It's a big ask but this is all I want in this update
  • 2018 Lists
  • 2018 Jumpers
  • 2018 Fixtures (and also better fixturing for future career seasons)
  • More State Leagues (with actual jumpers)
  • Different Formats (AFLX, Intl Rules, SANFL, SANFL Fast Footy)
  • Customization where I can change the colour of a jumper
  • The ability to import PNGs as logos (like NBA2K)
  • Change numbers of a player on a team
  • Other stadiums (The ones I want the most are Princes Park, Whitten Oval, Shanghai, Ballarat, Blundstone, Perth, as well as some more State League ones.)
I understand they can't/won't do this unless they have been working on this since the game came out, but I tried to get the right balance between reasonable and optimistic since I know they can't do much for gameplay unless it's in a new game.
EDIT: Colour coded with my opinion on how likely it is to happen
Green: Pretty much a certainty
Orange: Possible, but probably not happening
Red: Won't happen

On the stadiums I'd say there's a pretty big chance they add Optus Stadium.

Asking for shit like AFLX, International Rules and SANFL Fast Footy isn't anywhere near the right balance between reasonable and optimistic.

Yeah but surely it's not too hard? I mean if they were able to remove two players for AFLW then they can remove 8 for Fast Footy and do all the other shit. I just want to play a fresher version in AFL Evolution if I get sick of playing regular rules.

Yeah that's pretty much a certainty. I feel like Shanghai could also be on the cards now that we've seen how seating is arranged there. Ditto Ballarat.

Surely it’s not too hard? You’re asking them to add three completely different sports to the game in a mid-season patch!

I acknowledge that IR and AFLX would be pretty much impossible, surely SANFL/Fast Footy rules wouldn't be too hard? Just change the amount on the field (like they've done for AFLW), add zones and add whatever the out of bounds rule is. Obviously pending whether or not SANFL teams are in the game (probably not) but obviously I don't work at a game dev studio and I don't know how it works so this just from the outside looking in.

Zero chance they add this to the game.

I reckon there is some chance that they add AFLX to the game. Wouldn't be surprised if its even AFL funded to help grow it's popularity (might be looking for easy pick up and play multiplayer matches, just like they're also hoping it's a gateway sport to AFL in real life)

Im pretty sure Ross from Big Ant said a while back that AFL only want instant profit, or to balance the books so to speak. thats why Big Ant got shelved, because they wanted to take their time and build a great game and go upwards, even if it started off taking a financial hit. Considering the AFL is getting all invested in e-sports , it's strange that they don't seem to comprehend the impact a great game can have on the sport. Gee whiz the only reason i ever gathered any interest in Basketball, American Football and even Ice Hockey is because i played their video games.

BigAnt had time to build DB17 and AO Tennis, and messed those up.

Maybe the AFL dumped BigAnt because they knew something we wouldn't recognise.

I'm sure the AFL would love to fund that, but it's almost a complete redesign on the engine i'd assume to get it to work.

If the game wants to have any international appeal it needs to get the window dressing right before gameplay, because international people won't be any the wiser anyway.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out all aspects of the audio are below acceptable though.

Wish list for career mode in 2018 patch
- ability to get drafted in player mode
- ability to get dropped to the VFL on a weekly basis (have to earn your spot in the team) in player mode
- Future season fixture at proper stadiums, not port melbourne and bendigo crap in player and manager mode
- Free agency in player and manager mode
- receive trade offers in manager mode
- relocating or stadium upgrading/rebuilding in manager mode
- logo and jersey changes in manager mode
- scouting beginning mid season in manager mode

I know that most of the listed requests won't happen and are similar to EA games, but it would be nice to one day have these options to make career modes as fun and realistic as possible.

I'd say these are more AFL Evo 2 requests.

Definitely not. If Big Ant told the AFL they'd do it for .0001 cents cheaper than Wicked Witch then Big Ant would be developing it.

I think it would be great if in career mode they actually made it so that it matters how much you get paid. And contracts actually hold up instead of having to renew every year, example you can buy things with the money you make like different gear/sponsors etc where as if you make only 50k a year you'll struggle, and keep the contracts so if you sign for 3 years you aren't aloud an option to resign until that time is up

All we're most likely going to get is new players, guernseys, Optus stadium, the 2018 fixture, and a few bug fixes. I don't think they're going to throw anything massive in. Would be great though. Maybe we'll get lucky and get an updated kit designer

I'm waiting for the season to start before I get back into the game, having a little self imposed break so I can play other games (granted I've really just gone back to Rocket League and Injustice 2.... plus a sprinkling of previously unfinished games!).

Talked to a friend about it over the weekend, he still hasn't played it but had head the negative things about it. I put forward my point of view (yes graphically it's not NBA 2K and the controls can be a bit wonky sometimes. But if you learn to play it and find ways around the "average" AI.... it's very enjoyable). While it's not the only complaint people have - marking the ball is fairly simple once you get the timing down. I don't always win every marking contest..... which can be a bit annoying as once the AI gets on a kick mark kick mark run, I have to hope for a lucky mark in the back pocket or full back positions haha.
