Back to more important matters. Interesting story on AFL board from todays game.

BOX Hill’s final hit-out provided plenty of good news for the Hawks with the emergence of Zac Dawson as a ruckman the highlight. The club rated Dawson as best afield in Saturday’s VFL practice match at MC Labour Park.
Wow, odd selection. Could see Zac getting more games as a utility type player, could really cement a place in that side with a few good showings.

What are people's though on Josh Drummond?
His price would have been higher if her didn't get injured and hehasn't ben mentioned much on here.
Thoughts?

dawson really should be pushing for a permanent spot in the hawks side this year. He's been there for a fair period of time now and could be his year.

Hey guys just a small question that has been bugging me

T.Cloke or Deledio?

Cloke is only 7 grand more so both are relatively the same as far as price goes.

I am leaning towards Cloke but i dont know much about Deledio so some advice would be nice.

Would it have been mathematically/theoretically possible to have picked one team at the start of last year, named a captain and emergencies and won the comp without any further changes?

Or would that have been impossible even with full hindsight? Meaning you would have had to do some trades and/or change your captain to achieve a winning score.

I understand in practice trading would be required but wondering if it would have been theoretically possible to create a team before round one that could win.

im finding it very tough to pick a solid second forward emergency. Have rioli as one. Tarrant is probably a bit below tippett who is still very overrated however he will play most games. everyone just saw him in gf (go saints!) where he kicked 4 goals. might happen once more this season. he only got 71 in that game anyway. probably will have to have him but wondering if anyone has any better suggestions?

Theoretically yes....

but in theory George Bush could be a genius.....

- some things just don't happen!

I think both will end up with a similar type of average overall. Deledio might not get as many marks as Cloke but should get more possies seeing as he will still be playing as a midfielder from time to time. For mine when prices are that close best thing to do is make the call that you feel is best. If that fails toss a coin.

OK but could you name the players in position groups with their starting prices from last year and what their season scores were?

not asking for much.

I couldnt tell you if you could win without any trades, theoretically, of course, there is no doubt every player has the capacity to score well.

But, due to injury, suspension, drops in form, if you made absolutely no changes to your team you will be receiving a lot of 0's. I think you'll find that injuries will affect 10+ of yours players.

It was possible in 2006. the 2007 prospectus had the team that would have done it. Not sure about last year though.

sorry mate, that would require way to much effort, for example theoretically - you could pick, tippett, hansen, sellar, morton, hartlett etc etc and they could become superstars and average 100, theoretically it is possible but it wouldn't happen.....it is all about taking CALCULATED risks and crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

At the moment, my only remaining concern is Mackie. Hopeful that he will be able to keep his position and reproduce last year's scores, but i'm not 100% convinced. Any ideas for alternatives? So far I've got Cornes, Bowden, Shaw, Mackie, Gilbee, Symes and Proud. I was thinking Milburn instead, but I'm afraid he might start being edged out, whereas Mackie is still building from what i can see.

Any insight would be very much appreciated. Cheers guys.

I like the look of mackie and its reassuring to know he will probably start the year well if wojo isnt down back too.

Id stick with Mackie, Geelong are the highest scoring team and will probably remain that way this year too, this gives you the best opportunity to get points.

I would say no. Because the rookies need to be picked first up if you don't upgrade them they will not play a full season and cost you points.

EG - A decent forward line at the back end of last year had Chapman, JBrown, Volt, Johnno and Pav in it so the original team picked could not compete with this.
