweeper if Gilbee is tagged.

How fit is Sam Butler?

your all turning me on so very much ;););)

whats happened with nicoski? is he injured?

From what I read over on the team boards he was playing on Farmer. Once they saw the match-up Freo put Farmer in the square to negate Nicoski's run off the HBF.

Also reported that Nicoski looked indecisive and his skills were down, but it was his first serious run for a year or so.

If he's asked to play an accountable role down back, his numbers will suffer.

I must admit, when i saw Haze go down, had now know he wont be playing, I took Headland out of my team. No Haze means Dessie will be heavily tagged. Im just not sure how he'll go.

I see it the other way around. Haselby goes down for the season means headland will spend more time in the center and thus earn more points. But each to their own.

Thoughts on this side appreciated

2. How fit is Sam Butler?

1. I don't think the addition of much needed talls will help Ryan at all. I think he may struggle for game time with possibly Griffen and Everitt filling the role you are suggesting.

2. From reports will miss atleast the first few weeks of the season.

Yeah fair point, maybe a couple of players that could benefit are Schammer and also i believe Mundy could push more into midfield, if he does he could be very handy

why the hell would you start hansen in his first year, when he is injured

He played well in the pre-season and played the first two games of the season proper in '07. He must have got injured after that.

We weren't expecting the Roos to have the season they had last year, so (especially with Thompson injured), you could have reasonably expected Hansen to have got some more games last year.

I reckon quite a few coaches got burned (me included) by Hansen in '07.

The reason Des was so good at Brisbane is because he was playing with Voss, Black, Lappin, Aker, Power, etc. So he never really got any close attention from opposition players. When he moved to Freo, he got the first or second tag every week. Now with Hase down he'll get the #1 tag each week. I think he'll struggle with that as he's basically a down-hill skier.

This is about as spot-on a player description as I have seen on Big Footy :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Headland is the AFL's best front runner, but this could be a good thing this season if Freo has a Top 4 year.

Personally, I wouldn't touch him in Fantasy teams
