Even with noticeable limitations, the game is still fun to play (even when I belt the AI by 200 points on the hardest difficulty... granted it helps if I'm thrashing Geelong, Sydney, Essendon at the time :D).

I just start the match, then leave the controller without touching for the whole first quarter. the other team kicks like 50-60 points and then we battle a fairly even match for the other 3 quarters. Makes it more enjoyable

I have a similar strategy sometimes to test myself. Give them an 8 - 14 goal head start. Then gradually claw back the deficit to win by the end of the game. Fun times!

Except when you play Essendon, Sydney or Geelong. I think I’d blow a fuse if I let one of them win accidentally haha

That has happened a few times when I've gotten too cocky. Sometimes the AI just gets on a run that can't be stopped (or as I have posted previously... I will get a lucky mark in the back pocket or full back!) and it takes a while to get the momentum back on my side.

I need to upload the screenshots to show it. My most recent season which has taken a while to finish (playing other games while returning to AFL Evolution every now and then). I posted about it previously where I started off against Sydney in round 1 and purposely lost by a lot so my percentage would take a hit and thus every loss I'd have would make finals harder to achieve. I lost more than I had hoped (as good as I am, I'm not invincible lol). I was teetering outside the 8, would make it back in for a while... climb up, then get knocked back down to 6th-8th.

I was going to finish 5th-8th, but got lucky in the last few rounds..... managed to finish second on percentage :D (including the return match against Sydney late in the season, I gave them a belting). It's 1-1 and the decider will happen in the finals (either PF or the grand final itself).

Haha yeah i gave Gold Coast a 10 goal head start in a qualifying final and it must have flicked a switch, because they ended up smashing me something like 110 to 60. The game punishes arrogance if you let it get on top of you haha thats great though. good to see some people are getting enjoyment out of the game! Even if you have to essentially forfeit a quarter! I remember back when there used to be some cool story threads on Bigfooty (mainly for PC2011). Hopefully someone decides to do one after the new patch and everything comes out, would be pretty cool

I do something similar.

I sim the first quarter, play the second quarter as the home team, play the third quarter as the away team, and then sim the last quarter.

I have done this with all my AFL games, and it works out to have quite realistic scores and margins. There are no ridiculous scores or thrashings, though I have had a handful of 100 point plus margins over the course of the games, just like there is the occasional 100+ margin game.

I find it is the most enjoyable and realistic way to play it.

I’m cool with paying around $25 for that. A bit annoyed that they only add about 20 likenesses but hopefully the in game created players are pretty good. Updated GMHBA Stadium is nice to see, didn’t think they’d add it but I was shocked to see they used an older version of it in the game. Still no Ballarat, Hobart or Shanghai (and probably a couple others) though and no word on whether we’ll get SA, WA, QLD or NSW local stadiums.

$25 ?

They'd want to add new match winning celebrations and a lap around the MCG with the grand final cup as well!!

I may not get it as I don't want to see Hodgey in a Lions jumper :p
That’s how much the 2012 pack for Live 2 was so I’m guessing it will be the same.
And you can trade/delist Hodge from the Lions if you want, I can’t imagine him playing after this year.

Tongue in cheek comment about Hodge. I'll probably buy it on day one, my most played game in 2017... will see a lot more action in 2018 now!

Shanghai, lol.

Put aside your team bias for a second, I think the more stadiums the better, and Shanghai has been used for an AFL match.
On the list of AFL used stadiums to add to the game, Shanghai would be equal bottom with Wellington.

Edit: wow ****ed that quote up somehow

I’m curious to see how this sells as it will be on store shelves also

If Evolution 2017 sold above expectations and as a result we got an extra patch or two then it’ll be interesting to see if this sells well we might get some updates before they go into full on Evolution 2 development (could maybe see them adding AFLX at a later date)

Surely, alongside with the new DLC, they will have to release a new patch anyway. Maybe there's gameplay changes in that?

$20 difference between the two of them on EB's site. No idea if that has any bearing on the digital download though

Main difference is that Shanghai was used in 2017 and will be used in 2018.
Yeah, I remember.

14 people turned up and we all had a good laugh.
And when your mob decides to piggy back off the Asia experiment and go to India I’m sure you’ll get a bigger crowd than us in a country that already has the worlds biggest fan base of one sport.

No way am I paying for this. I want it for free

Doesn't matter what local team is making the game, if you don't support AFL gaming and help with funding then how do you expect significant upgrades in the future??

In terms of getting these games off the ground more and more, they'll need money to do it, especially locally.

Unless you want the same situation to loop itself for another 100 years.

I agree with this heavily. Unless we stick with one dev and help them build up their engine by buying the game and getting the updates, We're just going to go around in circles and end up with mediocre to terrible game after mediocre to terrible game.

It's not like EA or 2K are gonna walk through that door anytime soon wanting to do an AFL game, We have to support our devs and help them get to the point where they can make the best game they possibly can. Otherwise, We'll end up like the American Football market outside of Madden. Always in search of that great game but not willing to support the devs because the game isn't fully there yet.

As much as some people don't what to believe it, It's sadly the truth.
