Set shot mechanic is excellent, possibly a touch on the hard side for set shots longer than 40-45 but I can understand why they've done that
Only thing I'd add to the set shots is it doesn't seem like inaccuracy is a thing. Not moving the stick straight seems to have little effect, they'll generally go straight regardless, until the wind kicks in (I love the way the wind affects the ball btw).

Shut the **** up Richo, nobody wants to hear your teenage Instagram fitness goal quotes you dickhead.
Yeah how the hell did that shit make it in the game? I physically cringed on the first one, and they don't get any better. Just horrible,

Damn the game can be fun but it's so infuriating.
Never ever get a free kick and the AI get them all the time.
Just asked Taberner for a handball in the square where I was about 2m away and he attempts to kick it to me which ends up going over my head to an opposition player and it's called a mark.
Ball would have traveled 5m at most.

I realise my player is a rookie but he really should be able to kick the ball more than the 20m he is currently dishing up.

What is it with AFL video game commentary? Why do they use the same terrible lines over and over every game? Some are still in use from the IR Gurus days.
My wife has been listening to me play AFL games since the IR Gurus days. Last night when she heard "When he's on song he sings a mighty good song " she goes "Oh for ****'s sake. Really?" That used to be her most hated line since AFL 07 or thereabouts used it after nearly every single goal.

Is the marking just flat out broken or do you think you'll be able to improve with more you play it? Is there a tutorial?

Broken is probably an overreaction but the defenders do a lot of diving marks out of nowhere. Even as a forward if you have front possie it seems to have no effect on the contest.

Just stumbled upon this which is quite funny. I think about 30 seconds in they hand over the control to a WW guy and barely do much to disguise the fact that Billy isn't actually playing

When I was young I use to commentate while playing AFL Live 2004, turned the commentary off.

Not sure I'll be doing that at my age now lol but the commentary is not great, they need more then just Dennis and the occasional Richo lines, like have a boundary reporter, have 2-3 commentating the game as it goes.

Damn, now I'm getting subbed off or like 1.5-2 quarters a game.
Another thing that needs fixing, I wasn't even that fatigued and considering the energy goes back to max it seems when a new quarter starts. I don't see the point of being off that long, considering I was playing quite well too.

Has anyone else had somebody paid a mark whilst over the line? Playing vs Hawks, AI kicks it towards Roughy but it goes about 5-10 metres through for a behind, but Roughy has started his marking animation just inside the field of play and dives, almost into the fence, for the ball. Mark was paid and promptly slotted the impossible checkside from the boundary.

Has only happened once in about 10 games but wondering if it was just a once in a lifetime thing or I'll actually have to defend every ball until it hits the floor.

Wicked Witches I hate to be "that guy" but who thought it would be a good idea to make it so your player is so tired that he sits out over half a game? Who actually thought people would want to sit there and watch 2 teams of AI play for 10 minutes? Is it hard to make a feature that just sims until your player is back on? Not really a fan of having to play for a quarter and a half and then watch for a quarter and a half. The general gameplay is much better than AFL live 2, but little things like this make the game frustrating.

Playing as Freo, not getting free kicks and Taberner spudding it up. You could be talking about this weeks game. Sounds like the game is too realistic

Can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to mark? I'm losing it.

I played online and obviously the bloke I played had perfected it.

Do you:

A) Have to be inside the circle before you press triangle?
B) Do you have to be a certain distance within it? I have pressed triangle as it goes solid, even when i'm in front, and yet my opponent outmarks me from behind.
C) Are players not drawn to the mark placement? I assumed the player AI would assist you, yet as soon as you let go of sprint they just plod to the mark and your opponent outmarks you from behind.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lol the ball just got suspended in mid air and all the players ran around like mental patients for a good three minutes. Even when time elapsed the siren still wouldn't go! I had to go into the instant replay, back out to the match, then the footy would slowly lower like the Times Square ball drop on NYE until it reached the ground then the siren went :drunk:
My worst bug so far is I finished the first match of the JLT (North vs Swans), North players did the celebrations etc and then a 5th quarter started... but I had no onfield indicators anymore.

Oh well, finished that quarter, north celebrated... and a 6th quarter started, but this time no on screen indicators, camera zoomed right out, and positions on the field all ****ed up (I was manning a ruck on the left wing).

  1. Remove disc from console.
  2. Place into game case and retrieve receipt.
  3. Drive to EB games.
  4. Return game
In all seriousness you're basically ****ed mate

So the in game tips differ from the book which is confusing.

You have to hold Triangle to initiate a mark attempt and RELEASE it just as the circles align.

It's pretty bad.

Just to swim against the tide here, Im enjoying it.

The lock on to a leading target opens it up. Going the spoil option is my go to.

Ive edited my North team ratings to get more player separation and it feels good. Slow players are slow, bad players are bad. Ill do the rest of the league and that will only help.

So if you edit the league in Fan Hub, does that reflect in the season or career modes? I would love to accurately reflect my perception of the league and have that play out in the single player game.

It seems pretty counter-intuitive to have to release a button to perform an action (marking). In saying that I like how it is set up for handballing because you can run in one direction and handball in another.

With marking tho it doesn't also help that you need to still press triangle to spoil. So basically you need to jostle to get position, decide whether to mark or spoil, and then time your action. All of this sometimes in the mini-second you have on the end of a 5m kick.

Yeah we really need to work out this whole marking and spoiling shit storm.

Do you;

A. Move to position with the left stick, then jostle with the right stick, and then hold the mark/spoil button and release at the right time?

B. Hold the mark/spoil button while moving into position with the left stick, then release it at the right time, and then jostle with the right stick?

C. Move into position with the left stick, then jostle with the right stick, and then tap instead of hold the mark/spoil button at the right time?

D. Any of the above but not jostle with the right stick at all as it normally just results in your player stumbling unless you hit the exact right angle?

E. Other?

Doesn't seem to be available yet on either the Japanese or USA psn store. Can't remember my login for the Aussie psn store either :(

Or at the very least, just give an option to sim through until he is off the bench again.
